If they do return then it seems pretty clear that it will have to be through the Walmart/Target avenue that killed the line in the first place since WWE Mattel are clearly not going to launch any sort of crowd-funding venture for anything never mind the Retros, and Ringside clearly can’t take them on as an exclusive line (not a criticism; Ringside’s existence has brought us all great exclusives over the years and they can’t do everything themselves), so that leaves only the brick and mortar route, and all the endless joy that that brings us collectors.
With that in mind modern-day guys are basically unavoidable, but we decrepit middle-aged immature overgrown children (a/k/a “collectors“) all want legends (and non-legends) from the olden days of yore (around 1995-ish).
So my list:
-Bob Backland: a face Bob in red would be welcome, but the heel version in dark blue is the essential one needed here.
-British Bulldog: many, many different looks needed here, but for me the first one should be the biker shorts unbraided long-hair Davey, with an Allied Powers one to follow in the same set as:
-Lex Luger: obviously the face US Lex, though eventually we need some WCW representation as well.
-Jerry Lawler: first the blue mullet King of the mid-90s like the new Elite, with Raw commentator and Attitude in-ring red and black to follow. Maybe classic Memphis King would be cool?
-Jim Neidhart: Hart Foundation tag-team is obvious, with a matching Bret if possible but if we’re limited in numbers then make him to match the series 4 Hasbro. Then we’d need a mid-90s heel Anvil before a ‘97 Hart Foundation (with jacket) to match the other three they can make. Hell, lets have Who? as well
-Macho Man: long-tights Macho King as mentioned before - WM7 I’d suggest, though also a Mega Powers one with a matching Hogan. Always liked the WM8 black and gold as well if they can fit in a few more, as well as a Ultimate Maniacs Randy to go with a matching singlet Warrior.
-Mega Maniacs Brutus: one of the missing Hasbros
-Tugboat: see above.
-HBK: punch action like the prototype Hasbro, in the Survivor Series ‘92 red and white reverse of the Hasbro release so it’s not a complete retread. After that we’ve got about half-a-dozen others to get to before we can start to forgive the HBK Retro we actually got.
-Mabel: Preferably with Mo, but if he’s not available then King Mabel would be great.
-Diesel: Big Daddy Cool, longer hair, silver top, preferably one that looks like Kevin Nash.
-Sean Waltman: 1-2-3 Kid in the white and black, red or purple gears? Syxx? X-Pac debut in-ring red? I’ll take them all please.
-Big John Studd: should be a cool figure.
-Big Show: lots of options here, early Attitude Era probably, though really The Giant should be first as I have a thing for releasing figures in chronological order - I’m lots of fun at parties.
-Booker T: unless they can fit in Stevie Ray as well then go to the initial singles run WCW, white flame tights maybe?
-Vader: 1996 WWF classic gear.
-Hollywood Hogan: Hasbro didn’t leave much missing from the Golden Era, so other than Mega Powers then the next obvious one is a classic nWo representation, then maybe a Wolfpac or WWE nWo Hogan before venturing onto Hulk Still Rules and guest host-era Hogan.
-Bret Hart: Hart Foundation to match the above Anvil (lets say 1990), WM9 all pink, Survivor Series ‘96 orange-trim pink and black, Hart Foundation ‘97 all-black (with jacket - has to be with the jacket), WCW older Bret, and finally 2010 return jorts Bret. I like Bret
Should also finally bring women into the line - with Sensational Sherri and Miss Elizabeth leading the way. And managers! We need managers.
You guys bored yet?
