Yeh I just saw this, it's a nice piece for JP fans. Jurassic Park as a franchise isn't something I'm that into personally, but I actually do collect the Hammond Collection just because they're nice dinosaur figures. I have no interest in the humans, accessories or fictional dinosaurs, but I'll buy all the real dinosaurs they make and I hope they make lots more, including all the real dinosaurs featured in the film, a bigger Triceratops hopefully (since the previous one was way too small), and also (real) dinosaurs not featured in the films if possible, like a Plesiosaurus. Licensors should allow toy companies some freedom to expand the franchises IMO. Feels to me like that's basically what's going on here...the Metriacanthosaurus was just in Hammond Collection and that's never even been on screen I don't think other than a name written on a DNA tube. I have a few of the Plesiosaurus figures from the Camp Cretaceous line and it's pretty decent...also the Dino Trackers Elasmosaurus. For the Triceratops, you might want to look at the Habitat Defender which has less articulation but is a lot bigger in size.

Is this crowdfund 3.75 inch scale? Yes. It says the explorer is scaled to the 3.75” figures

Probably going to miss the early bird tier here which is a bummer and is kind of setting up the bigger bummer of this not happening. I'm not sure what the future holds but I'm hoping if it's on display at SDCC people will be wowed by it and there's a chance we could still see it happen. My optimism is waning, though.

It's remarkable to me how Mattel never seems to learn from its crowdfunding mistakes. They literally are the Buzz Killington of the toy world at times.

The SDCC Exclusive this year is a Spielberg and Dilophosaurus figure. I will always love Spielberg but I don't really have any desire to have his action figure. Good Dilophosaurus for anyone who missed out on the Hammond Collection, though.
I'm looking forward to seeing the gates in person, if only to just feel sorry for myself over something I'll never get haha. They're just too cool.

31% and less than a day to go, pretty hopeless at this point. Real shame for JP fans.
hopefully "manufacture-on-demand" or "print-at-home" will become more practical in terms of quality and cost for these types of projects one day so we aren't reliant on hitting the minimums of crowdfunds.
Then maybe we can finally get our Nitro stages, JP gates, and so many of the other obscure pieces and giant playsets of our childhood dreams.

Huge bummer but a good point in terms of 'on-demand'. While I'm not ever going to be thrilled about paying an absurd amount for a toy I would have easily paid a higher price to get the gates because those were basically #1 on my list of wants.
Likely just going to have to see what people come up with from a fan perspective...hopefully something good.
