My Dog, Kato

Hey everyone,

I just needed somewhere to vent for a quick second. Last night we had to put our longtime dog down due to his old age. I'm not gonna lie, I'm hurting but I'm also happy he's not suffering any more. Last week he stopped eating and drinking, and wouldn't attempt to walk much if at all. He was giving us all the signals that he was ready. He was a solider through and through and we made sure that his final moments he was with his favorite people. We rescued him at 2 years old, and he stayed in the family for 16 years. That's more time than I could've ever asked for from him. You were the best Boy.

I am so sorry. I feel for you I really do. Over my lifetime similar has happened with multiple pets. It's losing your best friend, brother/sister, son/daughter. To not let him suffer you did the best for him, not to mention 16 years of happiness and being a part of your family. RIP Kato.

Sorry to hear that. I’ve lost 2 dogs in my lifetime, both of old age. It’s just to bad dogs don’t have a longer lifespan.

One of the hardest things I’ve had to do is watch my cat be put down so I know how you feel. 16 years is a pretty good run though.

My heart goes out to you. Animals are our family too, and I know they mean the world to me. I have had a couple die or put down over time and it still hurts many years later. Rest in peace to the little guy.

This day, as a pet owner, is the most devastating that I can ever imagine. I can't even handle giving pets up to a shelter, let alone this.

My Aunt had just lost her beloved her dog of almost 12 years.
My dogs are getting older and I know I will confront this one day, and I know it'll be really hard.
They're so special to a lot of us. Prior to going back to being Correction Officer, I was a Animal Services Officer for a Sherifs Department. Seeing dead dogs, and having to collect them off the road really bothered me. Even though my family says I was giving them some level of dignity. I'd see people also bring in pets that passed away in there sleep. It still bothered me but there was some level of beauty knowing that Dog or Cat passed peacefully and had many years with loving family.

They don't stay long with us because of who innocent they are it seems to the world. I am sure one day we will see our beloved pets along with our human family members. And somewhere out there your doggo is looking out for you. Prayers to you and your family.

Sorry for your loss. I know that little furries become a family for us and that it is very hard to let them go when the time comes.
I was worried to death when my cat didn't feel well last week and almost didn't move. He has a thick fur and I didn't notice a bastard tick sucking his blood. That was such a stress and from now I will always have different tick treatment from Pet express available at home and check my little friend regularly.
