6. Austin doesn't turn heel One of the dumbest moments in WWF history was when after years of feuding, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Vince McMahon shook hands and officially killed the Attitude era dead in it's tracks. So let's take a look at a world where Austin doesn't turn heel and instead of shaking hands, stuns Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 17.

He used me to get the WWF title when I thought he had finally seen the light. On a night that was supposed to be the greatest night of my life, those three ruined it.. DAMNIT I'M VINCE MCMAHON, I RAN WCW AND ECW OUT OF BUSINESS! I RULE THE WRESTLING WORLD! I- Glass shatters signaling the arrival of the WWF Champion which further upsets the irate McMahon. Austin: Shut up..You really are the world's dumbest, son of a bitch! Ya should've known to not trust Stone Cold, after all these years you think I'd willingly join your side and spit on everything I stand for? EH EH! Stone Cold will never, NEVER sell out to Vince McMahon and that's the bottom line because Stone Cold said so! Austin hits the stunner on Vince ending the promo

This could be very interesting. Especially if there's a focus on Austin becoming more paranoid over his spot and the locker room being split on whether or not he's lost his mind. Would make for a cool development of making Austin a legit tweener again since he played a role in screwing over Rock at Mania. Even though he turned on Vince immediately afterwards, there's still blood on his hands and hell to pay.

WWF Raw is War April 9, 2001 Fleet Center in Boston, Massachusetts
Hosts: Jim Ross and Paul Heyman
Glass shatters signaling the arrival of the WWF Champion, which surprisingly gets a split reaction from the crowd. He grabs a mic and explains himself. Stone Cold on WM, Vince, and Rock: Austin: I know I'm not the most popular guy in the back after what I did at WrestleMania, then again Stone Cold never gave a damn about what those sum bitches thought anyways. Rock, I told you I'd do anything to become the WWF Champion again, even if I had to trick that dumb sob Vince McMahon into thinking I turned to his side.. But son, after that night a part of Stone Cold didn't like what he did. So I want a rematch, this time I ain't gonna get anyone to help me. I'll whip your ass single handedly like I've done in the past and that's the bottom lin- "No chance" starts playing and the crowd boos the hell out of Mr. McMahon who ignores them and starts talking. Vince: Who do you think you are? You don't get to make matches around here, I make the matches here. As for The Rock, I suspended his ass! Tonight you'll defend that WWF title against Triple H! JR: Last week on SmackDown, we saw Triple H became the new WWF Intercontinental Champion! Heyman: And he'll become the new WWF Champion tonight! Stone Cold Steve Austin (c) vs. Triple H (w/ Stephanie McMahon Helmsley) for the WWF Championship Triple H is accompanied by his wife Stephanie and a chorus of boos for the both of them, meanwhile the champ is given the usual pop. The two start off with quick exchanges of punches before HHH gets Austin in the corner and starts kicking him in the gut, he then starts grinding his knee in Austin's face while Earl yells at him. HHH lets go and Austin pulls himself up with the ropes, he starts swinging and HHH finds himself in the corner soon afterwards. Austin starts stomping a mudhole in the challenger before flipping him off and gets in one last stomp. The match is even until Steph distracts the ref and HHH uses this to his advantage and hits Austin with the WWF title, he goes to cover Austin but The Undertaker runs down and the ref rings the bell disqualifies Austin.
Winner via DQ: Triple H
The Undertaker sends HHH packing and grabs the belt, he goes to hand it over but when Austin grabs it he keeps a hold on it. The two stare until Taker finally lets go and walks to the back while Austin stares at him.

WWF SmackDown! April 12, 2001 First Union Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Hosts: Michael Cole and TazzJonathan Coachman interviews The Undertaker:
Coach: I'm here with The Undertaker and many are asking why you held on to Stone Cold's WWF title last Monday night. Taker: Stone Cold should know I can take his title any time I want, and after his little stunt at WrestleMania I'm looking to take it at Backlash. Through out the night the commentators hype the main event between the WWF IC champion Jeff Hardy and Triple H.
Triple H (c) vs. Jeff Hardy for the WWF Intercontinental Championship All hope seems lost for Jeff as the champ dominates him through out the match and is about to hit the pedigree but when Jeff breaks out of the move, he pushes HHH back and knocks the ref out. The match continues until Austin's music hits and he runs down to the ring and hits the stunner on Triple H and drags Hardy on to the champ before the ref wakes and counts the three.
Winner and NEW WWF Intercontinental Champion: Jeff Hardy
SmackDown ends with Jeff and Matt Hardy celebrating while Austin flips off Triple H.
