What are thoughts on the Owen Hart figures shown last weekend? For years and years Owen was pretty much a grail figure for many collectors. There was a lot of speculation from when Jazwares first announced the line, and then speculation turned into reality when they announced the Owen tourney. At the time there seemed to be a ton of hype, which quickly fizzled out once it became clear they weren't going to touch any of his most iconic looks.
But Owen wasn't even the most discussed figure last weekend, and came in 6th in the "what do you plan to buy" poll. So what are your thoughts on the Jazwares Owens? Is the Stampede attire a deal breaker for you? Are you holding out hoping they release some type of singlet? Will you be buying the figure for the heads to make customs?

I think people better take what they can get because there’s no guarantee they’re going to do the stuff people really want, the way they talk they’re not even going to try to make WWE/WCW attires of anybody

I think the Owen figures look good, and I plan to buy both versions.
They are kind of what I expected, but not exactly what I wanted. Like most, I'd like a more WWF styled look, but I doubt that will happen. I'm just happy to get any figures of Owen.

So that could rule out anything from WCW to WCCW to Smoky Mountain and just about every other territory. WWE owns pretty much every major tape library outside of Championship Wrestling from Florida and Memphis. So we may be looking at Mexico, Japan, ROH, and that's about it. Maybe they could work something out with Impact, but that partnership seems to be on pause, or at least majorly scaled back. The modern Arn figure makes me think they're going to alternate "flashback" luminaries with modern versions. It is what it is, but looking beyond Owen, that could mean no Natural Dustin Rhodes, no Arn/Tully, vintage Schiavone, etc.

It is what it is, but looking beyond Owen, that could mean no Natural Dustin Rhodes, no Arn/Tully, vintage Schiavone, etc. I think exclusivity will play a big part in a lot of the video library stuff as well. For example, Owen really only wore the pink & black/King of Harts/caution tape in WWE so even if they don't "own" it, they could challenge that an Owen in that attire is attempting to monetize their intellectual property. But someone like Sting wore surfer gear in several Japanese matches, so I could see that being something they're more likely attempt. Ditto for Dustin Rhodes in New Japan. As for excitement around the Owen figures, I definitely think there might be more if they were in WWF-esque gear, but in general I think stuff like the poll are just reactionary. We saw Owen enders, but they were basically what were expecting, so they didn't rile up the same excitement as protos or new announcements. Personally, I'll be getting one at least. leaning to the RSC for the accessories. Might end up getting both though. Truthfully will probably depend on timing of preorders and etc.

At least it fits the era of my mattel display (late 80s-early 90s). I'm not thrilled at the attire choices but it is what it is. I'm stoked to be getting any Owen.
I'll likely buy both.

I’ll get one of them and try and find high energy pants to put on him. A mania 8 Owen is better than no Owen.

It's a shame he has to be in an attire that isn't really remembered.
When people think of Owen it's his singlet look.

Its not what it is. Owen's first figure in 20+ years will sell no matter what attire, so the wise move is saving his more popular looks for later.

There would have been more conversation if we'd seen a prototype and not just a render. For good or bad.
Owen was my hero when I was a kid, so of course I'm going to buy this. Probably only one though, as the attire is a bit of a bummer. I'm not sure if I'll open it. I only open figures I'm 99% sure I'm keeping forever, and I still think they might do a singlet version.
I did buy a Wardlow on clearance, just in case I needed a black singlet for a custom. He's big, but hopefully not too big, if I decide to open my Owen.

I am planning on get at least one of the announced figures. I too was hopeful for something in his WWF attire but from a business and legal standpoint I understand why they went with his earlier look. Hopefully, we can get something that’s close to his classic WWF look at some point.

I don't see why they can't do him in a plain black singlet with a pink trim. I can't see there being any copyright issues with that.

Theyre starting out with the least desirable attires, which is smart. They'll eventually get to owen in the blue tights. Then eventually there'll be an owen with the singlet straps and long tights and then probably a fantasy attire to resemble something pink and black. Or something all blue to resemble the rocket, etc.

I think going in with unrealistic expectations is only going to hurt things.

I'm sure Jazwares will do one like that since AEW have been basically using the pink/black colour scheme on the graphics and lighting for the Owen tournament.

I’m pretty torn. It’s so cool to get Owen figures again but I don’t have any interest in the looks they’re going with so far.
I’d like to pass on the two announced but I may have to get one just because it’s been so long and I’m not sure if they’ll do a singlet look in black/pink.
