Were you watching it live at the time? I was always curious what it was like for someone watching live when he was revealed. Were there any rumors it was him? Yes I've been watching since the mid 80's. I'm old as dirt. No I don't think anyone saw it coming. I remember people thought it was Vince. But I don't remember anyone guessing DDP. As someone who also watched it live, I can second this. Never saw it coming. I also mostly enjoyed the angle set up.

1. Sports Entertainment has ruined the soul of professional wrestling.
2. Kenny Omega is the best wrestler of all time.
1. The RAW and Smackdown women have ZERO talent.
2. Chris Benoit deserves to be respected as a top talent, even though ...

Charlotte Flair is the greatest women's wrestler of all time.
AJ Styles peaked in 2014 and has been remotely average ever since.

Unpopular Dislike(s)
The Rock. He seems like a stellar guy IRL, don't get me wrong. And I enjoy seeing his occasional appearance these days more than most legends who show up from time to time. But, during the Attitude Era, I loathed everything about him. Heel, face, didn't matter. I couldn't stand him. Mostly because, while everyone loved his catchphrases and so-called charisma, I thought that anyone who used the same 10 lines every single promo was obnoxious, and his lack of ability to convey nuance in his acting was non-existent. I remember once watching him walk in completely calm, flatten a guy (I believe it was Spike Dudley), then continue walking as if nothing ever happened. That's not edgy or subtle, that's just bad acting. At least throw some quiet seething rage in there!
Also, while I loved watching the Attitude Era as it happened, I was also 15 and didn't know better. At 15, I thought Jerry Springer was awesome, so seeing it on WWF was great too. In retrospect, yes, it was a product of its time. And yes, it was one of the biggest eras for wrestling in general. But seriously, go back and look at some of those angles with a discerning eye, and realize just how horrible the product and what it was selling was. I fell in love with Shane in 1998, and the Corporate Ministry was one of my (at the time) favorite storylines (up until the reveal). But as a grown woman, going back and watching what the modern implications involve regarding the storylines with Stephanie and her being basically sold to 'Taker... it kinda makes me glad I didn't know better back then.
Unpopular Like: Well, I think this one is pretty self-explanatory now, isn't it. (*gestures loudly at icon*)

Chris Benoit deserves to be respected as a top talent, even though ...The fact that he will never be in the HOF, despite the now well documented information regarding CTE/Brain Injury and the stuff it makes people do, and yet Jimmy Snuka was inducted despite the fact that Vince knew what he did... It's one of the greatest travesties of our time. Yes, Snuka was quietly removed/unacknowledged. But they knew before he was put in. They had to. Vince gets the final say on all these entries, and he knew more than anyone what really happened.

Unpopular dislike: Kurt Angle was always overrated.

Unpopular like: Wrestling is the house that Hogan built....no doubt & when it was in the doldrums in the mid 90s he spearheaded its revival.
Unpopular dislike: I haven't found Randy Orton entertaining since his feud with Cactus Jack in 2004.

(*gestures loudly at icon*) To be fair, walking in, handling business, and walking out like nothing happened is EXTREMELY badass. Once saw that happen in a real fight. Some guy was messing with this girl, her boyfriend walked over, pushed the guy out the way and put his hands up as to say just go away and let it go. Needless to say, he didnt go away. Shoved the boyfriend, who proceeded to sit his drink down, land 3 haymakers, pick his drink up and walk back out. No emotion, no words, nothing.

