www.nytimes.com/2020/07/06/movies/ennio-morricone-dead.htmlI know a lot of people here probably might not know who he is, but anyone who was a fan of the Dollars Trilogy movies, should, as he's the man behind the music of those movies. Honestly, I would say his music, is a bit part of what helped make those films the classics that they are. And most recently, he did work for The Hateful Eight, which he finally won his first Oscar for. And I'd say, while he's not as well known as someone like John Williams, I think he's right up there with him, in his importance in film scoring. And probably the two most famous pieces of music he ever did:

Very sad news. But he lived a very long life & made some of the most iconic music. He's a perfect example of "Oh, I know that theme, but I don't know who wrote it".
Looks like I'll have to go & watch Blondie, Tuco & Angel Eyes.

Looks like I'll have to go & watch Blondie, Tuco & Angel Eyes. Yeah, that's the silver lining here, that the man had a long and full life, and he got to know, how much his work was respected and loved, while he was still here. Hell, I'd dare say, if it wasn't for his score, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly might not be as iconic as it became. It's kinda like the fire triangle, you need all three for fire, well with the movie, you had the three parts, Sergio Leone directing, Ennio Morricone composing and Clint, Eli and Lee acting the main roles. If you take out one of those three sides, you don't have the iconic movie we have today.

The only CD that I have of his is The Good The Bad and The Ugly. I really need more of his scores on CD. He's known for more than just The Good The Bad and The Ugly. He scored, The Untouchables The Hateful Eight (Academy Award Winner) Mission To Mars The Thing Bugsy Once Upon a Time in America Once Upon a Time in The West Two Mules for Sister Sara Lorenzo's Oil

But at least he was able to have the satisfaction of the win, and not just the lifetime achievement one from 07.

I absolutely loved everything about the music in Cinema Paradiso, a beautiful film to begin with.

Just realized, when I was posted some of his music, about Good The Bad and the Ugly, I forgot about the piece, that I think gets over looked in the movie, because you have the main theme and Ecstasy of Gold. The way his music builds up the tension in THE Mexican standoff (to me, this scene is not a Mexican standoff, it's the Mexican standoff) until they all finally draw, is so good. And yes, I know the man had an extensive list of work in cinema, I'm just biased on Good the Bad and the Ugly, because it's my favorite movie.

Rest In Peace. The Good,Bad and Ugly theme is timeless. Had it on my Ipod since day 1. RIP Mr. Morricone That’s one of my phone’s ringtones. It plays whenever my Father-in-law, mother-in-law and brothers-in-law calls. I’ll let you decide who’s who.

Aside from his work with westerns, his The Thing soundtrack was amazing. He did over 500 cinematic scores.

Worked with some of the best directors ever, worked practically all the big name Italian directors with the exception of Fellini. But Fellini had Nino Rota.

I have a friend who was raving about a particular film score, it was none other than The Mission by Ennio Morricone. I may have to hunt down the CD for that.
