So, I had problems sleeping last night because I'm pretty sure I had a fever. I don't know where my thermometer is, but I woke up drenched in sweat and all-around gross. And I also woke up with a cough. I've been sleeping constantly these last three days, and just can't get enough energy to do anything. I fear I may have caught it, as there's 26 confirmed cases in my tiny town right now, with 150+ pending cases. And, due to my status as a dang poor person, I couldn't afford to stockpile and just shut myself off, which means I've been going out at least twice a week for supplies; it would be very easy for me to have caught it at some point these past few weeks. But I'm pretty sure I'm not symptomatic enough to be allowed a test. I don't know. I'm tempted to call into Urgi-care and see what I should do. First step is to find my thermometer. I'll probably do that and go from there. Good luck man. I hope you feel better. Down here it takes 4 symptoms for a test, and IIRC, being in the danger category. Hopefully your spot it different. Though, even with those test parameters, only around 1 of 9 had the virus, so there is that....hopefully it is just the flu or upper resperatory infection. On a side note, do any other "essential workers" on here feel like quitting when this all finally blows over? I want to finally rest, like others have been doing. Granted, I know I wont quit, but still, I'd love to. ![:(](http://www.wrestlingfigs.com/images/sad.gif) I want to quit my job every day...but they pay me way too damn much to do that lol. I have to say though, worse case scenario I have it pretty made right now. Ive got 80hrs of Vacation to take this year, 80 hrs of PTO I can take and they also gave all full timers 80hrs of ETO that can be used for sick leave. I could take 6 weeks off (would have been 7 but I took off last week) and still get paid. Sure Id miss out on my OT & quarterly bonus but...worst case scenario.

So 20 drivers at the UPS hub where I work are out. 6 vacation, 4 on disability & 10 are either in quarantine or on family leave. In the section I work in, my supervisor is in self-isolation & another guy has been sick for over a month. I've been doing physical labor with a high-grade dust mask on. If anything, my lungs are going to get really strong.
I can't help feel that something fishy is going on at work, though.

I quit smoking because of all this but I really didn’t want to. They say if you are or were a smoker you should consider that to be a underlying health issue. Every time I hear a report about the connection with smoking it gives me anxiety.

Well, the one local grocery store has now changed their policy that you must enter on one side of the store, and exit on the other, as well as adding arrows directing how you must traverse the store - and there is no protocol in place for handicapped or disabled people who are unable to walk that extra distance.
I have said it before, and I will say it again. These "concessions" absolutely smack of privilege.
You can't have telenet medical appointments if you don't have video capabilities. You can't wear homemade masks if you don't have the materials to make them You can't shelter at home if you are homeless.
As much as people talk about quarantine and things to protect people. But there are rarely options in place for those who lack the abilities to meet those adjustments. And that's not even going into the situation of how many people are trapped in abusive situations at home, now unable to escape. I'm lucky I have my own place. If I were still living at home, I wouldn't survive.
I guess I'm going to be going to Walmart until this is over. At least they have plenty of mobility carts to use there.

When they announced our schools were closing, all I could think of was the school I was working at the year prior. The majority of the kids I taught came from very broken homes, and didn't feel safe at home. We used to send food packages home with plenty of kids over the holidays, because they relied on school for breakfast, lunch, and a snack each day. I worry a lot about how some of those kids are doing right now.

My grandmother smoked from a young age until her mid 60’s and she passed at 78 years old. My dad smoked as much as me and he passed at 73. I am 41 so I need to raise my kids first before I go

vampiroporvida I feel like quitting everyday. I value my health more than my crappy job. I’ll start with the way we’re treated. We’re required to get our temperature checked everyday, which is a good safety precaution. Now we do this ourselves in front of those in charge, just yesterday one gave me an attitude because I didn’t follow instructions properly. Now, here’s a problem... we’re surrounded by customers. So let’s get this straight we’re required to get our temperatures checked, but customers aren’t? Two people at my job have gotten infected and one customer had the virus. How does this protect us? Social distancing? People are bumping into one another and there’s no such thing as having 6 ft apart. At least from what I’ve seen... On top of that I have constant back pain, and the temperature at work does not help... It’s usually cold. if we’re sick or call out we’re required to use PTO or get a doctor’s note. Now add taking public transportation to the mix. There’s been an increase of homeless people in the subway and we’re trapped in a subway cart with some of them coughing. Sorry for the long rant, but this is my experience in nyc. Hope everyone else working gets through this, I’m deeply concerned.

Because corporations only care about their consumer's rights and well-being. They bring in the CEOs money. Workers are expendable considering you're paid. That's why once when I worked retail and a customer called my coworker the n word and I told him to shut up and leave the store, I was reprimanded for being rude to a customer and the racist got a free tank of gas out of it. Not to make this thread political, but there's a reason fast food chains are going on strike because of this. Capitalism is only beneficial to the top, and they're the top, so why care about those they perceive to be below them?

Anyone wanna catch me up on its status, I been working a lot America has surpassed Spain, Italy, South Korea, Iran, and China with the most confirmed cases. Cases are coming in even faster in America because we have idiots still partying and not staying home. Wouldn't be surprised if we're at a million by month's end. And yet, the government is doing everything they can to end the lockdown nationwide by the 1st, despite the fact that pretty much every doctor he's talked to, including the member of his cabinet Surgeon General Adams, have said that's not going to end well. Wuhan and Iran JUST started lifting some sanctions, and this started with those two in November, which is also when sanctions came down from XI Jinping and Ayatolah Khomani. Italy is still on lockdown too. That's five months. We ain't magically being cured here in America with just under two months of quarantine, especially since our numbers continue to rise very steadily in most areas. And since most African countries are now starting to see a surge, our soldiers, Doctors without Borders, and the Peace Corps run the risk of infection as they're the ones being dispatched to help. And then they'll come home being exposed, asymptomatic or not. Oh, and the British Prime Minister nearly died from it, and yet he's still taking the same approach as Trump. Take that how you will.

My state has 3rd in most cases in the US but is the 6th smallest state. The county I live in has the most cases in the state and it is not an urban area.

As long as poop like this is going on nobody should be surprised that America's numbers are #1.

As long as poop like this is going on nobody should be surprised that America's numbers are #1. I just learned that near the town where I grew up, the police had to break up a big party in the woods. Some people just aren't going to internalize the message, regardless of how often it's given to them.
