Today Joel Schumacher passed away from cancer. He was the director who directed both ‘Batman Forever’ and ‘Batman and Robin.’ Those were always two favorite movies of mine. Even though they were corny and cartoony I loved that stuff when I was a kid. Thank you for the memories Joel. R.I.P.

RIP. I'll never forget how the writers of The New Batman Adventures made fun of him

I recently watched Batman Forever when I was at my sisters house. I practically grew up on that film in my youth. It's not as bad as Batman & Robin was but it is still cringy at times. Joel also directed DC Cab which is one of his earlier films. DC Cab is one of those weird cliche 80s movies that features a lot of 80s actors such as the Barbarian Brothers

RIP. I did like Batman Forever although while I felt Kilmer was a much needed step up physically from Keaton I felt Robin looked to be in better shape than Batman in that film. And when Clooney was announced for B&R I had high hopes, but that movie turned into a campy mess. I recently watched Batman Forever when I was at my sisters house. He wasn't the main character though he appeared on the poster

Forever and Batman and Robin were huge parts of my childhood. R.I.P Mr. Schumacher.

Batman Forever was my favorite Batman movie as a kid, and I can honestly say it still is for a multitude of reasons.
RIP

Incredibly underrated director that unfortunately his body of work gets overshadowed by the Batman films. I think he gets too much heat for those films. The studio wanted what they wanted which wasn't Burton, Schumacher was the lucky one to catch the (supposedly) 10 million dollar check. Schumacher actually wanted to do Frank Miller's Batman: Year One but after the McDonalds situation with Batman Returns the studio insisted on a lighter tone.
He has great films. St. Elmo's Fire and Falling Down are my personal favorites but don't sleep on The Client and 8MM.

Falling Down is a great film. Unfortunately he never quite met that mark of quality again. I really didn't like his Phantom of the Opera. The man loved his Dutch angles. Rip.

It gets dumped on a lot but I like Batman Forever. I remember seeing A Time to Kill in Law class years ago. Great flick. RIP

Late to the party here, but it's a damn shame this guy's legacy is always going to be his role in the downfall of the Batman franchise. He's got a stupid-good list of films that he helmed, each of which more than overshadows Batman Forever or Batman & Robin.
St. Elmo's Fire The Lost Boys (which I'm amazed nobody has mentioned yet) Falling Down The Client A Time to Kill Phone Booth

But it’s a shame I forgot he directed both The Client and Phone Booth. Pretty sure the latter is a Stephen King book too, so more power to him.
