Since we already got anniversary box sets for RAW, Smackdown, Hulkamania and WWE itself, it's easy to asssume that a WrestleMania 40th anniversary box set would be natural candidate for the next exclusive Mattel offer.
It might be fake but we already got a leak of a possible Target WM Legends box set consisting of Hulk, Bret, Shawn and Roman (possibly in WM4, WM12, WM21 and WM39 gear). Would you be ok with this type of set? Maybe you would change something? Or maybe you have your own ideas for a different line-up?
I personally love the idea of a box set celebrating 40 years of WM and think the leaked line-up is pretty decent (although I would rather see different gear choices for Hulk and Shawn). If it was completely up to me I would certainly include WM3 Hulk, WM14 Austin, WM23 Cena and WM39 Roman (all with entrance gear and championships they held at the end of each WM).

I like the idea, but I would change the line up to have the iconic moment from each of the four generations... *Wrestlemania 1-10* obviously this would be Hulk Hogan (but what looks are really left?) I'd go with a returning Macho Man Randy Savage (WM4 attire) *Wrestlemania 11-20* Here I'd have to go with Stone Cold - admittedly a similar issue to Hogan (WM attire) *Wrestlemania 21-30* personally I'd like Undertaker but this was certainly the John Cena era. (WM27 attire) *Wrestlemania 31-40* has to be Roman Reigns right? a case could be made for Cody but he didn't compete at enough throughout that decade to justify it.

I forgot to add that personally I'm against the idea of always having new looks of certain wrestlers in these type of sets. Not everyone has hundreds of figures and I would love to see a legacy pack that could be a collecting starting point for many people or a stand alone item for someone who doesn't collect at all. Something in the style of greatest hits but themed and boxed, so simply a great gift set idea. I think an awesome box design would justify it for collectors who already might own certain figures included.

I'd personally prefer a wave covering each Mania 10x waves including 4 figures per set (and a BAF) no limitations on who is/isn't signed and nobody can be repeated for example...
40 Years of Mania - Wave 1 WM1 Hulk Hogan WM2 King Kong Bundy WM3 Andre The Giant WM4 Ted Dibiase build a figure - Gorilla Monsoon
40 Years of Mania - Wave 2 WM5 Macho Man Randy Savage WM6 Ultimate Warrior WM7 Sgt. Slaughter WM8 Ric Flair build a figure - Jesse Ventura
40 Years of Mania - Wave 3 WM9 Bret Hitman Hart WM10 Yokozuna WM11 Bam Bam Bigelow (or Diesel) WM12 Shawn Michaels build a figure - Vince McMahon
40 Years of Mania - Wave 4 "The Mania Gets an Attitude" WM13 Undertaker WM14 Stone Cold Steve Austin WM15 Mankind WM16 Triple H build a figure - Jerry Lawler
40 Years of Mania - Wave 5 WM17 The Rock WM18 Chris Jericho WM19 Kurt Angle WM20 Eddie Guerrero build a figure - Jim Ross
40 Years of Mania - Wave 6 WM21 JBL WM22 Rey Mysterio WM23 Batista WM24 Edge build a figure - Vicky Guerrero
40 Years of Mania - Wave 7 WM25 John Cena WM26 The Miz WM27 Randy Orton WM28 Sheamus build a figure - Michael Cole
40 Years of Mania - Wave 8 WM29 CM Punk WM30 Brock Lesnar WM31 Seth Rollins WM32 Daniel Bryan build a figure - Paul Heyman
40 Years of Mania - Wave 8 WM33 Charlotte Flair WM34 Ronda Rousey WM35 Becky Lynch WM36 Drew McIntyre build a figure - Stephanie McMahon
40 Years of Mania - Wave 10 (Final) WM37 Bianca Belair WM38 Kevin Owens WM39 Roman Reigns WM40 Cody Rhodes build a figure - Samantha Irvin

I know ideally it should cover 40 years but I’m being selfish with my fantasy booking:
WM1 Andre
WM3 Hogan (I know ppl want this in UE but I’m fine with elite as long as it comes with a velcroless shirt)
WM15 Stone Cold
WM2000 Mick Foley
But if we’re doing one moment from every 10 years then:
WM 1-10: WM3 Hogan
WM 11-20: WM15 Stone Cold
WM 21-30: WM22 Cena (entrance attire)
WM 31-40: Roman (is there an attire that hasn’t been done or can be improved?)

