So, the Vinimates set is sold out…on Preview Night.

Years ago, Palisades toys had an exclusive that sold out on Preview Night.

For the rest of the Con, every time I passed their booth, it was surrounded by people complaining that there was no exclusive for the actual Con itself.

As the Con went on, there were less and less people doing the surrounding.

On the last day, I asked one of the employees where she would be working next year.

Sure enough, before the next SDCC, Palisades had gone out of business.

At the next Con, I saw the same employee working for a different company. I walked up to her and said, “Told you so. Glad you found a new job.” She just shook her head and gave a sad chuckle.

Comic Con is the golden opportunity for a company to make a ton of money off of their exclusives. After all these years, Diamond Select Toys should know that.

The Vinimates set will come back to the website, we did NOT sell out at the show on Preview Night, only online. We sold 100 sets online, and a few hundred at the show. All remaining con inventory will be available in a week or so, another 100 or so. We only made 500.

Are action figures completely out of the question? Obviously jazwares has the 7” line but could you do another size, similar to how Bandai did the figarts at a different scale even though mattel had the wwe master license?

Technically, Minimates are very small action figures. No realistic action figures planned. Our realistic figures are all 7 inch scale, and I doubt AEW would ever cannibalize their Jazwares line by starting up a second figure line.

The next pre-order, I'm not sure. CM Punk just went up for pre-order officially yesterday. I'm sure it will be a few months before we offer the next diorama or the next Minimates set. The next dio MIGHT be Mox, or it might be another one, we've been tweaking the Mox. We've also designed a few exclusives, but I'm not sure where those have been placed yet.

That's great news, thank you for the update. 

I'm definitely looking forward to more dioramas (wish they were coming out sooner! haha)

When you mention the exclusives, are these meant to be retail exclusives or, similar to the CM Punk/Sting, convention exclusives? I'm new to DST, so I'm not sure what the distribution normally looks like.

Just arrived today, really happy with how extra Diamond went in protecting these for shipping. Also, I don't think I noticed the detail before than all of Punk's tattoos are done in Vinimates style.

I just had a quick question about the preorder process. So, just to make sure I have it right: There will be a .1 cent hold put on the card to ensure it's real, which then falls off, then the full amount including shipping is charged once the item is actually ready?
