Hello all, what celeb death that you have been alive for has affected you most?
Mine was Pakelika from KMK. Dude was a towering, positive presence for me, and his death affects me to this day. Thinking of seeing them live, twice, and him doing Pak things will always bring a smile to my face. RIP Big Pak..your legacy lives on and you are truly missed.
Let this space serve as a place to honor some of the ones that influenced whom we have become.

Piper. I was lucky that I was able to tell him on more than one occasion that without what he did that I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing.

Eddie Guerrero as far as wrestlers go. That one was rough.
Mainstream celeb wise, Don Pardo hit me very very hard. Still not fully over it kinda.

Stan Lee. I met him multiple times, had many (admittedly brief) conversations with him.

Jim Henson. Died way too soon and he could have been saved.
Benny Hill. Also died too soon.
Dave Brockie (Oderus Urungus from GWAR). Saw in an interview that he said he liked drugs, but that he would never do heroin. Ended up overdosing on heroin a few years later.

He died a year before I was born. But I grew up watching Great Outdoors, Uncle Buck, and Spaceballs. Once I was old enough and found out he had already died. I was heartbroken.

Only three celebrity deaths have hit me weird. Scott Weiland, Chester Bennington, and Stephen Hillenburg.

Uncle Buck and Planes,Trains, and Automobiles are my favs from his career.

It hard to name one. I was a senior when Bill Hicks passed away. My circle of friends were devastated by that one. Cobain died like two months later I think. The girl I was dating at the time was a big Nirvana fan and completely shut down when he died. We ended up breaking up actually because Cobains death.
Elliott Smith was tough. That one was hard on me. I got to see him live twice and the first time I saw him the show was bad. He was unable to make it through songs. But the second time he was great and I thought everything was ok.

Was really bummed about Phillip Seymour Hoffman, James Gandolfini, Greg Giraldo, and Billy Mays (for some reason) but Steve McNair's legitimately ruined my day.

Robin Williams - that one still hurts. And more recently - Caroline Flack, just because of how much the police and the mental health service let her down when it was obvious she was struggling and needed help. Having felt like that myself many, many times, it really angers and upsets me when something like that happens.

Two come to mind right away.
Tony Gwynn - I was 8, so this was 1983 or so and just seriously getting into sports. I had just started collecting baseball cards, and I would make it a point to read the back of every card I bought in a pack, superstars and common players alike. Gwynn's was the first player I had seen a card of who was born in the 60's and his name stuck in my head for some odd reason. OF course, as he became a legendary hitter, I followed his career. HE seemed to play the game the right way at all times, as well as being the type of guy worthy of the title "Role Model"
Dusty Rhodes - As a child of the 80's, Hulkamania drew me into wrestling, but luckily, I had neighbors who were long time fans at that point and quickly turned me on to the NWA on TBS. I became a huge Ric Flair fan. He was the first 'cool' bad guy I had ever seen. The NWA product looked more real then the WWF. The guys were tougher and meaner, and Flair was the damn champion - he MUST be the best!
As I grew up and learned more about it, I realized the reason I loved Flair so much was because he had a Dusty Rhodes to play off. Dusty was entertaining and looked different. He wasn't the bodybuilder type, just a big ol' guy who could fight. Once I learned Dusty was the brains behind the operation, my respect for him grew even more.
The one that is going to rock me the most will be Flair one of these days. I'm in my mid 40's and not ashamed to admit I'll probably cry like a baby.

Jamal/Umaga. I was a huge fan of his and he had been on the Hulkamania tour just days before. Only 36 years old and gone like that. It still sucks I'll never see him or Rosey come out to the badass street gangsters gimmick again.

I did see Nirvana live but it was mainly because the girl I was with wanted to go. My best friend was hit hard by Dimebag. We were actually shooting a movie and he was my lead in the movie but because of the assassination my friend just couldn't do the rest of the film. I just stopped making it. I knew my friend would never be able to watch it because it would put him back in that place.
