Hey y'all,
I know most kids and colleges have transfered to online learning for the time being, or at least were given thick packets of work to be done either by the time schools return to in person servicing, or before the end of the school year depending on your district. Personally, all of my stuff has been changed to synchronous learning. I know many schools are also working with the teachers to help make sure that they have specific times they can be around to help students answer their questions about this, that, or the other.
If any of your kids, or you, need assistance in history/social studies, politics, civics, or government, I would be more than happy to assist them or you via Zoom (basically a different Skype). I also can write a mean essay paper, so while I'm not able to help with English classes specifically, I can always help with proofreading, teaching how to brainstorm, how to use and cite sources, stuff like that. I am NOT a K-12 teacher, I've got to make that clear. I'm a professor at Pittsburgh's largest community college, who's taught students from 16-infinate. But those subjects mentioned above are what I teach specifically. I would be happy to help them, or you, should the need be there. I have my clearances and everything, so no worries there, so just shoot me a message if you're in need of some help.
Education is always important, especially now. I don't want to step on the toes of any teachers, as they should ALWAYS be the first lines of contact for problems. But for anything external/added help, I'd be more than happy to be of assistance. Shoot me a PM if you need it!

Cool thing to do 👍🏼
My sons fourth grade teacher lives across the street from us. He was doing a math packet this morning. He loves math. My daughter struggles with math and it’s gonna be difficult to bring her back to it I think unfortunately.
I’m a big into history, social science, business and philosophy so my kids seems to follow those subjects pretty easily

I’m a big into history, social science, business and philosophy so my kids seems to follow those subjects pretty easily Math is the bane of my existence. Failed it once in high school, and twice in college. Finally found an algebra professor that taught crash course style and I snuck in two passing grades and called it a career. I loved my economics courses though, which is weird. There are a TON of options out there for tutoring when it comes to STEM classes. Khan Academy, Tutor, Mathway, Photomath, among others. Tutor is direct "person to person" via their website, basically a virtual classroom. I did some APUSH tutoring there during grad school for extra money and had a pleasant experience, so I recommend it. Might take a couple of tries to find a tutor that educates the way that works best for her, but it's a start. Especially since they keep changing math around because of Common Core. The way you learned math is different from me. The way I learned is different from now. And they're real sticklers about using "the current way" to solve crap as opposed to whatever way works best. Glad yours are into history, though. There's ALWAYS something new to learn, and coupled with philosophy the enrichment is endless. I'm a Hobbes guy, myself.

Really, really selfless gesture. Good on you, bro. We're in a time where we have to come together. There's no one alive now that lived through the Spanish Flu, so we're learning how to deal with a pandemic on the fly. But even though we're quarantined, the era in which we live is unprecedented thanks to technology. You HAD to be face to face to learn a hundred years ago when people were cooped up. Thanks to the internet today though, we have to pump the brakes but nothing has to come to a complete standstill. I live by the idea that those with the ability to take action have the responsibility to take action, and that applies to every facet of life. I just happen to be in education, so I've gotta do my part in between binging anime.

Kudos to you for being a helpful voice. I'm a K-6 teacher and a parent. I love how technology is helping us bridge some gaps. You're right, nothing can replace face to face interaction. Hopefully things can go back to normal after the summer.

But I teach history, not tech, so I'm about as helpful as a hedgehog in a condom factory when it comes to tech support. 😅
