If I had to guess, it's probably because while we definitely notice the differences, the Montreal Bret in all-black wouldn't be all that different than the Canadian Stampede DM and the WM12 basic. Also, and this might be the bigger one, Mattel seems to gravitate to Bret attires that with heavy doses of pink (outside of the blue HF one). So, the lack of pink + similarities to previously released attires + the relative infrequency of Bret elites might be why the Montreal gear hasn't been touched yet.

Where’s a Bret sculpt that looks like him?

Where’s a Bret sculpt that looks like him? This is my line of thinking. The only one that's even come close was the older Bret from the Summerslam 2010 set.

I think we need both another elite all black and all pink Bret (two figures) given how long it has been since those came out and since they are pretty rare these days.

I don’t think Bret would want a figure released from this match. In a way it would seem like Mattel is celebrating what happened. Fair point actually. For us as fans enough time may have passed where we look back it the screwjob and just go "oh whatever". But for Bret, leaving the WWE for WCW sent his career on a downward spiral, and he subsequently had a ton of terrible things happen including his stroke and losing some family members. I'm sure Bret doesn't look back at that event fondly. Not to say the Montreal screwjob was the catalyst for all of those hardships, but you gotta think the whole thing affected him deeper than we know.

Jakks did a Montreal Bret in a 2 pack with Shawn during the period where they still hated each other. He doesn’t care as long as the royalty check clears

Yeah, I saw his interview on the Broken Skull Sessions and it was obvious that he still has strong negative feelings about the whole thing. Which is very understandable. Apparently he’s okay with figures being made from the match though. As others have said, Jakks made one.

I mean, if Mattel decided to make one, I don’t think he’d have a say in it would he? Or would part of WWE approving it involving consulting him?

Bret Hart is my favorite wrestler and I'll buy any figure. But honestly, I think it's time we give someone like El Dandy a chance. Could be a phenomenal figure.

I don't have a Bret Hart on display (I have the elite Hart Foundation put away) as I'm holding out for Survivor Series 1995 in all pink. I've done this before waiting on a WCW Jericho and yeah I don't own a single Jericho elite because of it. But if they did MSJ Bret Hart I'd probably buy it as a placeholder.

Where’s a Bret sculpt that looks like him? The Ultimate figure. The straight-faced and smirking one both do, but you've gotta really take care of those hair clumps in front to even notice. Apart from that, Jakks CS series 1 is the best we've gotten, which is frustrating.

Basic 97 is actually my favorite Bret headscan.

As cool as it'd be, I would much rather see a Survivor Series 1996 Bret from his match with Austin. That attire has NEVER been made in figure form that I'm aware of. It'd be a great Ultimate. Mania 13 would be a close second for me. Yeah! I'm also holding out for a Elite Survivor Series 96 Bret. Love that Orange trim, especially since he's never done it before or after.

Well, we already got the HBK so I doubt we'd get him again, but this would be a great excuse to release a suited late-90's Vince figure. I'm not sure Bret would be too happy about it, but if they did make an Elite 2-Pack of this, i'd imagine it'd sell like crazy.
Probably be the only Bret figure I'd buy.

Honestly I want every Bret attire we can get from 93-97. If they do Montreal it should be an Ultimate to go with the Shawn.

That will never happen. Unless WWE reconciles with him

In my opinion there has only been one figure that has ever captured Bret’s likeness, and that was the Deluxe classic. The expression was ghastly, but it was the only head that actually looked like him. He’s one of those guys like Savage (minus E23) and (up til recently) Edge who they just can’t seem to be able to capture in figure form. The most recent Edge heads (minus the mid-spear) rectified that, so hopefully they can do it with Bret as well.

as long as it's not a Survivor Series 93 attire, I have no complaints

Does anyone else think that's it's really odd that we haven't had a Montreal Scewjob Bret yet? I know the Defining Moments figures was close but surely after 10 years, it's time right? It's still one of the most talked about moments in WWE history. Maybe it'll be the next Bret Ultimate? It would be a good candidate for sure. Yeah I wouldn't mind an elite two-pack in this style with fresh new heads.

I feel like Mattel hasn’t really nailed a Bret figure yet. They have been some nice ones but I think they could have done more and done some better. And I’m not even a Bret fan at all
