Joey Janela wouldn’t be relevant in any other promotion than AEW I go back and forth with him That’s unfortunately how I feel about most of the AEW roster. A few standouts. Like MJF (obviously), Darby Allin, Lucha Bros, etc. But I feel most of the roster is overly gimmicked and wouldn’t be over anywhere outside of AEW’s “smarky” crowd. That’s your personal opinion and I respect it. Mine is I find AEW a refreshing take and something we’ve needed for a while. And most of the newer guys never had a national platform to ply their trade; they would’ve never been touched in WWE, and you know that company’s track record of killing good talent and ideas dead. I enjoy the established people from the indies and I don’t mind seeing younger unknowns make a bigger paycheck and get more exposure than they ever would’ve in NXT or WWE. |

It may be true that some of the gimmicky ones couldn't really thrive elsewhere, but that's what makes me really happy AEW exists. I love sporty wrestling, NJPW is the promotion I watch second most to AEW, but I really enjoy the gimmicky stuff too.
