Listening to this week’s MWFP right now and they bring up some fair criticisms. Some of them I can shed some light on: VintageFigs1 was very fixated on the hand tape discrepancies. The initial 2D drawing that was shared with me did not include this detail. In many reference photos, you cannot see the tape in his palm from the front. While inspecting one of the 3D sculpts, I made note that the finger tape was missing. No excuses on my end for primarily focusing on the front side and failing to notice the hand tape was absent. The face was revised many, many times. One such revision required a significant change to the original design. In every revised version of the 3D sculpt, the mustache was connected. In fact, I’m fairly certain the final version was connected as well but the way in which it was designed might not have translated to the mold. I’m not the one submitting it to the factory so I cannot say that I am 100% certain on which version made it. Even so, it should have been painted to connect in my opinion. I’m going over pictures and videos from 6 months ago as I had spent hours finding reference photos and giving detailed feedback to improve the Macho Mouth. If a suggestion isn’t taken, I often times assume it is either a stylistic choice or too late in the process to adjust. The yellow…I’m going to have to kind of agree to disagree with D Freedom on this one. The color of his boots and such varies greatly depending upon what you are looking at. If you watch it on video or look through some of the darker photos then yes, Randy’s boots were more school bus than neon. But if you look at the well-lit, high resolution photos, they are unquestionably a lighter shade. I guess where his argument kind of becomes questionable is that he will point out the shade of the boots needing to be darker without acknowledging that the trunks, skin, hair, and literally everything else in the frame is also darker. In short; it depends upon the lighting. Matt's criticisms are frankly hilariously inept considering the fact that he actually condones the ZST Savages... One looks like Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger and the other looks like a Spitting Image puppet.

I wouldn’t put too much into anything Dfreedom says
But the stache and beard should connect.
Still nice figures
(I haven’t heard the show so I won’t comment on that but it’s not like the Major products don’t have issues too, so…)

Im not going on the attack or anything close to that. I’m not beefing with Matt or trying to upset him. This is literally an opportunity to address the elephant (or 3Lephant if you wiiilll) in the room. He asked how some of these things could be missed and I was doing my best to help give him some answers. He has been nice enough to do so in the BRG thread and I’m hoping this helps open up a better dialogue. I have more to offer this community than being viewed as an a-hole and I have been using his words to try and better myself instead of being nothing but bitter.
A lot of those criticisms are valid and can be used as learning experiences. Do I think it was buried a bit too much over the tape? Yes. Do I wish they spent the same amount of time and effort picking apart similar things? Sure. But being defensive about these things is not going to improve the product that is already released. Many people love it - I love it. It isn’t perfect but it is so damn toyetic and something as a whole that I think Jack and others involved should be proud of it.
I think there have been a lot of learning experiences with Series 2 and much like we have seen with Hasttel and Epic - things are going to see improvements with every series.

I don't think anyone is trying bury anyone, but it's legitimately true that Matt's approval of the ZST Savages versus his criticisms of the WSW versions is nothing short of comical. Whether his criticisms are honest, or hold water, is neither here nor there, imo, unless he is equally open and honest about any issues he has with those ZST Savages... Because if he doesn't have any, he's potentially partially sighted and/or just being a ZST shill.

It didn’t come across that way to me… What’s the issue with the hand tape?

walter7paisley It’s been addressed before that the Heels and Faces line is their personal preference and that is perfectly fine. We all get that right. Their show has improved with more distributed criticism, willing to give other companies the benefit of the doubt, or just choosing not to say something to avoid the drama. I commend them for that. In this instance it’s slightly different because I can speak to what was asked/what was being said. The only thing that I would want to see changed is for that same level of criticism be applied everywhere including Zombie and even their own lines sometimes. kiphouse - No, there wasn’t any real burial. There was an unusual amount of time spent on what improvements could have been made and raising questions. The point of my original post was to offer an explanation of how or why some of those things happened. Matt openly asked questions so I was trying to help answer them. Kojikanemoto had already brought up the mustache issue so I thought addressing everything all at once would be a better service to the community.

Fig Collections Macho I. Classic pink tights is really good. The only retro I was sort let down by was the gangrel but even then, early in the game, it was decent. Also the WSW retros don't release a toxic smell like G&G retros.

