Pretty much find an end game. I’ll be 51 this year. I need to start being very particular with what I collect going forward. I have two kids starting college next year. I’ve been saving for retirement already but need to pick up that pace as well. Don’t get me wrong I still like to collect. Just comes a point where it really makes no sense when there are much more important things at this stage of my life.

To control my fomo and be patient. I’m going to try and grab a majority of figures on sale/clearance this year.

Mine came to me late, as I was out hunting tonight....
Going to spend less time/effort trying to depend on retail stores for these figures. Last night I hit two Targets, tonight I hit two DIFFERENT Targets and a Walmart. Didn't see one single Elite figure either night. No Ultimates either. No Legends. Every store was pretty much empty, except for a few stray AEW figures and maybe an old Basic or two.
And I began questioning why I waste countless hours & gallons of gas driving around staring at empty shelves. Then usually buying $20-$30 worth of groceries "so the trip was worth something".... which basically means I've fallen for their trap. And not found ANY of the figures I went in there looking for. Because they don't care.
This isn't fun. This isn't satisfying. I'd say I come home totally empty-handed 85% of the time I go out looking for WWE figures. I pride myself on being thrifty, and VERY rarely ever paying above retail (or SALE, or CLEARANCE) for any of my figure purchases. But as I'm getting older, I'm finding the time at home to be valuable too. Maybe I should just depend more on Ringside & Amazon & occasionally ThE Bay for the stuff I really want, & spend more of my leisure time..... oh, I don't know, NOT being stressed about these stores that just don't care about stocking their shelves more than once or twice every-other-month?
So my New Year's Resolution is to stop doing this. I'll just order what I need online, check the stores when I'm going there anyway but not make all these extra wasted trips. I don't know what that means for the Monday Night Wars set, because I really want it.... but I can't see myself driving around nightly to every Walmart in a 30-mile radius & finding nothing. And probably spending $100 on groceries I may or may not need.... "to make the trip worthwhile".....
Gotta cut the retail cord, I think the money I'll save on gas alone (or un-necessary other purchases) will make up for the cost of just paying a scalper for the few figures I really want. I'm really sick & tired of being constantly disappointed by retail stores.

I was really good about not buying figures I didn't actually want (instead of giving in to fomo) last year and I'm really proud of that. I've gotten down to collecting 3 specific things, loose Codys (minus the UEs and Defining Moments), Loose New Gen and figures I'd want to get signed if I met that person.
This year I want to start actually displaying my collections instead of having them sit in tubs. My collection has slowed in growth considerably, probably for the best, and I do need to sell a lot of stuff I don't want anymore too. So maybe that will be another one, getting rid of the stuff I don't want anymore.

Mine are mostly non-wrestling related...
- In terms of wrestling figures, I'm already mostly limited to Golden- Early Ruthless Aggression figs for the most part. I'll venture outside of that for absolute banger figs, or UE's. But that is about it...
- Unfortunately, even though it was the line that got me back into collecting, I think Black Series is going to take a back seat this year. I definitely will be pre-ordering/paying retail for as few figures as possible...I just find that this past year I became less and less excited when a Black Series figure arrived in the mail.
- GI Joe Classified became a much larger part of my purchasing this year, but I definitely need to stop pre-ordering and paying full price for so many figs here as well.

Buy less: times are tough, I’m almost 40, I want more life adventures and less figures I don’t absolutely need.

I’m going to find a cure for FOMO If you could find and patent a cure for FOMO you'd be as rich as Bezos or Musk

-Be a little more proactive in buying figures I really want. Not buying more really, but jumping on something I want quicker instead of assuming it’s going to hang around on RSC. Been burned a couple of times by figures selling out.
-Open things in a timely manner. I had a stack of figures collecting dust that I finally just opened along with the ones my wife got me for Christmas. At some point it becomes a waste to just have them sitting there.
-Rearrange my displays. I need to totally rethink my Micro Brawlers set-up as they’re currently out of control, and my Mattel and Jazwares shelves definitely have space that can be better utilized. Might be time to abandon stands for Mattel figures entirely as well. That first one is so important to me, so much so that I've already placed my first order - all the figures from E107 that I MUST have, plus the three faces of foley pack. But the second? I'm so bad about opening figures that I had figures I never ordered from Black Friday 2022 that, this past christmas, I just shipped some of them off to my old college friend who is going through a rough time and couldn't afford to buy figures for her son (who loves wrestling). They'd sat in the bin for so long I decided 'eff it, he'll love them more' and sent them on their way. Actually felt pretty good to help her out. I hope her son enjoys the MVP, Bayley, Bianca, and Macho Man figures.
