I remember there was a point where I stopped seeing the WWF Hasbros at Toys R Us (maybe around series 4?) and for a while I would only see them at KayBee. Then around the Nailz series I use to only find them at a Mom & Pop shop in White Plains NY called “The Toy Chest”. So they definitely faded into obscurity, and I wonder how many people didn’t have specialty stores to find these. I was spoiled, my Mom was actually friends with a lady that worked in the Stamford Headquarters and she had a hookup to get the toys for her own son and she’d get my mom all the figs, totally free. The only ones I never had was the last set with 123, Adam Bomb etc because I was really into X-MEN & Power Rangers at that time and just wasn’t asking about the wrestlers I guess. Yeah, I was spending money on comic books buying multiple issues for $1.25-2.95/each. I wish I bought Hasbro WWF figures instead and sold them now as those comics I bought back then are damn near worthless and taking up space in my house.

All of the yellow cards were plentiful near me, including Nailz. I mainly remember seeing them at Hill's.
The only Hasbros I never found in stores were the Nasty Boys, Undertaker #2, Bam Bam Bigelow, Lex Luger, and the 123 Kid.
FWIW, I only ever saw the green card series at Hill's (and thankfully, I kept the ones I did find MOC).

The Nasty Boys really seem to be notoriously hard to find back in the day.
And I was still playing with my figures, and RIPPED open those green cards. It's one of the best Hasbro sets, in my opinion -- esp. Kidd, Borga, and Adam Bomb with an assist from Evil Crush!

I never saw any of the yellow card series anywhere in my area, which was disappointing because I always thought it was a solid set. The green card I never saw in stores either but was able to pick up from a local collector, and I still have them MOC. The Nasty Boys I was able to pick up at a merchandise booth at a WWF house show back in ‘93, haha.

The Nasty Boys I was able to pick up at a merchandise booth at a WWF house show back in ‘93, haha. Same. I never saw the yellow card figures in my area either. The first time I actually saw one in hand was when a friend or mine's dad ordered a few off eBay towards the end of the 90s. Was really disappointed in the HBK figure from that set, I really liked the prototype that was shown in the WWF magazine, I really wanted that one. I also never saw LOD or the Nasty Boys in stores either. I was able to purchase both teams years later off eBay, but, by then, I had stopped playing with toys - just got them because I always wanted them and put them with the other figures. I also never saw the green series set until years later when I saw them on eBay, at first I thought they were knock-offs or custom made figures. Also, for some reason Series 3 was hard to find, other than the main guys (Hogan, Savage, Natural Disasters, Boss Man), I only saw the others a couple of times in stores. Only saw S3 Warrior once but picked up the Texas Tornado figure instead thinking I would see Warrior again - but I never did. I guess distribution problems were always a thing...

My parents contacted Hasbro directly to order a Nasty Boys set for me for Christmas back when they were new. I wish I still had the Hasbro envelope they came in.

The only time I ever saw a yellow card in stores was Shawn Michaels at KB. God I miss that store. I bought Nailz from Edward Bay back in the day. Awesome figure.

I posted a video of a Kaybee store down below in this thread -- brought back so many amazing memories.

I watched it. Thanks for sharing that. I have great memories of that place. I got a Sega Cd and some games there in the mid 90’s. I was a big Sega fan, but I legit never heard of the Sega Cd until we saw it there that night. Oh the days before the internet… it made it so much better when you would go to the store and be stunned when you saw things. I vividly remember going to a Walgreens and seeing the Jimmy Snuka hasbro and my mind being blown - I had no idea that figure existed until that moment. Another great thing about going to kaybee was that in the mall right next door was a pet shop, so we would go look at the puppies in the window. Those were the days.

Yes -- the surprise of being a collector was a total different experience, especially as a kid. I'm glad I didn't have the Internet until I was older to be honest

Does anyone on the east coast remember a card show dealer named "Russ Zink" who used to sell Hasbros? He was in his 50s and had white hair/white beard. In the mid 1990s when I was trying to get carded Hasbros I would go to him every show. It stopped when he wanted $65 for a carded 123 Kid (1996) and my parents who never agreed on anything were pretty pissed it was that expensive. I could have gotten two or three figures for the same price. I wound up selling the Kid for $100 on ebay around 2012 so after fees probably broken even or made a little. I'm sure it's worth even more now. I looked up Russ recently and he passed a few years ago.

Like so many others, I NEVER saw the Nasty Boys at retail. The only place I remember seeing the Nasty Boys and LOD as a kid was at the Toy Liquidators clearance chain. I didn't buy them back then. The amount of Rockers and Bushwhackers clogging the pegs must've really killed the distro for Nastys/LOD.

I also could NEVER find the Nasty Boys -- they were the only figures I had to buy at a re-seller store. I still remember -- my dad took me, it was over an hour from our house. But I was SOOO happy to have them. The Nastys are really amazing figures. And exactly Rasslin.Bros -- the distro of Series 1 killed distro of Series 2.

For me it was Kamala, not Nailz who vanished from the pegs, before eventually finding him at Kay-Bee. I found series 3, 5,6 blue cards at TRU, Yellow Cards at TRU, Red Cards were at Harts (a local department store), Purple at TRU, Dark Blue at Harts, never found Green in a store. Never found in store: Green Cards, Nasty Boys, Koko B. Ware, Warrior 3, Honky Tonk Man, Dusty Rhodes, Andre the Giant, Rick Rude.

I remember not knowing the cards were changing colors and being floored by that. The anticipation of the next waves, and finally finding them. I was fortunate to find the colors up until green, it sounds like some people struggled by that point.

I was both lucky and unlucky when I first started collecting. I wasn’t allowed to watch wrestling as a small child so I was already 11 in 1994 when I got my first Hasbro, so definitely behind. However, my mom worked at KB toys in our local mall from 1993-1995. So I had about a full year of literally getting to open dozens of cases of the 3 for 10 Hasbros that came in. I opened 3-4 yellow card cases and Nailz was the only one not included so I imagine he was pulled from all late distributions and was only made the first run. I remember thinking as a kid it was because Owen,Crush,Razor, and Shawn were all still in the WWF and Kamala was in WCW.

LOD were plentiful near me, even past the end of the Hasbro line - but only on foreign cards in KB Toys dump bins. For some reason, there was an influx of foreign carded Hasbro figures in those 3 for $10 bins around the mid-'90s. The Rockers stuck around at Hill's up until around the time the chain closed.

Yes!! The cards changing color and not knowing what figures would come out next (except for the commercials and some magazine ads) truly made this a special line to collect. It can never be replicated...
