I don't see alot of repacks of figs but still do here in 2024. My question is how does it get passed customer service? Whenever I do toys & electronics returns they scan it with their handheld device to see that it matches what I'm returning before accepting it. 🤷♂️
What does target do with the old legends series that don't sell? They use to mark them down to around $6 but I've noticed they don't do that anymore. The last Hogan series with the cape was marked down to $13 then they all got sent back

Whenever I’ve ever had to return something to Target they don’t really check anything. They just scan the receipt and the the barcode and throw it in a bin. I’d imagine if someone returning a repack were to be questioned they’d just say that’s how it came and that’s why they’re returning it. That someone else picked it up for them or something.

Have u done a return recently? Maybe it's just a Cali thing? But trust me, I do returns at different targets and they all do that. I think the register prompts them to check their device

It is unrealistic to expect a retail employee to know exactly what the original figure in the package is supposed to look like. Switcheroos being put back on the shelves is evidence that employees are not stealing figures because if there was a reseller among them, they would know a swapped figure when they see one.

Where I am in Texas there is a basic Zayn masquerading as a 104 Breakker at a Target. Target down here is way better than WMs, which has far more swaps. I also bought a few L21 Hogans for $8 (after tax) recently.

I'm more interested in the second part of his question - what about the Legends that don't sell. Doesn't seem many people have seen them at discount stores for cheaper -- are they destroyed??

I don’t know but have a guess - they are donated en masse to something like Toys for Tots, and take a tax write off for it.

Most of the targets still mark them down till they sell. I have not seen any signs that they are stopping at 13$ before returning them. Never seen a legends figure at ollies.

Legends sell out the first couple shipments around here pretty quick. Then they'll be pretty easily available and once they start discounting them they disappear realitvely quick. I've seen very few make it to the $6 clearance price
I see legends at Dirt Cheap. Usually the figures that didn't sell the best - Bob Orton, Molly Holly, Stacy Keibler, etc

Check the discount clothing stores in your area; I found some Stacy Keiblers at "Gabe's" discount clothing store late last year. They were $5. I had actually skipped Stacy at full retail so I bought it!
