Yo fam,
I am (hopefully) getting close to securing what will finally be my home office / home theater / party room / man cave within the next year or so. I haven't looked hard at how I'm going to organize it quite yet, I have had stuff in storage and not lived anywhere permanently for so long (since 2008 at least) it's hard for me to even know what I do and don't have in terms of 'stuff', but I've been looking around at a lot of examples of people's dedicated rooms to try and get inspired or get some ideas.
I have to say I hate how just about 90% of man caves look. I am not into the giant room with cases and cases of figures, I'm also not into too much clutter and repetition in visuals. More power to those that have entire rooms dedicated to just one thing, I've been in those rooms and they're definitely cool, just not for me personally.
What do y'all have in terms of setups? Do you have more stuff, less stuff? Do you use cases or shelves for your figures? How about furniture? I know it's all dependent upon space but I'm curious to your personal versions. Also, have you ever seen examples of other man caves that you thought were awesome that you don't have?
I obviously have some wrestling figures. I'll def have a small wrestling figure collection that will probably double as my work studio setup, so that's a little less challenging. Otherwise I have mostly TMNT stuff (definitely want to have all this out), some Batman (not even a full box worth) random action figures (probably not a full box worth) and full size dolls (a few Chuckys, Twilight Zone) some Ghostbusters stuff (proton pack and prop suit...don't mind this being in the closet, though). I also have movie posters I'm hoping to put in some decent frames.
Any help or supportive discussion would be great.

I live in a one bedroom apartment but I keep it very minimal. Depending on the size of the room, I think you’d be fine with just a nice big tv, a good couch and maybe a mini fridge and some art/posters on the wall. If I had a large dedicated area like a basement then I’d probably spring for something like a pool table or maybe one of those arcade style basketball games.

I'm about to head out to the garage to workout, which is my man cave. It's a bit cluttered but you'll get the idea and my wife and I bought the house a decade ago so it's been a process. I'll try to remember to upload a couple pics later

I have an attic room that serves as my man cave. I keep an air conditioner in the window in the summer because attics get hot in the summer. I use an EdenPure space heater to keep it warm in the winter. My man cave consists of an old bed frame that displays my Lego Modular City. Various shelves hold my Lego Architecture sets and Hot Wheels and NASCAR diecast. I have a huge bookshelf that displays my wrestling figure collection too. I also have some autographed NASCAR memorabilia and MOC Hot Wheels cars hanging on the walls

I work from home so have all of my figures in my work room/studio. Most of my collection is housed in a 6 foot wide, 7 foot high china display case that was left here by the old lady that used to live here. Her kids actually visited after we had moved in were very amused to see that was being used to display action figures. They were taking pics lol. I keep a bunch of Motu and superstars on a table where i have my laptop & scanner. Another group of figures on a 4 foot hight bookcase. And doubles of figures i really, really like on the desk where i work. I also have figures displayed on and by the window sills behind me. With my desk in the corner of the room, i am literally surrounded 360° by action figures. The only thing I feel that in lacking is a wall mounted tv but my walls are covered in posters so thats the trade off I guess.

A true man cave comes from within, not copying something that looks cool on instagram. I believe you are headed in the right direction by not liking 90% of what you’ve seen and I bet that number is probably higher. The man cave should be you with your stuff and interests. The man cave comes together slowly not put up quick like a McMansion. If you plan on having guests what they want is a tv and a cold beer, maybe they’ll like the cave maybe they won’t. I’ve been to some real dumpy man caves but the beer was flowing and the laughs kept coming so I go back bc they are my friends. Your man cave can take on different personalities throughout the years.
In short, make it yours don’t make it kitschy.

I have a collection room which takes up the entire bonus room. It's a 24x24 area with a tall ceiling so I've got alot of space
I pieced together my desired entertainment center with IKEA. I love it. I have a 75" TV with column shelves on other side with wrestling figures/memorabilia displayed
I have floating shelves with moc and loose figures of wrestling, marvel, DC, Star Wars, random tid bits of other things
I use brightroom cube organizers that wrap the perimeter of the room and they have more various moc and loose of the brands mentioned above
Got a three seater reclining couch and a coffee table
Posters scattered here and there. Autographed wrestling items, MCU movie prop replicas/toys
I had a good idea what I wanted but I took my time and it's all come together pretty nicely. That said, I'm always adding to the collection which requires some shuffling around and opening some carded figures from time to time
Usually it's just me up here watching wrestling and enjoying the collection. Wife will come up sometimes and when we have guests generally people wanna see the room and hang out for awhile

I was just thinking about this because I got my first Smart TV for my room yesterday! I don't have a ton of figures left but do have some random Marvel collectibles I was able to put to good use and display. Nothing too special, but after a hell-year, I'm happy to be able to say I've got what I've got set up! I'll eventually fill it with more Marvel related nic-nacs/odds and ends but for now I'm pretty stoked. Right above the little set up is a 66"×44" Vinyl Poster of the F4 by one of my favorite artists, John Byrne. Looking to add more comic related art/posters by my favorite artists to the wall, but later on. I'm figuring out I personally enjoy my living area to be themed so I picked Marvel and am gonna run with it from here. At one point I had/collected a ton of different stuff and had it all displayed (Marvel, DC, Horror, Star Wars, Pokemon, Mortal Kombat, WWE, UFC, Basketball) but hard times hit and had to get rid of 95% of it, so this is me starting from basically the ground up. I think I'm starting to prefer having the Dedicated theme a little more so far compared to having tons of lines on display because after a while things begin to get/look cluttered. There's definitely room for a collection like that but I personally would need the space to make it work to my liking.

Is there a Man Cave equivelent for a woman?
My figures are in what I call my "Office". It's the second bedroom of my apartment that I have set up with two of the walls lined with those 24x36 garage utility shelves that I have fixed up to be figure displays. The third wall has a DVD rack on it, the window, a nightstand where I keep my printer and paper, and a display of "Sami Hats". And the fourth wall is where my computer, closet, and cabinet is. It's not much of a cave at all, in fact, it's not much in the way of cozy even. But it gives me a place to put my figures and sit down and watch some stuff if I want to.

CM Tusk Damn, you even repped Dr. Loomis My favorite horror movie character. Plan on adding a few of his figures over time. When I was a kid he creeped me out more than Michael Myers did. This is one of my favorite scenes from any Halloween movie. I wasn't crazy about the actor that played him in the Rob Zombie version, though.

One of the reasons his second movie is my least favorite movie ever.

The biggest advice I can give is to not rush into anything. I think it’s best to be patient and get it right the first time, than to rush and put something together, and then 2 months later change your mind, which could cost you more time and money. Take your time and research what you are interested in. I spent a lot of time looking at FB groups dedicated to man caves, finished basements, etc. Many of which had themes I wasn’t interested in, but I was able to take aspects of what others had done and put my own twist on them.
When we bought our house, we had the basement refinished and it took me a solid year to figure out what kind of look I wanted. We have been here almost 4 years now, and it’s still a work in progress. My basement turned into a war zone this week with my wife deciding it’s time to pull out all the Christmas decorations, so if I can get it put back together in decent shape, I’ll post some photos.

They specialize in creating beautiful, customized living spaces, and reading some of their customer feedback might give you a better idea of what they can do. If you like what you see, it could be worth reaching out to them for help. They have a great reputation for building homes that are both functional and stylish, so they might be able to turn your vision into reality.
