Stockings and dressing elegantly in general. I don't see the appeal in people dressing up like they're getting ready to do a sports meet, half marathon, or a pilates session all day long. It's aesthetically ugly. Euros and Aussies tell me that they always know when Americans are around because they're the only people who wear athletic clothes casually. It's so flesh-driven. I don't think this is the norm everywhere but it is in an urban city. I only see ruptures from trend in upper class wine bars. I have to buy my clothes from AliExpress
Other than that, things have all gotten for the worse in every sense, while nothing was good starting out. The 90s was a really low point in culture that many see as a high point since it was a relatively period of peace. I take the 90s, and much that came with it, as a nihilistic sensibility amongst Gen X to nuke whatever remained of Cold War culture in the most mean-spirited way, reaching to the lowest depths for the lowest common denominator at the highest record speed possible. From there, you get Fear Factor and Will Smith movies
I also wish we'd go back to people carrying themselves with dignity. I'll see these academics making six figures listing off their "disability," their "first generation status," and their supposed poverty. Some have all of those in serious ways. A lot of people in those circles embellish it since there's a trend to act like poverty breeds virtue (it doesn't). It's all a product of striver culture. I find myself worried (up to a small point) that when Baby Boomers die off, I'm no longer going to have any allies. There's a real lack of grit, courage, and even basic honesty amongst younger people trying to make it. The system rewards that in brutal ways

Common sense might be a simple answer but it's true.

Common sense might be a simple answer but it's true. That's an interesting one. What about people today do you think lack in that department in ways that people didn't back then?

Comedy movies. I miss big comedy movies like Austin Powers, Step Brothers, Anchorman. Now comedies seem to be strictly a Netflix exclusive and they always feel the same and feel very cheap. More specifically I miss big characters comedies. I like Kevin Hart but he plays Kevin Hart in everything. I miss comedies that had a distinct lead "character" like Austin Powers, Anchorman, Borat, Zoolander, Dodgeball, Ace Ventura, Pink Panther.

Minding your own business. In the age of social media, comment sections and everyone having a camera on them, your business is all of a sudden everyone elses too.

Video Stores.
It was inevitable that they'd become obsolete with streaming becoming more advanced... But some of my favourite memories were going to video stores in the early 2000's, and picking out a Dragon Ball Z VHS for the week, and a few years later, Wrestling DVD's.
Just walking into that (i guess you could call it) signature Video Store smell, the worn out carpet from where everyone walked, seeing all the cover art of movies/shows that you'd never get, then seeing the section full of your favourites. The big selection's of old & new seasons/episodes/PPV's, and deciding which one to pick for the week, as well as looking at all the food while waiting at the checkout desk.
My favourite store was joined to a Pizza Hut back then, so some nights we'd go in & order, then spend about 15 minutes in the Video Store (10 of it me deciding what to choose), then pick up the Pizza on the way out.

Like a Cinnabun, Aunt Annie's or Subway.

Honestly, I don't understand why current fashion is supposed to make a man more female-like. I like how people dressed up in the 1950s. Our friends had such a wedding theme, and my wife and I looked for clothes in this style. I should say, women wore very beautiful dresses of a normal length at that time (my spouse looked amazing in her princessly dress). As for men's 1950s suits, they are still classics in the world of men's vintage fashion. I felt very comfortable wearing mine.
