So what are you guys fav moments regarding the European Championship?
I will say that belt was always one of my favs. Just a good looking belt all around.
HBK vs Bulldog, RVD vs Jeff Ladder match, Jericho winning it, Eddie vs Test WM17, Jeff winning it, Christian winning it, DDP winning it, Spike winning it, Matt winning it, Angle winning it, Owen winning it, All of Regals reigns etc.
That's all I can remember for now lol.

Bulldog/Owen to crown the 1st champ. Best Raw match in the 90s IMO

I loved EG's run and his Spanish Ancestors which made a lot of gimmicky sense.
The double champions I also enjoyed - Angle and D'lo and I think I am missing one?
A championship that I believe could return and be worth a lot more now with a lot of Europeans!

Owen vs. Bulldog for sure tops it all
X-Pac vs. D'Lo Brown matches from 1998 were always enjoyable to watch for the European Title
I enjoyed DDP vs. Christian feud/matches for the European Title in 2002

HBK vs Bulldog @iyh: One Night only and quite frankly? It isn't even close.

I think that D'Lo Brown is the greatest European champ ever. He actually made that belt feel special between the chest protector gimmick along with being hailed from a different European country every week. He also had some really great matches and became one of the more over midcard players in 1998. The guy just really embraced that reign.

How long did this belt last? I don't remember it much past 1998.

Wow! It made it to 2002? I don't remember that. Yeah RVD was the final champ after they unified it with the IC belt 97/8 easily was its best years. It had some moments here and there I enjoyed like when Angle held it during his dual reign or when Regal held it

The matches and moments I think of right off the bat for the European Title are...
Bulldog vs. Owen from 97 HBK vs. Bulldog from ONO 97 HBK vs. Triple H from Raw 97 cause of the stupidity of it Owen vs. "Triple H" Goldust from Raw 98 D'Lo Brown vs. Triple H from Raw in July 98 D'Lo vs. X Pac Fully Loaded 98 D'Lo vs. X Pac Raw 98 Angle vs. Benoit vs. Jericho WM 2000 Eddie vs. Saturn vs. Malenko from Judgment Day 2000 Matt Hardy's European Title reign just because he spent in mainly wrestling tag matches still with Jeff (such a weird pointless reign) Christian vs. Al Snow Survivor Series 2001 DDP vs. Christian Raw 2002 DDP vs. Christian WM 18 Jeff Hardy vs. RVD in a Title vs. Title match Raw 2002
On a side note, RVD retired the Hardcore Title and the European Title in the summer of 2002 with having title vs. title matches with the IC Title vs. Hardcore and European Title

Al Snow coming out to his theme tune in a different European language always made me smile!
“ Was will jeder? Kopf!” etc

Bulldog/Owen Kurt Angle - Eurocontinental Champion Triple H/Owen Feud ‘98 Guerrero & Regals separate title runs
It was decent while it lasted. Gave some lower card guys in the late 90s/early 00s something to fight over instead of an over bloated IC title scene which would have diminished its relevancy.

The European Championship was the only foam kids belt we could find in stores when I was a kid, so me and my brothers would wrestle for that belt. I think that’s my fondest memory of it lol.
I also remember Big Show hitting on Trish Stratus & telling her he was gonna take her on a European Vacation when he wins the European Title tonight…lol
