Totally fantasy-booking here, but as a huge cheerleader for this line continuing as long as possible, I’m curious to gauge interest in transitioning this line into a subscription service. My thought is 1 year of 1 figure per month, still in same packaging but single packed (like Slaughter SDCC exclusive). Can opt out of any monthly selection (like the old Columbia Record Club model), *but* if you purchase every figure for the whole 12 months, you get a free bonus 13th figure. What do you all think? If it were to start after the Steamboat/DiBiase wave, based on who is available, we could go with:
1) Andre The Giant 2) Ultimate Warrior 3) Big John Studd 4) Iron Sheik 5) Bam Bam Bigelow 6) Big Bossman 7) Brutus Beefcake 8) Greg Valentine 9) “King” Harley Race 10) Honky Tonk Man 11) Bobby Heenan 12) Jimmy Hart 13) Hulk Hogan* (yellow trunks, bonus for full subscription collectors)
-Order can vary, of course, and if others are or become available, they could certainly be slotted in over Race or a manager.

I'd be very interested yeah but, not sure how interested Mattel would be after MOTU classics subscriptions ran its course. And I think once a month might be a bit much factoring in who they have available. I think every other month might work better. Also, i think Bob Orton might still be available to them. He had that legends figure and then a retro not too long ago.

Nope, 4 figs a year for as many years as possible. As talent continues to become available it could possibly go on like this for another 12-13 years.

I don’t care how I get them, as long as I get them.

I'd definitely go for this

I'd love to get as many as possible. My fear is that if they up production it just kills the line sooner when they run out of signed talent or guys they see as viable to sell.

If you haven’t noticed yet, Mattel does nothing that would make sense.

There are others for sure available too, like Albano, Davey Boy, Warlord, and The Bushwhackers (who are sort of options for this line). Also, unsure if Volkoff, Muraco or others are options.

My only thought would be especially in this day and age is it would definitely turn into a cash cow for Mattel, and probably nothing but negatives for us as the consumers. Would probably lead to rehashes, reused parts, money grabs.
Not trying to be crazy negative and I’d consider it but I don’t see it working out on our end with the way the world works these days haha.

I get that argument, but this line will run its course one way or another regardless. I just want to get as many as we can while talent are available and/or before Mattel/WWE loses interest in the line. Plus, once this line does end, maybe it frees up space for another homage line like Hasbro style cardback Ultimate Editions, which people have been asking about, LJN form factors (I know, I’m in the minority on wanting this), or a Hulk Hogan’s Rock n Wrestling animated style line!

I hated the DC Subscription Mattel did back when they had the DC license. You had to commit to it without knowing which characters were going to be in it. So that has turned me off to subscriptions.

Probably a pass for me. No real interest in most of the talent in those attires in UE. Andre and Savage are pretty much the only figs I would want and pretty much only Macho would really benefit from the UE treatment.

I haven’t had interest in a coliseum collection figure yet. Of these listed in the op I would probably only get Honky, Heenan and Valentine

Definitely not. CC period is before my peak interest and only a handful of talent interests me at this price point.
I’d hate to have to buy 12 figures just because there’s maybe 2 I’m interested in.

That makes me wonder if they could potentially carry on the CC line by pivoting to cartoon-based attires and simplified head scans inspired by the animated looks of the wrestlers. I suppose similar to what is being done with the Motu Origins filmation-style line.

Yes, MOTU Origins filmation style (now that I’ve gotten a closer look) would be fantastic for this! And a lot of the characters are still available!

I’d be all in, but there isn’t an LJN I wouldn’t want in UE form. Yes, even Ted Arcidi and SD Jones.
I would be concerned that this would quickly exhaust the available talent and cause the line to stall when it hit that point, though.