Overall the Heels & Faces is my personal preference for these Hasbro style figures. Idc about comparisons to OG Hasbro’s, etc.
But even I can look at ZST Machos that he’s shown so far, and those things look horrible
I had zero interest in getting a new Hasbro style Macho of any kind (I have the 1st Hasbro and that’s good for me)
I saw the WSW surprise drop, and I thought they look great. I bought the one in trunks. Haven’t gotten it in hand but I think it looks awesome in pics I’ve seen. Excited to have it coming

kojikanemoto - Savage would sometimes wear tape on both hands and around his fingers as well. The left hand of the WSW figure has that but the right hand doesn’t. I think the FC team is collectively taking ownership of that (I know I feel bad for missing it). I took Matt’s question to heart and went back through all of the conversations I had with Jack. I too wanted to know how it was missed. As mentioned before, I had caught the missing tape on the finger and made mention of it in the notes I shared with the FC team. This would have been around March and I was going off of the 2D drawing and the very first 3D drawing which had no molded tape of any kind at that stage. It wasn’t known to me if there were plans to mold it or paint it or what. What I recall about that time was that there were a lot of hurdles early on, I communicated what changes I thought needed to be made, and then the focus unexpectedly shifted to a more pressing matter (an unexpected request from the licensor). I didn’t see a painted version of Macho until I believe July? So even though there were 3D sculpts looked at and discussed in between March and July, there was just so much that happened in that time that the tape on his finger and the backside of the the 3D model weren’t at the front of my mind. I don’t think I saw the back side of the painted version until ~7 weeks ago. It just didn’t stick out to me when I viewed that update. I cannot put over Jack enough with how hard he works. What I’m doing is for fun and to fulfill a dream. Jack is the one out there making the deals and putting everything together. He’s working on the BCW line which had releases during this, working on finishing up WSW Series 1, working on WSW series 2 and even series 3, he has the Comedy Bang Bang line that launched, and he is running the physical FC store. He also sometimes kayfabes other things he has been working on until he is ready to announce it either to his team or publicly. That kind of drive is impressive. So although I talk a lot on here about the little involvement I have, it is never intended to seem as though I am speaking on their behalf. The things I have been privileged enough to help with are not even 1/10,000 of what the FC Team is doing. Personally, I hate making mistakes but it also motivates me to work harder to avoid these things as much as possible and to strive towards making other collectors happy. I think this Macho Man achieved that quite well. With most of Series 2 being finished from the design aspect, Crush is the next “big” project that I’ve been fortunate enough to help with. Rather than stewing in the negativity, I’m driven even more to learn from prior mistakes and do better starting with him!

Oh ok. I noticed the right hand having no tape but just figured whatever reference they had was without it for whatever reason. Not a huge deal. Better than what Mattel did.

Criticism of the WSW versions of Savage is fine, but be honest about the ZST versions as well, if fair judgement of these lines is actually what you aim to put out, real honesty, otherwise it's nothing short of arse-kissing from Matt and co, and when I say "arse-kissing, I mean that their lips are so close to Josh's arse that they can probably taste his lunch. This is why I'm not interested in the world of the Major Pod... They come across as insincere Fanboys and social media darlings in the wrestling figure world, a world where their opinions are driven more by monetary gain than actual, honest interest in giving a fair opinion. Let's be honest, ZST's Savages are a mess, lol.

I love the WsW Savage. I think he looks amazing. My only constructive would be to increase the size of the feet and hands slightly to be more in line with the source material. Other than that, I think this release is beautiful and rivals the OG Savage.

ZST's Savages are a mess, and there may be criticism due for the WSW Savage, but lets face it - Jack's putting figures out, into people's hands, whilst we're still looking at artwork from ZST (and it doesn't even look good!) and still MWFP have nothing positive to say
I don't like that the WSW Savage figs have little/no playability in them (unless you're doing a new take on Fingerpoke of Doom?) but they're not bad looking figures, and again - they actually exist.
their podcast is little more than an advert for their own lines now - they admit their bias, but their pod is no longer a "voice of collectors" and more "voice of shills"

I think WsW Savage can elbow drop, elbow to the head, suplex, eye poke, bulldog, etc. so, I think he’s pretty playable IMHO. 😊

OH YEAH ☝🏻 God, that Mattel Savage is bloody woeful! The WSW version looks much better, and closer to a Hasbro version. Nice picture 👍

I’m going to change my story and say the missing tape was a tribute to the Hasbro Macho #1…

The Buff and Patriot preorders dropped this morning are nice looking, but I am very era specific with Hasbros and retro figures, so a pass for me.
