next week: cody's weekly title defense hangman vs five ivelisse vs diamante mjf w/ wardlow in action young bucks vs butcher and blade falls count anywhere jurassic express vs jericho and hager we shall try again next week. i got my hopes up too high for cage tonight, but there's nothing there for me to really worry about next week. tnt title matches are usually pretty good, five/alan angels is fun to watch so him and page should be good. ivelisse vs diamante will  ing rule. mjf is great but i'm really liking anything wardlow is doing lately. fca match will be fun. it's too bad sammy isn't there to take hager's spot or the last match would be even better. still looking forward to it tho. Now that I think about it, other than Page vs Five the rest of the card looks solid. I hope they deliver. They said Cody’s match will be the main event so maybe it will be a cool surprise opponent? |

^JR quickly corrected himself and then said "one of many main events" or something of that nature. he was full of botches all night, but most of the show was full of botches so it is a bit cruel to single him out.
AEW haven't done many below par shows so they were due one, next week should be better.

I mean if Arn wasn't lying, we know Cody's opponent will be Warhorse. I suppose that could be another week too though, who knows. I know Cody wanted to sign warhorse back in like February along with Danhausen and Ethan Page (Who is sadly stuck in impact until forever and a day). Page vs. Five will be a huge squash in Page's favour, but I think it's likely Brodie sending a message to his lot about screwing things up with not getting Hangman Page, so he's feeding one of them to him as punishment to show them how good Page is and how much they screwed up. Bonus points if he has a stack of paper to hit Uno with when Page wins. I could 100% see Uno & Grayson taking the tag titles off of Page as a way to appease Brodie for botching getting Hangman in the first place. They were the #1 rank before they got stuck in Canada. |

Well the majority seem to have liked the show elsewhere too. Looking across some other forums etc everything was largely positive. #1 trending in America and Canada on twitter. Well I enjoyed it. Hyped for Ivelisse vs. Diamante next week. I was hoping for them against Brandi/Allie since that was the theory/rumour I had heard, but I'd much rather just see them bang it out against each other so this is much better. I really hope they're both actually #allelite. If warhorse shows up next week for Cody I'll be pretty pumped. I hadn't watched him before but after Arn mentioned it I went and looked him up. 80's heavy metal rocker who has a DIY setup in his garage gym?! My kinda dude. I think I might stay away from this thread next week though lol. My feed is always like 2-4 minutes behind so I'm always playing catchup on here, and goddamn does that negativity take the fun out of a show if I'm enjoying it. Constructive criticism is one thing but man, this was kinda toxic tonight.That's why I dipped out on like, page 6. |

I mean, I think we’re moving into Mox/MJF. Cage/MJF could hve worked, but Darby/Cage is a great way to have Cage bounce back and look like a monster. What sucks is that where does Darby go next? He doesn't need to be on Dark. Hes a star. If anything his feud with Cody ends and he takes that TNT title Darby’s not ready for a title run yet. Is he one of my favorites in AEW? Yes, but he’s not a star yet. |

I don't think the thread was toxic at all, just a few saying certain segments and matches were not very good, nothing wrong with that.
The only part of the show i really enjoyed was Kenny being heel towards the midget Marko Stunt, hilarious.

With the slow teasing of a Cody heel turn and the not so-subtle teasing from Omega (which every AEW fan wants) does anyone feel there's a real shortage of viable faces? It's Hangman Page, then maybe Darby if they build him up, and I guess technically Moxley even though I don't think he's a particularly interesting one. Compare that to the other "top guys" like MJF, Jericho, Cage, Pac when he comes back, Archer, and I guess Brodie, along with Cody and Omega after they turn. Booking's going to become a real issue IMO.

- opener wasn't spectacular, but was solid. it's another cody win against a babyface, builds his number without taking anyone's heat
- tag match was great i thought. ftr was impressive - that ddt to the outside was something else!
- jericho referencing ratings was cringe, but his time on commentary was awesome
- didn't find that they overdid tully at all, they need to clarify to the audience despite what we feel we may or may not know
- bucks vs jurassic express was fun, and seeing omega turn into a tweener was great.
- mox/cage could've been better, but overall it was an awesomely hard hitting match, and the finish complimented both
i thought it was a really fun episode, and far from their worst. cage winning would've been fun, but i've already said why i felt mox needed to retain.

Not the greatest of episodes but far from bad imo.
So is Cody gonna attack Arn to turn full heel?
FTR-Lucha Bros wasn't what I was expecting but I mightve had my hopes to high still a decent match. Please give me Tag Team Champs Lucha Bros or split them up and Fenix can be a big face if Cody or Kenny turns or both.
Nightmare Sisters/Nyla/Jericho's promo was rough
6 man was really good and a Kenny possible turn I couldn't ask for anything else
Mox and Cage was ok I thought they should leave the title on Mox so I'm glad they did and it was great seeing Darby back probably my favorite part out of the whole show.
Very happy Ivelisse is in AEW she's what I'm looking forward to most next week rest of the show doesn't look very great.

I swear to god they better not be messing with me on all of these Cody, FTR, and Hangman teasing. Between Tully watching both Cody and FTR matches, and then FTR drinking with Hangman...I’m super intrigued

My biggest complaint about AEW the past few months is the same thing the WWE is guilty of. They constantly tell us people like Jurassic Express, Darby Allin, Private Party, are the future of the company, big stars etc, but they fail to ever win anything of note. They have them beat some jobbers, lower level talent on Dark to say they have a “winning streak” but then they get beaten like a drum several weeks in a row. You can only do that so much before you get “jobber” stink on you and have to work 3x as hard to get it off. I mean I can’t tell you when anyone from Jurassic Express beat anyone of note.

I re-watched most of the show and I think the episode as a whole would have been better if the card was reshuffled. If FTR/LB switched spots with Cody/Kiss I think it would have been better. It seems small, but the first match of Dynamite sets the tone for the rest of the show.
The orange juice spot would have been so much better if Ortiz wasn’t overselling. He has go away heat with me.
The Vickie stuff is going to be horrible. I’m not walking that back.
Dynamite needs a chaotic 6-man match every week. This place does trios so well.

I think the show was “fine” wasn’t bad but wasn’t what you would consider a good show by normal standards. With me it’s 100% on FTR vs Lucha Bros shouldn’t be a throwaway match on tv, should absolutely be a built tag titles feud. Shouldn’t be a backdrop to Butcher and Blades feud over a stolen truck with FTR. I knew it was gonna be Vickie and I hate it. She was so done and had go away heat at the end of her Wwe run doing this same sthick she will be doing here. She was great in her time but didn’t change, Evolve or anything. That Jericho segment was just dumb, it’s an overdone Wwe spot, plain and simple. They rely on it too much and AEW should be doing anything that’s a common spot. Especially like you said Ortiz’s comic overselling of the Vince beer swim spot. I like Jericho but as much as he was tremendous and original in the beginning lately it’s just been rehashed Wwe moments. The Tyson thing and this. |
