Worst set yet. The RVD scan is genuinely terrible. Harlem are cool though.

I still don’t see why they should of even switched the boots considering the ones he wore during that match were also tall. They just look terrible… Do they make him taller by any chance?? Out of their whole catalog, I think the closest looking boots imo are the demolition boots or Seth’s with the sculpting on the kickers. They had better options, but the fact that they’re pinless makes it non fixable. The only thing I thought about doing was switching the legs from the swivel down, but that means removing a good portion of the blue shorts on the upper thighs. It's really a lose lose. Agree. I wonder if Mattel could find a medium between pinless and swappable joints. Is there something in between where the parts could be swappable, but pinless? I’m still upset at the lack of sculpted biker shorts for some of these figures like RVD, Rick Steiner etc.

Geez, Mattel caught 2007-2009 Jakks snow boots syndrome. I don’t understand giving RVD those boots after getting in correct on every other RVD for the last 10 years,…but we are going to start screwing it up now? lol

Can't believe I'm going to have to buy 4 useless figures to get that amazing Disciple figure

I don’t want anyone in this line except for Disciple. He looks amazing. That RVD is terrible because of the boots. They give HBK the long Japanese kickpads every single figure, but RVD gets these short boots as a one-off. And it’s still not even accurate, so why do this instead of keeping his normal kickpads? I don’t get it.

Thanks for the pics! It's good to see them hand-on. From a marketing perspective, The Disciple is the perfect BAF figure. It's an unessential deep cut that wouldn't be a hot seller on its own, but because it's still a memorable gimmick that hasn't been done before, it makes completing the set more worthwhile to add depth to the era. I love Harlem Heat (and really want the chases despite knowing it's a fool's errand), have always wanted this particular RVD attire, but already have the previous Rock from the Faarooq 2-pack. However, this Rock is slightly better with the TrueFX and more accurate torso choice, and if getting him means completing The Disciple, it's easier to justify it. RVD though...I'm normally not too big of a stickler for this kind of thing, but Mattel needs to take both RVD and Billy Gunn and give them taller kickpads that meet at the smaller kneepads. I'm glad they at least gave RVD the smaller pads in place of the dreaded 'leg sleeves', but having black paint in place of boots sucks. The only thing worse is Billy Gunn's figures having bare flesh between his boots and pads. Gonna have to display him behind a bigger dude and possibly swap the head out; still not sure about the latter. Cool attire, at least? See, I though the same thing about Billy’s boots, but if you look at pictures of real life Billy wearing the boots with the DX symbol and the straps on the side, they’re shorter boots. So the OG figure’s boots are accurate. But he also wears black knee supporters that cover his calves and his knee pads are really long and he wears them Ric Flair style. So if the figures had the black paint lower down on the legs, it would look closer to the real thing. But then he also wore long strapless boots that came up to his knees.

I just want to be able to find these figures….I didn’t bother with the pre order, I can’t trust this conglomerate to actually fulfill pre orders or stock the shelves.
Figure thoughts from the pictures that were posted. Disciple looks incredible. Mattel is really knocking it out of the park with one off Ed Leslie gimmicks. Zodiac was one of my favorite figures when it dropped. Hopefully we get a re-release or a new Brutus the barber. Harlem Heat are really good. Wish they would have went with the gold attire, but, Mattel has a spotty track record with gold. The Rock is really cool. Very obscure shirt that I think he wore once or twice, but, a great upgrade from his old nation figure. RVD…..complete whiff. The headscan is Absolutely BRUTAL. They need to go back to the drawing board with that. I really don’t understand the kick pad/Gargano syndrome continuance. Everyone has voiced their opinion on how bad it looks and it keeps getting used.

That RVD, good lord lol. The face, the boots etc… just awful. Genuinely one of Mattel’s worst scans. Looks more like Johnny Cab from total recall.

WrestlingFigWig Could you post some more pics of Harlem Heat? Maybe together and next to more WCW figures if you can? Thanks brother.

Why does RVD have shin length boots with those weird painted on leg sleeves. It reminds me of those singlet Big Show figures.

Welp, another RVD Mattel completely dropped the ball with. How the hell does Bill look at those legs and say “yep, send it to production.” I get he wore different boots in ‘97 than he did later on, but if Mattel is too cheap to sculpt new legs, just use the ones they’ve been using or don’t make him at all.
And thats not getting into the bad scan and lanky arms.

It’s a new day, I’ve got fresh eyes and I’ve had another glance at that RVD and it’s worse than yesterday lol. ’Design team’ turning up for work:

The Disciple is BY FAR the best figure in the Monday Night Wars series -- by 100 miles. I'm usually pretty positive on Mattel -- but hard to believe this is the "BAF" -- and shows you what this line could have actually been if executed better. I thought the same. It’s weird that a BAF is the most detailed and accurate of the entire line. I still think it’s a waste that they’re doing a commish HBK when he had such epic looks during this period.
