Not wanting to sell my collection or quit collecting completely but I'm definitely slowing up on buying WWE figures lately. I think it has more to do with how much room my collection takes up then anything but I've slowed down on buying almost everything I collect the last few months

Im running out of space and the prices, even at retail, have gotten silly. Not to mention I was going to buy two new Detolfs and those went from, $60 a piece to now $130 so certainly cooled me off.

I'm not checking out - but I'm definitely slowing right down... mainly due to collector fatigue (after collecting the line for 14 years). The new sucky Elite and Legends packaging doesn't really make me want to buy many new figures either.
So now I'm mostly collecting Ultimate Editions and FTITL Legends or Flashback figures (eg. the Steiners, Brother Love, Captain Lou etc.).

I’m facing a similar but much different situation … I’m also a Moc collector & I recently went through a third divorce, my collection has been packed up in boxes in storage since the end of May because I don’t have the space at the moment to display … having to have everything packed away has pretty much killed the collecting itch I’ve had for years, I now have the mentality of “why should I buy something just to take it & pack it away in a box?” … I still check the figure section when I’m in Walmart & I still look through RSC & other sites that sell them but I haven’t bought any figures in months … I have no desire to sell my collection but no desire to add to it either … now if I seen a figure that I absolutely couldn’t live without ( for lack of a better term ) I would absolutely pick it up but that hasn’t happened for most of the reasons you have listed here yourself … I don’t really feel that I have “checked out” so to speak but it’s been put on the back burner in a major kind of way

It’s not really a sellers market anymore, especially with all the re-release potential that Mattel is fulfilling.
I agree with some of the others that if you’re a long time collector and you want to pause, cool but I wouldn’t sell your collection, I think things will pick up and you would regret it.
In the meanwhile, maybe look at focussing on starting another collection, even if a small one. When the elite/ultimate game isn’t scratching my itch or hitting a lull period, I had my Hasbro collection to complete - now that I’ve done that, I have retros, zombies, Chella etc the ‘new age’ retros to collect which I have my own rules for (only buying anyone released that Hasbro could have or should have up to just before Jakks released their first series)

One of the biggest things that reinvigorated my collecting was going loose. I had always been a MOC collector but it just got impossible. I have a lot more enjoyment now and things are easier to get. I opened hundreds and was worried about it but it’s the best thing I ever did. I’m

They have started to become insulting. As collectors and wrestling fans we know what superstars wear at specific events. The Rock with a brahma bull design on the front of his trunks for his Wrestlemania 28 attire? One of the biggest matches in wrestling history. How can they get that wrong? Im sure that even a casual fan will know what The Rock wore in that match.
They have given us reason to check out recently. Putting Nicholas in the Wrestlemania line - it's insulting. The downgrade of the new elite boxes. I haven't heard any positive comments about the new packaging. Randy Savage being removed from the line, then not immediately giving an explanation which at the time frame was necessary because it came during SDCC weekend and put a dampener on the event for alot of people. Then when they did explain about a month after getting all technical about it "we didn't say anything about it because no one asked" I didn't like that personally. Yes I guess it's enough reason to want to check out, but that's my opinion.
Saying that, I like the new Survivor Series packaging and hopefully will be getting the series. Im glad they kept the old box design for it, Kevin Owens looks great, accurate shirt design, plastic molded shirts suits him perfectly. Charlotte Flair im looking forward to getting also because it compliments Becky Lynch from the last Survivor Series and am looking forward to putting them next to eachother.
There are a couple of other new series that im interested in but yes there are levels of excitement to get these things. The four pack "Then, Now, Forever, Together" set for example. The Becky Lynch figure when it was previewed at Wrestlemania Access, looked perfect and to me a must have figure. But when it was put in a four pack it dampened my interest.

My WWE collecting has slowed down massively over the last year. It's been a combination of figures I don't need in the WWE line and the fact that I've branched out into Black Series, Marvel Legends, DC McFarlane and other misc stuff.
I'm much more selective in my Elites and ultimates nowadays.

