I just don’t get the need to have everything. This Brodie doesn’t look that special and shouldn’t be a glaring hole in anyone’s collection if they miss out. Why is it such a big deal that you can’t get it? Is it really killing you to know that something exists in the world that you can’t have? This.
Perhaps their completionist behavior stems from some sort of OCD? Also, if you REALLY want THIS figure for YOUR collection ... you can get it. Money will not sway you. If you just HAVE to have it ... the Bay is there for you and you CAN have it. So if you ask me, lots of the complainers simply want to one day flip this figure (or own something with value) ... and they're sour they can't get it for cheap from the start. Why flip something you yourself had to pay a lot for they'll say. Other than OCD, it's the only logical explanation. This figure is obtainable, this figure will not be worth anything amazing in 20 years, and dozens upon dozens of companies have a con exclusive only.
Truly amazing how you continue to have the absolute worst takes on this, repeatedly

Sorry you can't get it cheaper. Life is not fair sometimes. But you will survive ... and even own this figure if you simply must have it. Period. There will be 1000 of them supposedly. Jeremy is not running some secret scheme to make billions off of this. Rarity and collectors items have been around ... forever.
The entitlement generation will learn that eventually.

The entitlement generation will learn that eventually. No I’m not a completionist because they’ve decided they don’t want my money or to let me be one. Thank god this figure is some made up attire so I don’t feel anything about not having it but if you would actually read the thread you would see people saying how they’re tired of attires being kept behind this 1 of _____ bs “Life is not fair”, “entitlement generation”, do you even see a goddamn thing you’re typing? Because wow it’s very cringeworthy. You’re mad that people are saying they’d like to buy something but can’t. That’s sooooo entitled amirite? Wanting to give people money in exchange for something Does buying the camo Adam Cole make me entitled? What about red tights Edge? Is it entitled to want Molly Holly in blue? You’re right, Jeremy isn’t making billions off of this, which is why it’s even more baffling that he’s doing it. But everything else he does is a grift so

This doesn’t look like a must have figure. It seems like it’s a special treat for those attending the convention. But if you’re a completionist or you just can’t stand someone else having something that you don’t then this isnt impossible to get. You just have to pay. That sometimes happens when you’re that obsessive about a hobby. If you’re incapable of saying to yourself “I don’t need it” then there are going to be occasions when you have to dig deep into those pockets.

The entitlement generation will learn that eventually. It's not that it's your opinion, which would be fine. It's that you feel compelled to be an insufferable ass about it while sharing it. Repeatedly. I'm not sure how old you are, but to me, as a 40 year old, your outdated, boomer way of thinking is archaic and of the past. I'm assuming you've used the Fox News "Oh, this generation is poor because of avocado toast", haven't you? Clown.

The best use of exclusives is to get items to market that would be difficult to produce or sell in the usual formats that a line has available at traditional retail. Those are the kind of exclusives that benefit both toy lines and collectors; they engender goodwill for a line because the offering was obviously unlikely, so the release in any format feels special or generous. Mattel's WWE exclusives often hit this mark.
Complaining about the backlash to this based on the premise of ill-defined "entitlement" or appeal to status quo misses the point: this is a lazy exclusive with a bad release strategy that does nothing for the line or its customer base. This is yet another decision made to grease the secondary market with the mistaken belief that aftermarket value is a driver of interest in this line, which is neither sustainable nor considerate towards the fanbase. At no point was a smart, responsive, or even self-aware decision made here.

It doesn't make sense to make chases so limited when the standard versions are difficult enough to find. Every trip to the toy section to find new releases feels like a chase.
With that said, the SDCC Brodie Lee figure is a glorified party favor. My reaction to the reveal video was, "Don't I have this already?"

I said this a few months ago, but I stand by it. I don't understand the "Limited to a number" approach. Mattel do great with their Chases and they're mostly readily available, why can't they do that with the AEW line? Exactly this! I collect WCW figures in the Mattel line. I'm honestly not too worried about finding an orange trunks Lex Luger in Legends 15 due to how Mattel does their chases. There's good odds I'll find one in stores, and if I don't, I'll probably pay at most $15-20 more on Ebay than a normal figure. With AEW, I've only ever seen one chase and that's because I got it sent to me by Ringside. There's people I like to try to buy every figure released of, and I had thought of doing that with Hangman, but the moment they announced a chase of him, I knew there was no reason in even trying.

Maybe a tad late to the party but as someone in the UK we get it even worse than the US, given we get none of the exclusives from Walmart, Gamestop, etc. Ringside is our only hope for some exclusive figures and they're either the ones going straight to RSC or a literal 1 in 3000/5000 chance of getting a random chase in the mail. Nobody in the UK ever gets chases unless they're secondhand.
Our biggest retailer Smyths gets almost a full set in, they've started skipping the women in sets (Statlander, Nyla) but we don't see a single chase over here on a brick and mortar shelf. I don't know if it's depressing or infuriating, it varies person by person, but for me it's just draining when you have someone so crazed on collecting and NFTs/crypto like Jeremy Padawer that wants to suck all the life out of a line just to have some special stickers on the box.
The Mattel way of things is great and they very likely know that. Despite having no exclusive sets like Legends, Superstars or the CE figures we still get chases in, which at this point is pretty close to the bare minimum for collectors.
Jeremy has very likely said he'll do something for the UK or distribution in general but we've seen absolutely nothing. I love AEW's figures and the product overall and I'll keep buying the ones I want but knowing there's no real sense of a hunt for a special variant does take away a lot of the excitement in getting new figures.

Is AEW showing anything at SDCC? I just want some classic Crow Stings, anything from '96-00 will do.

Didn't Jeremy do a poll a while back asking what looks we wanted for Sting? Amongst them, I remember seeing Surfer,'97, Wolfpac etc.. I also believe it'll be very easy for them to get away with the Crow considering it's the same attire he wore for a while on AEW. Only differences would be his hair was longer, his boots were taller, leg pads and physique. They could also alter the packaging with a modern picture of him.

Every time the line of questioning comes up about classic looks the design team always say something suggesting they can’t do attires from WWE. Think they pretty much said that was the reason why they had to do CMLL Jericho and why Owen is NJPW.

Im not a completist, no need or want the figure either. I still think its a shady way to release it. If i was any of the above id still think it was a shady way to release it.

Artificial scarcity is such a fascinating look at willingness to pay. But if it wasn't successful, companies wouldn't do it.
That reminds me, I really outta hit up eBay to pick up that store exclusive bone crunchers Yokozuna that wasn't available in Canada. Damn thing is cheaper to get off eBay now than when I was a kid lol.

The entitlement generation will learn that eventually. This is honestly the most brain rotted take I’ve seen on this site. I will never understand why regular people dunk on their own class to simp for some corporate higher ups trying to gauge their customer base for as much money as possible. It begs the question: what is wrong with you? Also love the “lol just pay more money” take like the entire world isn’t nosediving into a recession. Stay classy. Anyways, absolutely ridiculous for jazwares to pump out TWO limited brodie figures so soon after his passing. Gross.

The Brodie looks pretty cool, but I already have the regular line version of him, so I'm good. Good luck to anybody trying to find this for not completely silly money post SDCC.

They managed to somehow put out a better ringside exclusive (ice cream bar punk) than the con exclusive which was already marred by an obnoxious RARITY!!111!~~~~ decision. Will future exclusives even be "better" if jeremy is gonna pull this crypto nft stunt on the aew line? like imagine if they do a supreme version of something crazy and it's just a physical con-exclusive..
