Helo all.
To the home owners on this board, what state are you in, and how much is your yearly property tax? The reason I'm asking is I'm trying to buy a house. I'm in NJ, but close to the PA border. The difference between the 2 states (or state & commonwealth, if you will) is astounding.

I am in Phila PA (Northeast). I am not going to say exactly how much but it's went up every year around $50 to $100 but this year it went up over $750. I know NJ pays a heck of a lot or at least they used to. I wonder if we caught up to them now?

The one house I'm interested in is a 2 bed, 2 bath on less than an acre for $170,000. The taxes alone are a little over $5,000 per year. That seems awfully steep to me.

My parents pay 9,000 in my part of nj That must be a ritzy part of NJ Far from ritzy. Just a medium size house on a 50x100 lot. Nothing extravagant or anything.

I'm in NY property tax is fairly decent, but a lot of people I know move to NJ because the amount of property they get is bigger than in NY, but the higher taxes they pay is for their garbage, public school system..

Back in the late 90’s (‘98) my mom ended up selling my old family home in Roseland (Essex County NJ) because the property taxes were just north of $8000. It was a 2 family house on whatever 2 1/2 football fields would be as acres.
