Major Wrestling Figure Podcast and AEW chases.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to raise this as a topic because it was raised on social media for a number of months before all information stopped and with little to no clarity.

To give it context I don’t listen to the pod but from what I remember the guys were being “gifted” AEW chases, firstly it was highlighted as items provided by business partners and then this was apparently later clarified as gifts from friends. They announced getting series 1 and 2 chases (Christmas and 2 year anniversary), and it’s not just the hosts I believe the producer also has a chase, but since series 2 there has been no further information if this trend continued by all who were involved. I believe they clam transparency but this is a no go area following an unbelievable amount of backlash across the board. Not that it’s a big deal but I found myself wondering what happened going forward. I do believe this was a big reason for the numbers being increased going forward.

I’ve ignored the Major Brothers “controversy” on here from the jump but yeah, it seems this is a lot of users on here first brush with anyone with a real social media presence that promote a specific product.

This is an extremely common practice to send first-to-market merch or exclusive products to YouTubers/Instagramers/Tiktokers/etc who review/promote that product and draw water. Same reason why boxers shorts or NASCAR drivers suits are covered in sponsor logos.

Sometimes the simplest explanation is the truth. They launched S1/2 with limited interest from Walmart and online through RSC. You now have the line available through Amazon, Target, Gamestop, and additional online stores. Production goes up, and so do the chases. But it takes a few series to adjust plans and back end support in manufacturing/logistics.

It seems a lot more likely to me that the line exceeding expectations selling well and the very brisk large secondary market for the chases had more to do with the # going up than people being mad that the MWFP hosts may or may not have gotten free figures did.

All very cool points guys, I understand the need to “review” mainline releases as it’s creates a somewhat buzz and people can see how figures look before buying, that I get, but I did not agree with them getting the chases as I seen enough strong points that I was in agreement with regarding this, as it went against the whole concept of the chases from the onset as these where sent directly to them, when this was challenged I believe the pod boasted about the chases with placing salt by a chase and accusing others of being “salty and hating”. I have come to understand the privilege life of an influencer but I was just curious to know how it all panned out and if they received future chases, if they have they have been told to keep this extremely quite. I would also have to say this incident was the whole reason for the chase numbers being raised because the backlash was a very reall thing, even collectors walked away from the AEW line. But anyway thanks for the insight guys it’s much appreciated! 👍
