Anyone know wnt the Papa Shango gimmick got so much hate? I thought it was pretty cool It all stems from the feud with Warrior Shango>all the rest of Charles Wright's gimmicks |

Anyone know wnt the Papa Shango gimmick got so much hate? I thought it was pretty cool I liked it too. I guess it’s the wrestling purists who hated and people who drink the Meltzer Kool Aid. |

I thought I was the only one that liked Isaac Yankem! Glen Jacobs himself hated it. I wonder if he's warmed up to the gimmick at all over the last few years. I think without a gimmick like Yankem or fake Diesel it wouldn't have shown WWF that this guy is a team player and will do any gimmick we ask of him. He has had a pretty amazing life over the last 23 years thanks to being Kane but if he hadn't been the other two gimmicks I can't see them making him Kane. Also despite bad gimmicks Glenn Jacobs is obviously very talented and deserves credit for doing what he did with the first two gimmicks and especially Kane. Try putting any number of guys in the Kane gimmick and it may have failed. How about Brian Adams, Bryan Clark or Brian Harris? All relatively tall guys but just awful in the ring. I also liked Papa Shango. It's a shame he didn't get a bigger main event push. If Kamala hadn't come back when he did I can see him getting an upper card spot against Undertaker. Also if Flair had been able to get over more in WWF then Warrior wouldn't have been put in a Summerslam match with Macho and maybe Warrior and Shango would have gone at summer or slam. |

Isaac Yankem was the pits....Jacobs really served his time with sh*t gimmicks. Kane was Jacobs absolute last chance...only got it as a favor to UT. Look what he done with it...unreal.

I know what you're saying about bad gimmicks, but I think (especially in the 90's) they had a lot of talent. So much that they were trying to find roles that stuck and gimmicks that stuck. A lot of guys, Shango too, go through these weird gimmicks before they find the ones that ultimately make them a success but have the talent to stick around. |

I think even Bret Hart was even a fan of the gimmick Bret Hart likes evil Doink too, but that’s not widely considered bad. It was the face turn that killed it for people. I still liked him as face, but heel was way better. |
