I was trying to do it as feuds. And Santana vs Valentine had a great series of matches for the Intercontinental championship back in the day. Same with Steamboat and Muraco they had a fun series of matches in the Mid 80’s. I see the connections, just not sure Mattel would see them as marketable enough, especially with both feuds being prior to the rock ‘n wrestling boom period. Exactly i think the wwf boom started for most at wrestlemania 3/4 in 87/88. They saw hogan vs andre on vhs but chatter started in early 1988 after the announcement of the first royal rumble. That was the beginning of the mega powers as well. The 1st survivor series and the first summerslam in august 88'.

There are exceptions, of course, such as getting most of the WM 1 main event. But it seems like the nostalgia time- capsule focuses on Hulk-Andre, Savage-Steamboat, Mega Powers, etc. Not complaining, that’s my focus too, just an observation.

Tito Santana. Man, he was one of if not my favorite LJN. This would give Mattel the opportunity to make a short haired version with a new face scan and his blue trunks. Let’s go with Don Muraco to even out the heels and face characters.

Demolition please for the love of anything and everything
Ideally each figure would have 3 heads that have a different face paint

Question is, for MOC, go with more common (Hasbro style), or red/black alternate themed like the original LJN? I’d vote Hasbro style, myself, but wouldn’t be mad with LJN tribute face-paint.

Mattel could add multiple heads for each with different face paint, at least one from the early days of Demolition to match the original LJN (at least for Ax), and one of from their main run (1988-1990).

At this point, the only that seems all but certain is Ultimate Warrior.
If for the point of the post we assume Macho is no chance and we only have 2 more sets, I’d guess these: Ultimate Warrior / HTM Andre / Bam Bam Macho man / Liz (okay I guessed 3 - but I want my Macho/LJNs lol)

Demolition would be ideal with multiple heads with different paint/tongue out. The main head for Ax should be the one from the LJN, and the one for Smash should be the one from the back of the LJN card (white or silver base with black on one side and red on the other, shorter mullet. The alternates should be the main Smash design (no yellow) and Ax should be silver base with red around the eyes. There could also be a third with Smash's late 90-91 design and Axe with the black instead of the red.
Next option - Andre with either Studd or Heenan. Andre could be a 2 in 1 in trunks with fro head and short hair heads, alternate black boots, and cloth singlet. It would be different enough from the released version to justify it.

Strictly for LJN nostalgia I'd prefer the red paint MOC but I'd be fine with anything honestly. Ultimate Demolition figures would rule, especially in that vintage packaging

I finally got around to adding a profile pic/gif, honoring one of my all time favorites, Bam Bam Bigelow! I would love for him to appear in this line. Of who we assume to be available, my top wants are Bigelow and Big John Studd (a fan of the big guys!).

I think Albano is almost guaranteed for this set; His LJN (to me) was one of the most prominent of the orginal set!

Kinda hoping they pivot with this line. Quite too often they’ve taken liberties with the LJN design so might as well just abandon doing only characters and attires within that line. Just open it up to anyone that coulda potentially had an LJN.

I’d also question if managers really need the Ultimate articulation, but since we are getting an Ultimate Bischoff…

A lot of the characters and attires featured on the LJN line I have zero desire to spend $80 for. I begrudgingly picked up Hogan/Funk and have passed on every one else since. Hart Foundation I’m even on the fence about. None of these figures have that wow factor you’d expect from a premium $80 set.

Big John Studd would like to see next. In his red and black entrance coat that he wore at Wrestlemania 1. Magnificent Muraco - would absolutely love to own. With his tidal wave white shirt. Andre The Giant in Wrestlemania 1 attire. Mike Rotundo and Barry Windham would be a great set.

I’m displaying them MOC next to my LJN collection, and love the look, myself, but I recognize that it’s primarily for nostalgia and the packaging.

And if they were staying faithful to the LJNs then I’d be fine with them completing everyone they can. But they’re not. Piper doesn’t have red trunks, Hart Foundation aren’t the same attire, Funk doesn’t have the green chaps. So since we’re getting different attires why not give us different characters too.

Yeah, I wish they stuck closer to the original looks. Though if they ever get to guys like Don Muraco or The British Bulldogs, they would be very plain.
