It could be fun for Mattel to do a draft line once a year featuring special brand specific packaging and getting in a few NXT callups?

Me and my Guy from Guy’s Toy Shop were talking about this earlier today. When Jakks did it in 2002 it was an enormous financial gain for the company.
So if Mattel did this, it would be the best financial move they can make. It would easily make them the most money possible. That and a Cody Rhodes with the Undisputed WWE Championship around his waist MOC.

I think it could be a way to flesh out the Main Events, another subline like the Champions, now that they have the new articulation, almost everyone on the roster could be redone that way and it would be an upgrade, but I think if they were to do it for the Elites, it would be very unpopular because it would be such a massive number of remakes. You might get a new tattoo or an updated head scan here or there, but I think it would essentially become the draft version of Top Picks.

Sure, if it incorporates the drafts from last 20 years.

I only collect Basics and figured that would be the easiest way to have it done so that would be great for me!

It could be fun for Mattel to do a draft line once a year featuring special brand specific packaging and getting in a few NXT callups? Start a poll...

I think I mentioned something similar to Steve in his Q&A thread a LONG time ago. If I remember well, he shot it down pretty bluntly. 😅

Honestly unless you are a MIB/MOC collector it’s pointless. It would just be the same wrestlers that we are already getting in the regular lines but in a special draft package.

I forgot how the annual PPV lines or MNWs or Ruthless Aggression or Decade of Domination or Defining Moments or any special line are always FTITLs. Oh wait, they're not, they are also "the same wrestlers that we are already getting in the regular lines but in special packaging." So I am legit curious, are you not trying to collect any of those aforementioned lines? This would be another along those same lines.

I never care about the packaging. So if the wrestler didn’t wrestle in a special outfit on the night of the draft then the attire is more than likely one we are already getting so I would pass on it. And let’s be honest most of the people drafted don’t wrestle on the draft show so the attires are going to be the normal attires. If it’s a wrestler I like in a new attire I would buy it. But more than likely it would be straight rerelease of already released figures. Basically the “Best of” in a draft package.

Mattel could make bank on those savings!

Back when it was Bischoff/Stephanie they actually tried to make it like a war - but Historically WWE has never stuck with the drafts longer than 2-3 months. Then talents start crossing over for no valid reason, no explanation, and before you know it guys are appearing on both shows, and they've completely abandoned the idea. It's a gimmick that they never commit to.

I like the packaging from those 2002 Jakks figures.
The figures themselves, however, are hideous.
