With everything that’s oblivious going on stores stocking figures is the last thing to do. So online ordering it is, but I’ve set my price as to how much. Luckily for me I only want a few figures. 1 happens to be a crappy store exclusive (which I’ve had good luck with) but haven’t found yet.

It hasn’t for me yet, totally, but I feel it coming... past few months I’ve been on the hunt almost every weekend. Going 30miles or more to the two or three biggest cities close to me, Two targets in one city, And A Walmart...Not 🤬, Next city One Target, One Walmart...Not 🤬! Farthest city 30+ Miles away One Target, One Walmart...Not 🤬! Some with shelves almost completely bare or might have 3 Bobby Heenan’s in the weasel suit.... Not to mention my local Walmart 🤦♂️ which is about 12miles away! They’ve had the same 3 lonely basics on the shelf for months! Never stops me from looking once or more a week when I’m in there for something though. I’ve gotten fairly lucky on great finds in the past. Last weekend at my last stop at a Jackson Target I found an Ultimate Edition Hollywood which I already ordered one from Ringside months ago but decided to get it for my Loose Collection.
I only collect Classic WWF/WCW Legend figures but have yet to find any of the Royal Rumble set with Warrior and Austin and never found the Decade Of Domination Kane(Walmart exclusive) which is another pain! Obtaining Store exclusives seem to be a real struggle around my area. Target and Walmart are the only places to look for figures now to my knowledge and the ones around me seem to never have much of anything anymore.

Now a days you almost have to depend on ringside sales and Amazon to get figures for retail because stores are simply not stocking product and if they do it’s one case that’s usually gone except an occasional double pack figure or aj styles/Finn balor in under a day.

100% -- these distribution issues are going to hurt toy sales. Almost all figures I have bought in the last few years except those I was dying to have (retros) were impulse purchases made in person.
I barely see anything in person -- so I've saved hundreds of dollars. Toy companies have lost those sales though...

The thrill still continues for me. Maybe one day it won't but I'm enjoying the line just as much as I always have. Same

I don't think the thrill is gone for me, but it's not as thrilling as it was. Part of the fun or enjoyment in collecting was going to a store, seeing figures on the rack, and taking them home with you. That just doesn't happen very much now. Combine resellers and Toys R Us closing, and it's less product for more buyers. As a recent example, being completely unable to find the new Royal Rumble Elite Ultimate Warrior outside of eBay for three times retail is a bummer. Having to preorder or order online is one thing, because at least you get the figure, but flat-out being unable to get a figure is hard to take. I mean, it shouldn't be that difficult, right? Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't feel like it used to take going every day, Monday through Friday, week after week, to Walmart and Target to find what you want. Now that seems to me to be what it takes. And that's still not working for me and that RR Warrior. Man I couldn't have said it better myself. I have twelve targets within reasonable driving distance. In the last three weeks or so I have visited six of them often a few times a week and called others. In one occasion I got a back in stock email and called right away. They said they see they see they received it but couldn't locate the box. They ended up selling that night and I never saw it. Twelve targets. Someone like me actively trying to purchase one toy over three weeks and no luck? Thats not right. I cant set up a cot at a target until the inventory arrives and someone stocks the shelf at a random time. I cant keep calling and asking employees. Either these aren't made in high enough quantity for demand or they should be available to purchase preorder or on rsc. Steamboat fan takeover also being sketchy to find with no good explanation or announcement from mattel regarding amazon. Walmart canceling and mismanaging preorders for decade of domination and motwu. It all sucks and it makes collecting a nightmare. Not fun. I have a full time job and a family and I cant stalk stores for these elusive figures. Somethings gotta give or it will lose a ton of true blue collectors. I'm with you on all fronts. Steamboat is a good example, too. I know it's new and at least not exclusive to Target, but it has 'nightmare fig' written all over it. I work and have a family, too, so I'm in the same boat. I go to Target on my lunch break or early Saturday morning, and every trip (15 or 20 the last few weeks) was wasted. It makes me feel foolish even saying it. I swear I'm not obsessed. haha

Yeah nothing will beat walking into the store not knowing what’s going to be on the shelves and then going through all the figures to see if your favourite wrestler is there. That excitement was always something else.