For me it is a space issue that has been making me question calling it a day. I only have so much space in my game/toy room and I do not want my collection to start spilling out into other parts of the house. I am kind of at a point now where when I do buy something new I have to put something away or do some major reorganizing.
It was the last retro set that did it for me. In the months leading up to them, I was so excited, but at the time they went up for pre-order, I simply could not justify spending £60 on a set of wrestling figures, I am not broke or anything like that, but with a few video games on pre-order not to mention Christmas coming up, several family members having birthdays and a vacation in October, there were many other things that I felt that 60 pounds could be better used for, plus I had no idea where I would put four new figures! I may get them in the new year if they are still available, but as awesome as they are, I could happily live without them.
Also, this may sound kind of weird, but I am kind of in a really happy place in my life right now where I am just content, happy and appreciate the things that I do have. Do not get me wrong, I see new Star Wars, Turtles, MOTU and WWE figures and collectibles and think they are cool, but that burning desire or "need" for a figure or collectible feels like it has gone with me and I am just cool with what I have. Perhaps it is just me getting older? I have also been thinking about downsizing some of my collection recently!

"Checking out," never; I've been in this game since Hasbro and it has always been fun to me. More critical, absolutely. 'cause if I'm gonna pay all this money for the product, the least the manufacturer & end retailer can do is care or offer 100% transparency for the things I'm paying for.

I think Mattel’s in kind of a rough spot. They’ve had the license for 15 years and there’s just not a lot of lineups left they can put out that really wow the consumer. Seems they’ve went the route of offering more niche characters and attires as of late which I personally love but I just don’t know how many other people get super excited about the Sultan or workout gear/japanese hogans or street gear hall and nash again. I was just talking about this to a friend. I love the fact they are digging into the well with things like Sultan and Fake Diesel, but only doing so because they are seemingly running out of juice is unfortunate. I don't think the line is anywhere near going away and for all of its faults, I still hope Mattel keeps the line forever, but they should have spaced out the big drops out with these obscure figures a long time ago. Granted it would lead to people bitching as to why we got Sultan before X look of X wrestler, but I think it would have been better for the overall health of the line. My current theory is with the advent of UEs they see it as a chance for a soft reset, re-release the big tickets they already made as UEs and all future ones will be UEs which are much fewer and farther between release wise and use the elites as a place to put out the obscure and more modern stuff like a Johnny Gargano or Dominik Mysterio (who will absolutely get a UE one day, mark my words).

I know they usually take a break after SDCC but haven't seen him much activity at all, let alone here.

I knew they were going to pull that Sultan chestnut out. Going through ideas of the Wrestlemania 13 roster for the WMXL series...."Goldust? He's in AEW. Ahmed Johnson? Bad terms. Crush? Not under contract. Owen Hart?Ahhh we have Fatu under a different gimmick. That will do "

Lol while not every fig is perfect, this is legit the GOLDEN AGE of wrestling figures. They’re so damn good compared to what we’ve had and we get a lot of them. Stop being so dramatic.

I made the decision along time ago that when Mattel stops, I stop. It'll be hard - but I can't start over again. I was there for the Hasbros, the Galoobs, the Original ECW figures, Jakks & now Mattel. No, can't start over again. 🥵

I am going through a similar situation. I am in the uk, and the price of one standard legends elite figure is unreal over here.
The ultimates were a great line, but they have lost something recently. The effort from mattel is minimal, we seem to have come to a point where they dont feel they have to be selective and accurate with part choices. Also, i refuse to pay $55 (£45) for one standard current figure. So the legends are not an option due to them being around $35 per figure retail - the ultimates are not an option at that price point either so im at a bit of a stand still. I have a huge collection of elites/ultimates/legends/retros/superstars...the only problem is the prices, and the stupid choices. I mean...i love brother love. I really do, but his face is just unforgivable lol. Nothing on earth is that red.
On top of all that....im still mourning the loss of who i think was wwe's only interesting character- Bray Wyatt. Suddenly all of my interest in wrestling has died down. I know its stupid but i felt he was the one guy connecting the old product to the new. Its just...not a good time for some wrestling fans lol.
