I'd probably get my favorites (Bengals and Sabres) if they expanded to NFL and NHL, but that'd be it. Fifty apiece is nuts. Not sure what Hasbro's deal is anymore, but they're losing their minds or they know something I don't about action figure collecting. I'd rather pick up a bunch of old SLUs or McFarlane figures than get one of these. I could throw in a little more and buy that Anthony Muñoz from the 80s I could never afford. I could be way off base here, but I genuinely think companies saw the 2nd hand market explode during covid and thought "dayum, lemme get some of that money". crap has went up 20-25% at retail. That's a big amount. Could definitely be the case. Problem now is everyone ran out of money and they're not paying those same prices on the secondary market anymore.

I think that’s 100% accurate. “If people are willing to pay x on eBay!” Different market. What I’m willing to pay as markup on vintage Star Wars figure isn’t the same I’m willing to over pay on for new release modern figures. Hasbro should have stayed in their lane.
They announced NFL today. I think that’s an even bigger obstacle than basketball. 32 teams, 53 players a team, 6 figures a wave... It’ll be 2 years before most of us get even one player from our favorite team. Would love Roquan Smith, or any Bears legends (Sweetness, Dent, Urlacher, Hester, etc.), but it’s so far fetched in my mind that they’ll get to any of those guys.
I’ll get Brady. I’m sure he’ll be in the first wave. That’ll probably be it other than Legends. Maybe I’d get JJ Watt and Aaron Donald? Guys I know are going to the HoF that I appreciate. I like Joe Burrow a lot, but at $50 and not knowing what he’ll be 5 years from now, even though he seems like he’ll be around a long time, I don’t think I’d spend the money.
This whole thing is so frustrating. If these are $25 figures I just buy them and don’t have to do any of this internal negotiation with myself.

Its no way at this price I'm gonna allow myself to have a big collection of these. I got so excited when I first heard the news of them returning, then its been disappoint after disappoint ever since. NFL and NBA(very few) are the only ones ill be interested in,not big enough of a baseball guy to pay $50(well maybe a legends Pedro). I do need a Micah,Dak,Zeke,Diggs,Booker,CP3,Bridges and Ayton for the current guys and the list of legends is gonna get me in A LOT of trouble. Give me Emmitt,Witten Romo,Nash,AI and Barkley please

After seeing these my first thought was that Hasbro should know better. It's not a secret that a lot of us still collect SLUs from 1988 and 1989 and the biggest reason, imo, is nostalgia. These have zero nostalgia to them aside from the name. I guess maybe Hasbro is trying something new and/or trying to appeal to a new generation of collectors, but I don't see them reeling anyone in with these prices. The only 4 people I'd pay $50 for are Tom Brady, Bo Jackson, Kobe, and Michael Jordan. And to be honest the windowless packaging is a huge deal breaker for me. If they did these in retro packaging, had actual Starting Lineup cards (not Panini Elite 🤮), and put the price under $30 then I'd buy whatever they throw at us.

Wasn't the original MSRP of these around $5 back in the day?

If they did these in retro packaging, had actual Starting Lineup cards (not Panini Elite 🤮), and put the price under $30 then I'd buy whatever they throw at us. Hasbro has been looking to aggressively expand their profits, and the easiest way to do that is with high margin items. They've been creeping the prices higher on the "base" items in most lines, and then adding in a ton of super premium offerings. There's a Magic: The Gathering release that's $1k for 4 packs of cards. It doesn't cost them significantly more to print those than the run of the mill pack that sells for $4. I'd have been all over a retro style SLU line at somewhere around $12-15, in line with their other "retro" lines. But I have zero interest in a $50 articulated figure. McFarlane put out some of the most accurate and detailed figures ever, and that line pretty much withered up and died once the price point hit $20-25. This feels like a huge reach, but maybe the premium price point and sneaker detail appeals to a certain segment of the market that's different from long time toy collectors. I'm feeling major fatigue from Hasbro's games. But it seems like I'm in the minority, and people continue buying.

Fanatics has all of NBA series 1 for $40 each. Pulse is also doing 20% off or 25% off for members with their discount code. So for anyone who had a threshold for these at $40 each instead of $50.

Hasbro Pulse adjusted the price on all of the basketball figures to $30 each. Not sure if this is a good sign or bad, but it’s a price I can live with on these.

Great price on these couldn't justify 50.00 bucks Jayson Tatum taco sneakers are making me lean towards getting him., plus they added the backboard. Might have to grab the backboard.

It sounds like this is a promo for the All-Star game a few weeks out. They still are full price everywhere but Pulse. I got Tatum from preorder since I’m primarily a Celtics fan. I like other guys in the line but I haven’t even opened my Tatum yet as I’m not sure where I will display him so I think I’m holding for now unless any other Celtics or Suns get released.

If they can stick around the $30 mark,I can deal with that but anything more is to much. Ill take any Suns players at that price.

If they do MLB or NHL I’m in. I’d love some New York Yankees or New York Rangers figures.

Was able to find Series 1 at a local comic book shop for $30 a pop. And while I was supposed to immediately get Tatum (Celtics fan here), I had to get LeBron. All hail The King.

Have they announced the NFL lineup yet? Seems like they revealed it months ago.

I don’t think so. But hopefully there’s a Raider in it. Maybe Crosby?

If they're still going to make these, Pulsecon next month would probably be when Hasbro would announce a lineup.

I don’t think so. But hopefully there’s a Raider in it. Maybe Crosby? If it's current then I would guess Jacobs, although I'd definitely prefer Crosby. If it's legends then it's gotta be Bo Jackson 🤞