I swear I'm not obsessed. haha I didn't mind the hunt when "hunt" meant maybe needing to check 3-4 stores to find the figure you wanted. I remember hunting for the HOF Lawler, who was 1 per case, and the rush when I finally found him. But there were figures on the pegs - just no Lawler at the first few stores. It was a safe bet that I'd find him sooner than later, and I did. I've been checking my stores daily for a couple of weeks, and the only signs of life has been a single RR Umaga. It's exhausting, and waste of time and gas. I did the same dance hoping to find the L8 shipper and a chase Jake before my wife convinced me to just buy the damn thing on ebay and pay the markup. But if that's the path forward, I'll spend my money elsewhere.

I can tell you this, I live in central Maryland and I can't remember the last time I saw WWE figures on the shelves at Wal-Mart or target, except maybe they get 1 case sporadically here and there. Shelves have been empty for a while. Last time I saw a good bit of figs on the shelf were the summerslam 2020 series with viscera, aj and Liz,and the Aj's and Liz figs are shelf warmers. Frustrating to keep on going in to these stores and seeing nothing but peg board.

The thrill ain't gone but the light is fading.
Whomever said to just pay the extra $5-10 a figure to Ringside if you want a guaranteed figure. It makes sense in the end for me. But that doesn't work for every figure.
An example, I'd like to really own that new RR Ultimate Warrior but look at Ebay -- not one under $60. I'm doubting it will go down in price either.
And you have the folks that take the picture of the figure in their car right after they bought it, lol. It's annoying, to say the least.

Nah, it's still fun AF. I know I'm not gonna get every figure. I manage to get most of what I want. If I don't, it's NBD.

Pre-order everything that isn't an exclusive on Ringside. I get all of the stuff before everyone else on my front steps and it always ends up around $30 apiece. I've never had to pay a crazy amount for a current figure thanks to RSC. $30 is still more than we’d pay at Walmart IF they would ever actually stock anything....all I ever see are empty pegs for months now & its very annoying

I love owning figures but I’ve hated pursuing them for a long while. It’s why I’ve bought so much Super7 over the last two years. I want to be able to just order what I want and when it shows up, great. This last year is also the most I’ve ever bought from Big Bad.
The AEW stuff has really stressed me out. Like almost GI Joe Classifieds level stress. I love the figures but the obligation to order them the second they’re up on Ringside or pay $40+ per figure on eBay is pretty horsesh*t.
The thrill has been gone with the main WWE Elite line for awhile now. I don’t remember the last time I didn’t have a “meh” reaction to their reveals. Their lack of new faces broke me awhile ago. The Ultimates line is really the only thing I’ve gotten excited about. Even then, all of these fan vote attires are wiggity wiggity wiggity whack. I love the MOTU line, but that feels like a minority opinion, at least a niche one.
I love to add to my display and fill out my collection of things I love, but WWE ain’t it right now. My fondest memories of this line probably all pre-date getting Razor, Sting, and Hogan DMs that one year at SDCC.
Also, losing a place like ToysRus in the world, leaving us squashed between Target and Walmart’s absolute bullsh*t, has been truly awful.

Everything you've listed has always been a problem for the past couple of years. I'd say the pandemic was the final straw that made collecting much more difficult and expensive.

Being unhappy about not being able to obtain figures or paying too much for figures is a reasonable complain.
BUT allowing complaining online by people you don't even know to drive you away from doing something you supposedly love? I could never allow my fellow human beings to dictate what I do, don't do, like, don't like, collect, don't collect, etc.

These are wrestling figures. It's the most passive of my hobbies.

I was thinking the same thing the other day. I’m not one who complains about part choices or stuff like that. I just found myself being more into other lines lately including a lot of vintage stuff like MOTU and GI Joe. I still collect and still consistently buy but it’s more online lately. I’ve missed out on a few lately that I just never saw. DOD Mark Henry for one or anything with an AEW logo. I’m never going to stop collecting but it’s definitely gotten harder lately. I also liked it when it was just us hardcore collectors not a bunch of scalpers stalking stores to make a profit.