I'd personally prefer a wave covering each Mania 10x waves including 4 figures per set (and a BAF) no limitations on who is/isn't signed and nobody can be repeated for example... 40 Years of Mania - Wave 1 WM1 Hulk Hogan (since they already did a perfect UE figure of this look, maybe do Andre here)WM2 King Kong Bundy (molded singlet, please)WM3 Andre The Giant (since they already did a really good UE figure of this look, maybe do Hulk Hogan here)WM4 Ted Dibiase (I like this pick, just remember that the dollar signs on his trunks and boots were white as the time, not gold)build a figure - Gorilla Monsoon (great choice, if not him, Bob Uecker would be great)40 Years of Mania - Wave 2 WM5 Macho Man Randy Savage (I would prefer this attire as an UE figure, so I would go with King Haku)WM6 Ultimate Warrior (not this attire again, I'd go with Ravishing Rick from this event)WM7 Sgt. Slaughter (perfect choice)WM8 Ric Flair (another great choice)build a figure - Jesse Ventura (great choice)40 Years of Mania - Wave 3 WM9 Bret Hitman Hart (since this figure is in the upcoming legends wave, I'd go with an updated Narcissist figure or Kona Crush)WM10 Yokozuna (Yoko would be good, or maybe Bret from this event)WM11 Bam Bam Bigelow (or Diesel) (either would be great)WM12 Shawn Michaels (since this is the SDCC UE figure, I'd go with Hunter Hearst Helmsley or Davey Boy Smith)build a figure - Vince McMahon (Vince probably won't happen, so how about Dink from WM10)40 Years of Mania - Wave 4 "The Mania Gets an Attitude" WM13 Undertaker (I like it)WM14 Stone Cold Steve Austin (I like it)WM15 Mankind (I like it)WM16 Triple H (I like it)build a figure - Jerry Lawler (I like it)I like your idea of a WrestleMania line, and I like the figures from the same decade are paired in the same wave, but please, no more WrestleMania 6 Ultimate Warriors. Made some changes to your list above with things I wouldn't mind seeing.

WrestleMania 3 Hulk Hogan WrestleMania 13 Steve Austin WrestleMania 21 John Cena WrestleMania 38 Cody Rhodes
Its not a set Id buy personally, but if you wanted to kind of encapsulate each decade of WrestleMania so far I think those are the wrestlers and gears youd have to go with

Hogan, Austin, Rock and Cena would be the big names that'd sell this, Especially if they could get it on the shelves for Christmas.

Hogan, Austin, Rock and Cena would be the big names that'd sell this, Especially if they could get it on the shelves for Christmas. It's possible but I doubt they would leave out Reigns after he was the main star of the last ten WrestleManias and still is the main guy going forward. I'd say Hogan and Reigns are a lock if we consider the first and last decade. Bret, Austin and Rock would be strong candidates for the second decade, while Shawn, Taker and Cena could be considered strongest candidates for the third decade.

Decade 1 Hogan Decade 2 Bret Decade 3 HBK Decade 4 Undertaker/Cena Neither Cena nor Taker were that impactful the last 10 years. Cena moved to the mid card then part time and Taker’s matches post streak weren’t that great. This last decade has been all about Roman. In the last 10 years he’s main evented 8 Manias (9 if you count night 1) and was the billed main event for another until covid took him off the card.

There is one interview with Mattel team floating around where there is talk about SDCC WM12 Shawn Michaels. In that interview Steve said that this figure was originally intended for a different release at the end of the year.
This might either mean that he was supposed to be included in WM41 Las Vegas line as an Elite (might now be replaced with the WM30 Hogan re-release) or in a different WM Box Set that we are predicting.

1, 10, 20, 30, 40. Subtract one.
We have a Mania 1 Hogan as an Ultimate, but I wouldn't be surprised to see that as an Elite vs. an Ultimate.
10 - Bret Hart with jacket.
20 - Chris Beno.... uhhh, I mean Eddie. With a removable boot and alternate bootlegs shin/foot.
30 - Would have to be Daniel Bryan, but since he's not signed.....
40 - Cody, easy peasy.
There's your four pack. Big names, legends and modern. Easy sell.

I can really justify making a whole thread about it, but I'd be kind of interested in seeing a boxset commemorating some of the major events before WrestleMania.
The mind behind Starrcade Dusty Rhodes
Somebody to represent the AWA, Bockwinkle would be nice but Hansen or Martel from Superclash 1 seems more feasible
Not possible currently, but Ric Flair or Kerry Von Erich from Parade of Champions 1984
The last spot is trickier but I was thinking maybe Ali or Inoki from the war of the worlds. I wouldn't mind another Race or Graham either to represent the NWA and WWWF co-promoting
