Can we all lobby Taz's social media outlets to persuade him to licence the FTW belt for the brian cage figure. I feel this is the only way we will ever get a proper one made. I'm sure there could be a partial royalty thing worked out probably how TNT has with AEW since their logo will be on the figure belt.
Would be cool to display with the brian cage figure or even taz's jakks figures

Feel like that would be a pretty easy deal to work out. Thing is, I think something like that would have to be like a Ringside Exclusive? Just because the connotation doesn't seem mainstream retail friendly. I could be wrong though. I haven't worked in the market in forever.

Yea I could see something like that, maybe a "Team Taz" ringside exclusive 2 pack with the belt?

Most people nowadays read FTW as For The Win, so even though that’s not what I means, I don’t think it matters. I heard (no idea if true or not) that there are rights issues with WWE in licensing the belt, so that could be an issue, but hopefully we see it in some form.

I heard (no idea if true or not) that there are rights issues with WWE in licensing the belt, so that could be an issue, but hopefully we see it in some form. The classic WWE and WCW belt designs are owned by the belt designer, in most cases Reggie Parks, whose business was bought up by Dave Millican. Belt makers make most of their money from selling replicas of the designs to collectors. So there was bad blood when WWE wanted to own the designs, and started using another belt maker. They've since worked things out as far as I know. So with the FTW belt, it all depends on who owns the rights. According to Wiki, Taz owns the designs and rights to the belt. So if that's the case, it should be pretty easy to work out some licensing arrangement. It's possible something is already in place through AEW. If the belt maker still has the rights, they would need to license the rights, but doesn't mean it couldn't happen.

I just did a quick google search to see which one was being used in AEW and it's the one Taz owns the rights for. Back in the day there was a belt maker that used to make replicas of the FTW title and any time someone ordered it, he would have to go to Taz to sign off on it. I'm sure Taz would do business.

He seems pretty proud of his FTW brand stuff and "team taz" I see no reason why he would say no to a figure belt of it as long as he got his proper royalties which shouldn't be an issue.

WWE don’t own any aspect of the belt which is how it can be on AEW in the first place. If they did they would’ve sent their team of no fun lawyers after AEW the minute it showed up on TV but they didn’t.

Unless there's some major hurdle, I'd imagine we'll see the FTW belt at some point. Belts sell figures, and AEW only has a few titles.
Now if we want to talk about a really crazy idea, somebody tell Jeremy to find a way to make Thunder Rosa with the NWA belt happen.

You would actually be surprised because there are differences when it comes to a physical object like the belt itself and being able to license it for merchandise use (a good example would be the NWA TV title which uses logos they can not merchandise, but displaying on the belt is fine. Very different situation from this, but you get the idea). Now, it may not be WWE where the issues lie (the belt maker would actually be more likely, even WWE has run into issues with that before), I’m just going off initial reports when the belt debuted. There could very well be no issues at all and people were just conjecturing because of how tightly WWE holds on to things. Not to mention there is some precedent for AEW jumping the gun on things like that (see Bash at the Beach).

If he’s serious about a classic/legends line, working out something with the NWA, even if just to add belts to figures, makes a TON of sense to me. The relationship between AEW and NWA could help a lot in that regard. Not saying we will see Thunder Rosa with the belt (which would be great), but I could see an NWA presence down the road.

I’m very familiar with the belt maker needing to approve it (we had to bitch at Bill for nearly a decade to start getting WCW belts), I was simply talking about the WWE part. They would’ve gotten the belt off TV if they could justify it with their ownership of ECW. It’s been on TV for three months so that says to me they don’t have sort of claim. Jeremy went out of his way to get the licenses for Jericho’s tattoos so I imagine he’s already got the FTW and TNT belts licensed

Cody had done the trademark filing for bash at the beach, along with some other defunct WCW things that wwe let slip. He then presumably traded these trademarks to them in exchange for being able to be Cody Rhodes, which is why they changed to beach break this year.

You could just buy it from forbiddenfigurines.com as it looks a million times better than anything Jazwares would put out. Holy $#!+. I've never heard of this before. I'm about to lose my mind on my money and lose my money on my mind. I'm a Championship Title Belt Collector. I find it extremely interesting that every item on there is something I don't have. Thank you!!

I would love to see this, and I'm pretty certain Jazwares would be down for it. Again, they did make the BMF belt, sooo...
Although, funny story. When "For The Win" started becoming popular years ago, I had an extremely pious friend who signed off on a cheerful Messenger post with "FTW". I just about choked on my mountain dew. She explained it to me and questioned what *I* thought it meant. And, of course, like a bad person, I told her. OOPS.
To this day I still can't use those initials in the way that the younger generation does. Never have, never will. They'll always belong to Taz for me.
