No transparency for international users when/if they will get certain Walmart/Target exclusives. It's like they don't even care.

I have put WWE figures on the backburner for the last two months to get more up to date with the Mattel Masterverse figures. But yes, when there is alot more competition in the toy market, Mattel can't afford to go backwards and for me that is what they have done with their Elite packaging. I think it's a downgrade and the worst packaging they have used since they got the line.
Added that they didn't have an impressive showing at SDCC in my opinion. Not nearly enough FTITLs.

My level of interest always correlates primarily with the amount of WCW/NWO era legends we're getting, particularly "First Time In The Line" and "Deep Dive" names. The more of those we're getting, the more interested I am, and the more I spend. Secondary relevance is WWF Attitude era, again FTIL and deep dive in particular. And the third relevance is quality of headscans on Legends and new headscans, if it's an old headscan or a mediocre likeness I probably won't buy it. I also generally dislike smiling headscans and screaming headscans.
So with all that in mind, my interest in collecting is definetely lacking. I really would like to see Mattel add more depth to the WCW/NWO era roster.

I lost interest easily a few years ago but that really means I was never their target audience. They did, however, give me 3 versions of Ken Shamrock so I’ll always be grateful.

Price increase doesn't help either, paying almost 25 a figure after taxes now 🤦

Mostly the store exclusives for me.
Legends and UE being available in the U.K. is great but I'd love to collect the MNW line and can't see it happening. The most recent RA Ultimates have been impossible to find

It's always in waves for me. It depends on what's being released/what's available.
I'm primarily a legends collector and I'll occasionally pick up figures that are outside of that. But it can get frustrating with cost, bad distribution, pre-orders,etc.
I can take it or leave it honestly. When they put stuff out that I want, I grab it. But then sometimes I'll go months without buying anything. I look at it like sometimes it's a pretty active hobby and other times it's slow and I just concentrate on other things I like and put my money there.

It could be the long wait times, the delays the no longer teases or building excitement or leaks.

I prided myself on having the ultimate 80s Mattel collection. With Customs such as Tito in red and blue with Ariba Shirt, Snuka with tights and bare feet. Etc, the list goes on, but since the Legends slowed down, and all the other toy company's got deals the Mattel still cant get. it been heat breaking with the decline of 80s Legends.
The first few legend series where epic to say the least. But now it just seems once in a blue moon we get a new surprise in the line, and so many repeats of the same guy in different looks. Like the Hart Foundation for Colosseum and not in all Pink or the Blue from WM2. The redo's where the figs you bought for X has lost value. I still am ok with this as I got my Harley Race for the 2nd time now cheap. But nothing else. Barry Windown and Rotundo, are they not in contract > that should of been there instead with Capt Lou WM1 version, Jackets and all !!!
Well I sold my 5k collection this is my last round. As the line just seems like nothing special anymore. Maybe im stuck in the 80's. I bought all the JAKKS Classics had every last one. Mattel is awesome with their designs and the way the make it so real.. But if there is nothing 200 Brett and Hogans that I have waited months with my fingers crossed to be amazed. It just a sad day and a disappointment.
Hopefully they can get these contracts that everyone else somehow gets. And funny thing is these are small time toy makes, not the Beast Mattel is, so what the problem. Sorry to release but I send so much money 3 times on my Mattel collections. And Im not going back. so to answer your question, yes a decline in what I look for. Everyone else might be happy, can't please everyone. Just thought it was a big place for 80s to stand out and sell.

Burnout…I find that sometimes I experience that with all the lines I collect. Mattel WWE, Hasbro Marvel Legends, GI Joe Classifified. The burnout in Classified right now is not as great right now because they are getting out of that early stage of the line where there is still SO MUCH to release. Marvel Legends and Mattel WWE has released a HUGE portion of the iconic and highly requested looks for figures. They’ve both been on their current lines for over 10 years and so much of what we wanted has released. So hence the burnout. But what keeps me going is when they finally show that amazing figure we’ve been waiting so long for, then I’m back in. It ebbs and flows with all of us. Maybe that’s a good thing. Because you get to save some money now. That next fig that will have me all in by Mattel and feeling that sorta way is if they show ‘90-‘91 Haku, Singles Barbarian with all the trimmings, Early ‘90s Steiners, or Blue Pants ‘88-‘90 Koko B Ware

