Happy Birthday! Cant wait to get Eddie and both Bobby figures! I do agree that some of the magic is lost by the time we actually receive them. I think the delays are responsible for that for me. I was just as excited back in September as the day I saw it revealed but plenty has happened in those months that I think our minds kind of move on to the next exciting thing as if those figures are already in our collections. |

Received my Red Heenan - I know the wait for these figures from all companies is similar (in fact, Epic may have the shortest lead times?)but I do think it kind of takes away some of the good feeling around getting them and because we see and expect so much for so long before they’re in hand it kind of makes them less impressive when they finally arrive. Not sure there’s a solution to that but just saying. I was hoping that Epic may have moved to getting more of that Hasbro shine that Mitch has managed to capture with some of his more recent figures but it’s still got that dull ‘rubber’ feel and weird smell which I don’t love. I also think there’s something not quite right about the face, almost like they’re stuck between wanting to be Hasbro like and also wanting to be more realistic like Zombie. Overall, I’m happy to have a Heenan but I think I’d label it as ‘pretty good’ rather than ‘epic’. Yeah, I get what you mean, we're at a point of being probably an average of 2 years from announcement or concept art til figure being in hand in most cases with all these boutique companies. Some are quicker and some slower. It does kinda kill off much excitement since we tend to always be ready for the next and the next. I do wish more would be done in silence by all companies and just show us the item and take the orders when the final product is in hand and ready to ship. We do seem to be seeing a little bit of that, but still vast majority is long and drawn out usually with about a year to go after initial preorders. |

a little disappointed to hear Heenan is just "pretty good" and not "epic" enough =(. Still haven't gotten my shipping notice and I also wish Epic would figure out the "hasbro shine" - I think they have great sculpts and paint though and their character selection is incredible if wave 4 is going to include Dr. Death and Vader (my speculation).

This is not an Epic-exclusive problem. This is just the nature of the beast. You need to do the pre orders to determine demand, set a realistic release date, and then protect yourself from releasing an unacceptable product. Sometimes it’s just hard to keep that level of enthusiasm going the entire time. There isn’t much of a solution either. The best things to close the gap also work against a company. For example, if you didn’t announce or tease anything until a pre-orders started, you run the risk of looking inactive and forgettable. The other option is to do surprise drops and/or not do any pre orders. That is ideal as a customer but as a small business, you are rolling the dice by potentially losing money with every release. What I would love to see a company do is create a decent inventory of unannounced figures and introduce a yearly subscription service. Pay a flat fee, receive a single figure each month. Subscribers would receive at least one exclusive figure or variants only available through the annual membership. It’s probably an awful business model and would die an ugly death but it would also be amazing to just receive one figure a month without any additional drama, wait times, etc. |

There is just way too much to choose from, might work for the very smallest of collectors who are completionest no matter what is being made by a company, but that's just not the case for most collectors. Alot of people only want select promotions/years. Some like me, collect wrestlers only, so no managers/announcers/guys in suits and that seems to be a decent portion of what all the companies are doing. |

It’s a very flawed idea. It’s why so many of those subscription services have failed. The other “idea” I had was virtually identical in that a company creates a backlog of figures and releases one each month; subscription required. That way their name is always in the mix, people have something to look forward to, etc. Also, entire series don’t get delayed due to a single figure or two needing adjustments.

Pity these don’t have the Hasbro shine like the Zombie figures and some of the newer G&G ones. I was hoping for it on this series. I sold my Bulldogs because they didn’t quite look right next to the Hasbro’s. Epic have some great sculpts for hope they can up the quality for the next series. They do look a bit dull in the photos but I don’t have them in hand to confirm 100%.
