Are there any collectors here that have collected everything WWE Mattel from 2010? Or at least collected the Early series.
Im curious if you got Elites, Basics, Battle Packs together and how you displayed them.

I was too hesitant to make the change from Jakks and the first Mattel I bought was the Basic 1 John Cena in March 2010.

I've mentioned this on the boards before over the years but I was actually working at Toys R Us at the time the line launched and it was my assistant manager and I who merched the entire section the night before launch day.
I remember getting Basic Series 1 Cena, Triple H and Evan Bourne, Basic 2-Packs Chris Jericho vs Shawn Michaels, and Elite Undertaker and Rey Mysterio.
It was an expensive day even with my staff discount but I was hooked after that.

December 2009 got Evan Bourne and Big Show in TRU they put them out early wasn't going to start after Jakks. Then I decided in Jan 2010 to get them lots of coupon deals from Toys R Us solidified starting to collect. Kmart was another great spot to get them. Target and WalMart were hit and miss but had different waves then TRU and K-Mart. Distribution was really good at the time by April 2 packs 3 were in the stores and they were up to series 3 and 4. Plus PPV sets mixed in depending on store. I didn't get every single guy in basic and elites mostly 1 of everyone.

I was upset Jakks was done, figured there’s no way I can justify starting a new collection, but then I saw Legends Ricky Steamboat and I couldn’t pass it up. Ordered it from ringside and the rest is history.

I started at legends 5. The combo of macho man. Rick martel.bam bam and akeem (if i remember correctly) sold me.
I was watching since day 1, i was interested in a few of the figures but it wasnt until legends 5 hit that i couldnt resist anymore

I was in the 'peak' of my figure days back when the change happened. I remember when finding out Jakks was done with WWE, and Mattel was taking over, i was hesitant... and after seeing the first Mattel figures, i didn't know if i'd like them because they were such a change from Jakks, which i loved.
Either way, it didn't stop me. So in November 2009, my local Toyworld had Basic Series 1. I remember thinking we were super special to get them 'early', as i thought they were getting released worldwide on January 1st (and not just on RSC). So i ended up getting Triple H, Kofi Kingston, Batista, and The Big Show. Shortly after, i got the Elite 1 CM Punk off Ebay and it arrived in the first week of 2010 i believe.
Since then, i kept up with whatever stock Australia (mainly my small hometown) got and just mixed them in with my Jakks figures. Looking back on it now, i can see why i was hesitant to like them, considering the stark different in size & scale to Jakks... But i'm glad i didn't skip out of them.
To this day i still have those Basic 1 figures, and that Elite 1 CM Punk, all in fantastic condition!

Bought the legends series on and off over the years but still prefer jakks. Better quality plastic/deeper line/better packaging/hardier figures rhat dont break as easy (at first, over the years this has changed)

I started with Basic Bourne and Kingston a few days before 1/1/10. I stuck to Basics at first and displayed them on their stands with their name tags, until I ran out of room in that setup. I didn't buy an Elite until series 3 Christian, as I didn't care for the extra articulation at the time. I heavily pursued the 1/1000 belts on the basics that first year as well.

No, I was a die-hard Classic Jakks fan and I did not like the attire selections (or the price) OR the "limited variety" of the Mattel Legends.... I remember finding and buying a few of the early Legends on clearance at Family Dollar - Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Hillbilly Jim - I'm pretty sure I passed on Pillman and Rick Martel Stupid, right? I also remember thinking what a dumb choice of attires for the Road Warriors and Sgt. Slaughter. I was so dumb. It wasn't until Mattel got the Macho Man (and the fabulous Defining Moments Macho Man) that I caved and started building a Mattel Collection.

I started day one, stopped a few times and came back but I remember the poster before the first reveal. I think it was a blurred out Triple H on a ramp. Really cool. Edit - just found the pic.

i started since day 1 but, due to my budget, only slowly bought mattel figures to replace my jakks ones. i took a few years out recently because raising two young kids drained all my figure money 😂 but now ive caught up what i missed.
i store many of my figures in boxes by era (i play with these) and display my favourite figures across 4 shelves on an ikea unit.
my collection is now pretty much 99% mattel, 1% jakks

Actually started collecting a week prior to Jan 1. My TRU had them out the final week before Christmas that year…So I had the basic series 1 Triple H, Cena and one other (Evan Bourne?) under my tree that year. And all Elite styled figures(and basic woman) are displayed together. With a couple UE’s mixed in. And all other basics are displayed by themselves. And UE’s are by themselves.
