Well I guess Hollywood wants to crap on another classic. Kevin Hart and Will Smith are going to star in a remake of the classic. I'm a fan of both Smith and Hart, but this is going to suck. Part of what made the original work, was the great chemistry between Steve Martin and John Candy. Candy's portrayal of the lovable goof is also a big part in it. I just never get the thought behind, lets take this movie that's a classic, and 'modernize it,' just to try and suck more money out of it. I mean hell, you can take the concept of a movie, and make a new one, without 'remaking it.' Hell, you had Due Date with Robert Downey Jr and Zach Galifianakis, where you have the concept of the two opposite personalities forced to work together to get to their destination.

That is one of my favorite movies of all time. That ending puts me to tears no matter how many times I see it. No one can have the magic that Steve Martin and John Candy had. No one can re-write and direct that same magic... and you cannot bring back the 80s.

What is the point?! I understand remaking action films but this has no need for a remake

I've always felt, that anyone that wants to saw John Candy was just a comedian, show them that scene in the train station. Just the realness that he is able to express in that scene is amazing.

Why remake something that is already perfect?

Ridiculous. If it HAS to be remade, get rid of Will Smith, he hasn't been good in anything in a long ass time, put The Rock in his place. But still, ing ridiculous.

This is something that would be modernized when they remake it. Today's smartphones would actually help avoid the disasters they faced trying to get home. It's like remaking Home Alone. That absolutely would not work today? Why because people have alarm systems and security cameras and plus Smartphones so they would be able to keep in touch with their child they left behind. Another movie you cannot remake today is Airplane!. A remake would never top the original. Heck the sequel to Airplane! never topped the original. I have a feeling that this remake will face the same backlash as the Ghostbusters reboot in 2014.

Steve Martin scene with the rental dropping the most f-bombs in a movie scene was classic. He was great went from borderline crazy, to calm compassionate in the movie. The chemistry that Candy and Martin was great. They need to leave classics alone. Will Smith made a mockery of the Karate Kid and now sadly this.

No...Just no.They could never recreate the magic John Candy,Steve Martin along with John Hughes did back in 87. 33 years later and this scene is still powerful as hell. RIP John Candy

No...Just no.They could never recreate the magic John Candy,Steve Martin along with John Hughes did back in 87. 33 years later and this scene is still powerful as hell. RIP John Candy That's it right there. He finally lowers the walls, of his humor and upbeat personality, and reveals, he's been alone and on the road for 8 years. Candy makes you feel the pain in Del's soul with how he delivers it. The great thing about that scene too, is Martin on the train, reliving the memories of their journey, and actually seeing the humor in it, and then it hits him, he realizes the truth about Del, and he has to go back. A movie that shows when you have a good script with the right people in the roles, then you have cinema magic, and that's what you had here.

Spoiler Alert!! It will be sh*t just like the Ghostbusters remake & 90% of all remakes & sequels to 80s movies. I've seen bits and pieces of that All Female Ghostbusters remake and all I could say about it that it was horrid. Paul Feig is lucky he still can get directing gigs since the Ghostbusters Remake. The only good thing about the Remake was the Ecto-1. It wasn't as cool and Iconic as the original 1959 Cadillac Miller Meteor ambulance. In fact I bought the Hot Wheels version of the reboot Ecto-1. Other than that the Reboot shouldn't have been made at all.

I love this movie with all my heart. It brings back so many fun memories watching with my dad and late older brother around the holidays. I am really doubting of this, but I am willing to give it chance by seeing it. I like the actors and the hope of new social dynamic based in current times. But, that's me being hopeful. We'll see.
