Someone posted this on social medial..... Overall I could care less, as I would never even consider opening a figure until I've paid for it. On one hand, I'm really glad they're addressing & trying to prevent all the swapping/tampering that's going on. But am I gonna have to flag down an employee to buy a figure now? Because these stores all cry that they're terribly under-staffed the way it is.... And just getting these figures ON THE SHELVES appears to be too much work for these employees - now they'll have to put them in these things before they can even be put out? We'll never see the shelves stocked. Ever. Thoughts?

That's a real shame, I can't believe they'd do something like this...The only way those Jazwares figures are leaving the store is if they are stolen, how else do they expect to get rid of them?!?

I haven’t bought a figure in store in years. I could tell you that the whole flagging down an employee is pretty much with any item at these chain stores here. It’s incredibly annoying that almost every item is behind a glass counter, but I also get it too. I’ve seen people literally stuff their pockets and just walk out a store. I kind of want to leave NYC, but enough of my rant 🤣

A lot of stores in Philly have them locked behind glass

i’d rather have this than find something i’d want just to find out it’s a swap or partially stolen. also would rather have this than to have to call an employee over and wait 30 minutes for one
doesn’t matter though because i rarely find anything i really want to get at my walmarts anymore

Inconvenient yes, but at least this store is trying to fight back.

I know of a WalMart that locks up all the spray paint but I can't say I've seen action figures caged up.

It looks like the are on the individual figures if so they’ll remove them at the register during checkout.

Imagine if we just prosecuted and their were consequences for criminals instead of waisting time and dollars for these gimmicks to stop the activity.

So they cant be removed at all from the pegs by a customer? Or they can but, the device needs to be removed at checkout?

Those anti-theft tags on TV's that are taken off after you purchase? A loss prevention team? Undercover secret shoppers? Inventory logs? All of the above are in the same boat to serve the same purpose, to prevent theft. I applaud this store for doing this, anything to prevent theft/swaps/etc. I moreso wish that stores would rework their return policy for figures to be like movies, sports cards, etc.

Pathetic that they need to do this but glad they are. Hopefully Mattel can add tamper evident stickers on the edges to help the retailers to stop accepting swaps as returns.

At least it stops belt thieves but not swappers sadly Eh, not if they think about it for just a minute. Kind of like putting a cage around a paper milk carton to keep people from accessing the liquid. Deleting my post about the multiple ways this can be easily defeated in the store just to be on the safe side, but it’s going to do very little to stop figure swapping. Retail stores just don’t seem to understand that it happens at home.

Walmart has spent money on this and is now spending dollars and hours on it which in return will raise costs over long term. My point still stands that our legal system is broken and because of it these gimmicks have been created, that will ultimately change nothing. A thief will still go buy the figure and then get it home and return it as something else regardless of the chicken wire they wrapped around it at store level. You are 100% correct the return policy is where it needs to start and educate staff to recognize fraudulent returns

But at least they are trying something. Another positive is that it also signals that they are aware of the problem as well. Maybe this store is a trial run, see how it goes and then go from there. Roll it out to a wider swath of stores or just cut bait and try for something else.

A small minority of people are ruining it for everyone else. AMEN!! And that's the main cause of prices to be raised (and if it's not the main, it's a close second). So basically, us law-abiding collectors get hosed.