I've never liked or rated Sasha Banks from day one. All the time people on here were raving about her in NXT, I would be telling people just how overrated and mediocre she was - and that Charlotte was better. At the time it was an unpopular opinion on here, and I had Kevstaa, in particular, constantly telling me how she was the "greatest female performer, in the history of the company" - or words to that effect. However, over time, many people have come to realise she's not that good, so I'd say it's more of a popular opinion, these days.
Unpopular dislike #1, leads me nicely into unpopular dislike #2... Banks vs Bayley at TO Brooklyn. Most people witnessed a supposed MOTY, in excess of a 4-star rating, one of the best women's matches ever... Personally, I saw an overhyped, overrated, botchfest, worth 2.5 stars at best.
Just for a current unpopular dislikes, I'll throw in that I think Liv Morgan is all around useless... and I don't get the fuss over Andrade at all.
Unpopular like #1 Charlotte Flair is the greatest female worker in the history of the company - and is fully deserving of all the title reigns she's been given. Also, she should have pinned Rousey and won at 'Mania - in fact, if it had been up to me, Lynch wouldn't have been in the match. It should've been Charlotte vs Rousey - like it was supposed to be, until the women's division got hijacked by all the "Man" nonsense. Although the fans are mostly to blame for championing that rubbish, to begin with.
Unpopular like #2 Sonya DeVille is hotter than Mandy Rose. Sonya is all natural, while Rose is just another pneumatic, silicone-filled, blonde doll. If you gave me a choice between Sonya and Mandy, I'm taking Sonya every time.

1) Ruthless Aggression era > Attitude Era
2) Daniel Bryan just doesnβt do anything for me. Guy seems like a genuinely great person and someone Iβd personally befriend, but his matches and story lines have always bored me.

He literally walked in the arena, the other guy was standing there and said hello, Rock put him through a table, and kept walking. There was no story there. No beef. And zero emotion. The fella just got fed to Rocky to prove that Rocky was in a bad mood... only there was no actual bad mood to be shown. The only real showing of a bad mood was later that night when he cut his promo... which since I can't remember at all, I doubt was any different from his usual promos. I don't know. I could be remembering it wrong. As I say, it was 20 years ago, and I haven't seen it once since. But I did find an old write up I did for that episode that contained a line something like "Hey! The Rock is here! Wait- oh, I guess he's in a bad mood. Never would have figured that from the emotionless, calm look on his face!" I just really didn't like the Rock, and it had nothing to do with his being a heel or face. Honestly? The turning point where I started to enjoy him was his Hollywood Heel turn. I loved him against The Hurricane. That was one of the best things I remember them doing that year. I lost my ish at the "Tiny Dingaling" comment. Good times.

Hey, I just thought of another unpopular opinion.
Unpopular opinion (in general): Charlotte is awesome. She's deserving of her title wins. But not her title reigns. Having her eventually be a 16-time champ is going to mean little if her reigns are all a week or two long. She won her first true Women's Championship in 2016, and including the current NXT title, she's had 10 wins in 4 years?
That's not impressive, it's sad. If you have 10 separate title reigns in 4 years it means you may be able to win the title, but you can't hold onto it for crap. Bayley's been smackdown champion for what, a year now? And how weak has she looked since winning? That many title losses is not something to be proud of IMHO and if they wanted to make her seem dominant, they would give her the title and let her keep it for a while, with a bunch of successful defenses along the way.

Santina's cameo in the women's Rumble was awesome and in a way kind of genius. I don't think it was distasteful as most thought, but actually erased the decade stink of the Miss Wrestlemania crap. We've had women enter the men's Rumbles without any backlash.
More importantly however; the way I viewed it at the time was HE eliminated himself because she was afraid of the talented female wrestlers and showed just how far women's wrestling had come since Mania 25.

I miss big blokes being standard. Wardlow and Luchasaurus being treated like monsters because absolutely everyone else is 6' or under bums me out.

Unpopular Dislikes- I don't get the hype for Humberto Carillo, he's honestly not that impressive. Unpopular Likes
- Riddick Moss is a star, and should be a future World Champion. Humberto - I think his name sucks, as does his haircut. For some reason both stop me from getting behind him. Moss - I wouldn't say world champion, but he is a very good at working the crowd, he was one of the stand outs when I saw NXT live. Thee two were hurt the most by the pandemic. I forgot all about Humberto and Moss.

Unpopular opinions I donβt like the intercontinental championship current design. Things that I miss John Cena being a full timer dolph Ziggler being a good guy I miss the riot squad being a tag team And that about it I definitely miss all of those, too.
