Going through some of my stuff to decide if there is stuff I can sell. I discovered I have a pretty rare PS3 game still sealed. While looking at the market on a game like that, I saw some stuff on video game grading. I’m pretty ignorant to the grading world but have started looking at it recently for trading cards.
Does anyone here have any thoughts or experience with video game grading? From brief research it seems CGA is the main source but their website looks pretty low rent. Not sure if the costs worth the investment for something that I’m looking to sell, so I thought I’d check with the community for thoughts and feedback.

From what I've seen most disc based games are not worth grading if you are looking to sell it. Most video game collectors are fine with paying top dollar if the game is still sealed.
Cartridge based games however could be worth it depending on the game and condition of the box.

Made me think of this.
I can't see there being a big market for rare PS3 games but you never know. I would try asking on reddit or maybe check ebay to get an idea on what sealed copies of the game without grades are selling for.

If you haven't already you can look the game up on pricecharting and see if they have any sales data for graded. Compare it to new copies sales.

Comics, cards, coins, old cart based games get slabbed and sealed because every day they are exposed to the elements, the lower their stock goes and the more likely they are to get damaged. So you are locking them in place, "guaranteeing" they are what they are. Modern games don't have that push. They aren't decades old and stored in cardboard. The market just doesn't exist right now for a lot of these more modern games to get graded, rare or not.
