The silence from Steve here is deafening… those going up were a crapshoot and nothing on the legends yet either 🙄 I'm a big believer that it should not be this difficult to obtain mass produced action figures. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that there will probably be plenty available in the coming days/weeks. But in general I find myself putting money into other hobbies where obtaining the product I want (aka making the company money) doesn't require driving all over the place, stalking Brickseek, or refreshing a webpage frantically.

Hogan isn’t a must have for me but if I can grab one and through a Survivor Series head on it I wouldn’t be mad about it. Sucks for those that didn’t get it. Hope you get another chance.

In no way is this Hogan "Ultimate" as it features all old and reused parts, most troubling the stubble from Hollywood and a scan that is close to 10 years old. This line will die if they keep doing stuff like this Hogan figure and the Taker revealed today. The fact that they now have a dedicated "Legends" Ultimate line speaks to how much they rely on our loyalty to nostalgia, but it should not warrant them phoning in both the design and availability of their products.

I completely understand the business/cost rationale behind re-using parts in general. However, I do think Mattel are very close to the line now, if not over it. I feel like they’re taking the p*ss out of collectors with premium prices or even normal elite prices products with 90% or more re-used parts. This combined with the lack of FTITL is really starting to p*ss me off and I’m sure I’m not alone. They need to re-address the balance of re-used with new.

I undertand reusing parts in Basics/Elites, and even most parts in Ultimates, except for the face as it very much defines a figure's look. To call it "Ultimate" and then re-use old, inaccurate parts is just...not "ultimate" lol. I agree the lack of FTITLs was a bit disappointing but I feel like some/most of that is out of Mattel's hands, plus they need to spread out the few they have a bit.

How much the FTITL stuff is out of mattels hands I’m not sure, Steve certainly seems really genuine in his desire and attempt to get more new faces for us. However, if that is the case, it’s even more important they give us fresh product of existing talent, not just re-use and repaints of stuff we already have. This year us collectors will be spending hundreds each on the same old stuff passed off as new…it’s bull. Smart arses will say ‘you don’t HAVE to buy them’ which is of course true but in my opinion, if you’re an out and out collector it’s very hard to pass on a look or figure you ‘need’ as opposed to really want. Feels like Mattel know this and are taking advantage a bit.

Feels like Mattel know this and are taking advantage a bit. I know what you're saying. I feel like all of my hobbies are devolving into companies relying on the strength of their brand rather than the merit of their current product. WWE overall is a good example. But I was thinking of Mortal Kombat 11, where they take advantage of consumer loyalty and crap out a crummy product with zero communication, and honestly lie about the support/content that would be delivered. Unfortunately highly nostalgic properties can get away with this...

I mean, I could be way off here.....
But I thought the idea of "pre-orders" was so that companies could gauge how much of a product they needed to make to meet the customer demand?
Putting up "preorders"..... then running out of product "selling out" in 6 minutes kind of seems - - - stupid?

F it. I like the features of the ultimates. The butterfly joints. But after thinking about it. The heads with the beards are bad. I decided to just get the new survivor series hogan. Since it’s been updated with the double jointed arms. Will look better displayed with the hogan 86 and winged eagle belts anyway.

Preorders are a chance to purchase product before they are received. The numbers are already ordered and considering that we have seen fully packaged images, they are probably already on a boat heading to the US. This is a chance to get your orders in before they are on sale. That said, Amazon almost definitely have not sold out of these. The may have sold out of their preorders, but they certainly have some left to go on sale when they get the stock in. Being able to preorder should mean that you should not have to worry about missing this when they get their stock in and it does become more of a free for all to order. Question for those that were able to order - were there any limits? Meaning could someone have ordered 5,000 of these if they wanted to?
