EDIT: OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM FOX SPORTS DIVISION: “Today, we announced programming changes designed to better address the needs of our business. As a result, some positions in our production department have been eliminated.” After FOX declared cost-cutting measures that would have affected the weekly production of the FS1 talk series, the feeling is that the show has likely finished its run. It had consistently struggled to garner ratings, even after making what most initially considered to be a "big splash" by bringing back CM Punk to the WWE/wrestling scene. It was not ruled that the show could be restructured as a special from time to time. wrestlingnews.co/wwe-news/wwe-backstage-is-likely-done-for-good/wrestlingnews.co/wwe-news/fox-sports-issues-statement-on-the-end-of-wwe-backstage/

Can’t really say anything of value was lost? I mean, if punk coming back doesn’t make your show succeed, I think it’s safe to say that it’s not going to get any better.

WWE should be even more terrified that FOX wanted to scale back and their talk show was chosen. It’s highly unlikely they’d do something similar to SmackDown, but they’re definitely not getting another sweetheart deal when the contract expires.

I really like Backstage. I hope the WWE just keeps it going on the Network.

I really enjoyed it for first couple shows but I've lost interest in it since then.

It wouldn't matter who hosted or how fun the show was, a 11 o'clock on a Tuesday night is a terrible time slot. It was entertaining till the pandemic forced them to do the live chats from home. It's just not the same. Fox is still filling Tuesday evenings up with WWE content, so it's not like they're souring on the relationship.

If no one is watching Smackdown on network TV in prime time then why would anyone expect a show talking about that show on cable TV airing late night would succeed? CM Punk wasn’t gonna save it. Maybe if he came in and stirred things up and said things controversial that may generate some buzz but he was just another talking head that just randomly showed up from time to time.

I gave it a fair shot and never really cared for it. I’m a big Punk fan but he disappointed me with most questions he asked guests, especially during the webcam episodes during this pandemic. His conversations with Daniel Bryan and Bret Hart should have been great, instead they were bland as .

Sources have confirmed that Fox are currently looking to exit their WWE deal and give that SmackDown timeslot to AEW Dark. A Fox executive was quoted as saying “two million dirty casuals on a Friday night? Nope! We want half a million real sports feel fans instead, and for that, we need real sports feel content like Matt Hardy’s magical costume changes and Orange Cassidy.... Uh, or maybe just Family Guy reruns or something.”

I never watched a full episode, only a few notable clips. so I won’t miss it. I also just can’t really listen to booker rabble on about the product.

That was why I never got into the show much as well. Whenever I watched it, Booker and Renee were doing pretty much the same routine they always do on the various kick-off shows. Sometimes I found the promo school stuff fun, but there was just almost nothing on the show that I found must-see.

Nobody was asking for that kind of a show anyways. It’s like an inside sports for pro wrestling and they were on a terrible time slot.

This makes Punk's return even more pointless. I've never heard of it so I don't know what the fuss is. So you never heard about Punk's "return"? We never got it over here, anyway - you had to watch it on Youtube.
