I’ve been listening to some old audio clips reviewing movies/tv shows & what they though was Over/Under rated. As a movie/tv “buff” it got me thinking & what others on here think? List what you think & if you want go into detail. (Add more whenever you can)
Overrated Movies:
The Godfather (There are 4 other mafia movies I prefer & think are better then The Godfather series)
Heat
No Country for Old Men

Donnie Darko
The Big Lebowski (It has funny lines but it’s not worth watching more then 2x)
Taken
The Batman
Underrated Movies:

Boardwalk Empire is up there with the best of HBO yet never gets it's respect or appreciation. If anything it feels it's completely forgotten.

In terms of overrated, Boondock Saints is the first to come to mind. That movie has always sucked ass.
The Godfather trilogy is overrated as all hell.
I almost put Goodfellas. Lol yeah...I'll go ahead and put Goodfellas. It's really not that good.
Heat is totally overrated.
Almost Famous is depressing and it sucks.
I don't care if this is an unpopular opinion, but...Marvel. I haven't seen a single movie that is better than Batman 89 or The Dark Knight. Maybe Logan or Days of Future Past...maybe....but nah. Still waiting on the perfect Punisher movie.
Donnie Darko sucks.
Fight Club sucks.

Overrated.
-Avengers: Infinity War. Decent at best.
-Avengers: Endgame. Literally just a repeat of the previous movie but with a bigger battle.
-The Dark Knight. Good, but not great.
-The Dark Knight Rises. Just flat out sucks.
-Dunkirk.
-Get Out.
-Gran Torino.
-Inception
-Superbad.
-The Batman. A 57 hour long snoozefest.
-Wall E.
-Seinfeld.
-The Office.

As I've gotten older I don't even see the point in trying to debate why something is or isn't "great" (which is entirely subjective anyways) and just lose interest in the conversation within two minutes. It's not like anything I say is going to change someone else's mind one way or the other, or vice versa. |

It’s ok to not like everything that everyone does, but just because you don’t like something everyone else does doesn’t mean it shouldn’t get the praise it does. I don’t know, I just hate the word. It’s the same when someone says like an athlete/wrestler they don’t like “sucks”. Just say “I’m not a fan.” You not liking something doesn’t mean it’s bad. |

Some underrated ones I've thought about:
Freaks (1932) needs to be seen by everyone at least once.
Manhunter > Silence of the Lambs
Sleepaway Camp II. Most people talk about the first because of the ending, and I get it...but the 2nd one is a banger.
Predator 2 is awesome.
Point Break rules. 🏄♂️
Batman Returns is so great. I love the gothic tone of the Burton films and people always give this movie crap for being too dark. I think more Batman movies need to be dark and not playing Nirvana.
Not saying all of these are 5 star classics...but they don't get praised enough.