Yes, another reason as pointed out above. If tiny one man band companies can get these wrestlers under contract what utter garbage contracts are Mattel offering or not.
Loads of iconic wrestlers still to do in at least Elite form:
The Mountie The Rougeaus Koko B Ware Haku The Barbarian (singles & POP) King Kong Bundy (legends was ok needs a re do ) Model Rick Martel Akeem One Man Gang Bobby Heenan (manager) Hercules Power & Glory Andy Kaufman Cyndi Lauper Hillbilly Jim The Godwins The Legion of Doom Demolition (re releases needed in same packing) Crush Evil Crush NOD Crush Mr Fuji The Bushwackers Hacksaw Jim Duggan Inc 1993 blue singlet look The Genius Texas Tornado The Beverley Brothers Repo Man Skinner Papa Shango (needs a re do) Luna Steiner Brothers Giant Gonzalez Quebecers Long haired Bulldog Heel 123 Kid Savio vega Carlito Headbangers Ahmed Johnson LOD 2000 Hardcore Holly Sparky Plugg Sable Steve Blackman William Regal (early 2000s) / Steven Regal (blue bloods) Dudley Boyz (WWF & ECW looks) Stacey Keibler (Duchess of dudleyville) Spike Dudley

Some guy running a toy company out of a garage can get these guys under a deal but the largest wrestling promotion and largest toy company can’t offer a better deal to these legends. Ridiculous

I’ve been collecting Mattels since I first found Elite 1 CM Punk at Target around Christmas 2009. I’ve sold off most of my collection over the years but I always kept at least one or two of all my favorites. And now that I have Scott Steiner, I pretty much have at least one figure of everyone I was ever a fan of. Except for Raven. So, I guess call me if they ever make a Raven, which I don’t expect to happen anytime soon. Until then, I guess I’m all good.

Enough of us Brits keep banging on about being screwed over where, retailers (basically Smyths) decied not to take certain lines or if they do the seling prices are questionable. And internet based sellers then do then import US stores exclusives then passing on to us the buyers a ridiculous prices. So we are looking at £40-5o for figures which is unjustifiable. Its like Hasbros eem to care much more about the Uk with all their figure lines than Mattel does. Making them available and reasonably priced. There are some nices figures being revealed across many WWE lines, but availability and pricing is mkaing us all loose interest. And sadly things will never change.

The line's been around for 13 years. I think it's only natural for there to be some burnout, as others have mentioned.
I do think the lack of fresh faces among legends talent is a factor for sure for us diehards. It's not exciting to get the 15th different version of someone we've already gotten so many times. At the same time, I do think we need to realize and acknowledge that in the year 2023 getting obscure legends from 20-30 years ago isn't exactly moving the needle business-wise for Mattel. I want a Mattel Adam Bomb as much as the next guy on here, but the Quebecers and the Godwinns aren't "saving" the line lol (as much as I may personally want them myself). Current product may not be the top priority for us diehards on message boards but WWE is hot right now and they're still pumping out incredible figures.
I myself am far more pumped about the AEW line and the Zombie Sailor figs and Powertown these days, so I understand a bit of a malaise feeling with this line. But I do also think the quality of the Mattel figs is better than ever and we need to be realistic about wanting obscure legends that really only us diehards (still a very small percentage of overall Mattel buyers) want.

There's 60 wrestlers I still want for my collection, and only 13 of them are signed. And those 13 get figures made occasionally, but never in the specific attires I want.
Hard to get excited.

The figures have been great overall, but I'm also losing steam. I haven't been collecting since the beginning, but am 7=8 years in at this point. I have hundreds of figures, and space (and RSC stands) is at a premium. There have been so many repeat characters - I don't have the same energy for my 19th HBK as I did for my second or third. And the product has been early impossible to find at retail and doesn't seem to be getting restocked at RSC. I was waiting to find figures like Chainsaw Charlie or Faarooq at retail and they just...never arrived. In past years I would have paid third party markups to buy them, but at this point it hasn't bothered me nearly as much as it would have in the past.
I like the products they're putting out. But fatigue and lack of availability has really suppressed how much money I am spending these days.
