The extra set of hands for Fenix are basically just for the series 2 figure. He didn’t have tape on his hands at DoN 2019.

Thanks for the great reviews ckhybrid. Looks like it’s just Shida and Hager from this set for me. The other repaints are an easy pass, which makes me wonder if this will be the first series to warm shelves in this line. Jericho always seems to sell, but the others are not a guarantee.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Jeremy/Magic/Jazwares are getting LAZY and putting out really below-average product. They need a wake up call. Gems like Luchasaurus can't save multiple lines. Put that much effort into EVERYTHING, gentlemen.

Hair on Hager looks bad. Too brownish red looking for him. I ordered the whole set but now kind of regret it. What's up with Shida's feet. They look a little strange. After this series I am only going to pick and choose figures. Too many repeats and some not so great offerings. Don't need ten thousand Cody and Kenny etc.
This is a really fair assessment. And not just saying that for another SoCal guy....

To be fair, most lines will have highs and lows. With such a small team and budget issues, they cant put the same care as Lucha into every figure...

I love the AEW product on TV...but the toys aren't for me. Jazwares aren't hitting these scans well, and no boot swivels on Luchasaurus and PAC/Kaz is inexcusable. Attention to scale is out the window, but again this IS Jeremy from Jakks where scale was never a thing. I've kept my RSC exclusive Cody because he looks fantastically accurate, and the Lucha Bros series 2 because they are just awesome performers. I might get the new Santana & Ortiz because again I like the work these guys put in on TV, but I've since sold the rest of my AEW collection.
The biggest erk for me is the closeness of variant releases. Like I love white-gear Jurassic Express, but why so close to their series 4?! SCU has better red-gear 2-pack coming out, and the best Mox camo pants is a chase...Jeremy is just back to his old ways. With Unrivalled and Unmatched he's in danger of cannibalizing his own lines, consumers/collectors aren't going to be able to keep up.

So… It REALLY seems like Magic is no longer the designer for Unrivaled, as of this set. They’ve definitely moved him over to Unmatched.
Just look at the difference of quality in the renders for series 1-5, then Unmatched. Series 6 and beyond is definitely someone else.

Or is it possible Unrivaled 6 basically ended up being a casualty of prepping Unmatched 1 for release? Obviously they loaded the new series a couple of big debuts in Britt and wanted repaints (Dustin, Darby, arguably the best Kenny so far) which might have life Series 6 in a lurch. We’ll see. |

Legit, the lead designer for Unrivaled was changed. Magic's last series was 5, and then they put him on Unmatched. This is someone else. He even said it on a podcast... I forget which one, but it's true.

Well Unrivaled 7 didn’t look bad from the renders we saw. Maybe 6 was just growing pains or thrown together to have a set for the release window

Even the Mattel Elite line has a dud series once in a while. While the extra-hand debacle for Penta and Fenix is unexcusable, I can forgive Jazwares for giving us a series with mostly repaints. We’ve gotten quite a few unique sculpts already and it’s only been 6 series, so repaints were expected. And we still got two new figures in Hager and Shida (despite Hager’s weird hair color). I’ll give them some slack before totally crapping on them. |

I don’t know about that. I thought the Series 7 renders looked pretty bad myself. FTR doesn’t resemble their likeness much, Nyla looks oddly proportioned and Archer looks pretty skinny. The Bucks look okay though they’re just reused headscans
