I absolutely hate the "if it's not in scale with Mattel I won't buy" mentality. Different scales are fun! As a kid, I was obsessed with Hasbros. I also love LJNs. I've since come to love BCAs. The Japanese Charapro figs (on scale with WCW Galoobs, much smaller than Mattels) are my current favorites. And I also love Mattels!
As long as they're good -- no matter the sizing -- if you like AEW we should support and buy them.
Remember when everyone moaned and complained about Mattels being a different scale than Jakks ... and then almost all of those folks gave in and switched over to Mattels like 2-3 years later (and had to spend a ton more than those of us who started from Day One of Mattel?)

I always got the feeling people that were holdouts just didnāt want to start over with another collection in general. Everybody else was cool with Mattels being in the same 6.75ā height neighborhood as their RA/CS collection. I donāt expect AEW to match WWE Superstar Scaleā¢ to the inch, but to have another roster of wrestlers in the same ballpark is always welcome. (But hey, if they want to make them Marvel Legends size, Iām down with that too, lol.)

MJF literally just says "your mom is fat but I still ed her" if school yard crap is considered good then God Please expound upon us with what would be considered a comparable modern heel. Dolph Ziggler? Lol. Corbin is the best at triggering modern fans.

Man, I would honestly love some cartoonish but fully articulated AEW figures.
Could you imagine characters like Luchasaurus, Dark Order and the Creepers, Kong and even an alien form Kris Statlander?
Iāll most likely buy either way. Iām just excited overall to see what they have in store for us.

I'd likely go broke getting the entire first run, but - when available - I'd definitely start out with:
Kenny Jungle Boy Luchasaurus Orange Cassidy Dr. Britt Baker

Dolph Ziggler? Lol. Someone who gets legitimate heat that isn't people playing along and doesn't try to be funny ala Jericho and MJF. Heels who go out of their way to not be likeable whatsoever because they're not afraid to get booed. Edge, Baron Corbin, Sheamus, Miz, all did their jobs as the villian.

While I won't attack anyone for buying or not, what people want to do is up to them. I think everyone can have their own right to and not to buy anything. But, I am on your side, personally, regarding scale. I don't care if they are in scale with Mattels or not. I am going to be buying them all! You can bet your bottom dollar that! But if people don't want to buy them because of that, then that's fine too! More toys for me!

Let's keep this to the AEW figs, shall we? Corbin, Miz, etc., have "turn the channel" heat with me, you couldn't pay me to watch one of their matches/promos. That's not good heat, IMO, but I'm not going off about it in a Mattel thread.

I hope they're in scale with the Super7 figures, so that I can add Moxley and Jericho (and maybe Kenny and Cody depending on attire) to my NJPW shelf.

I was all in with Mattel since day one and I never cared that they werenāt in scale with RA/CS/DA/CSDA because they were never going to be displayed with my CS/CSDA. It was a nice surprise that R3 could be fudged into the Mattel display. But I always planned on displaying them separately. And when they make Hangman, Pac, Cody & Jericho I will more than likely display themselves by themselves too.

There's a chance he shoehorns in some Legends into the AEW line like he did with the Jakks TNA line towards the end. I mean, they do have several guys under deals (Arn, Tully, Dustin, Jerry Lynn) and other guys who've worked with them (Austin Idol, Glacier) who they could probably put out. Assuming the line does well, there are definitely some cool possibilities if they wanted to include legends.Ā Earl Hebner, Billy Gunn, JR, Schiavone, Taz.Ā They could probably even do Kong (though her look hasn't really changed) or some early career Jericho looks depending on the legality.Ā Obviously the early focus is on building exposure for your brand and active wrestlers.Ā But there's definitely money to be made. Have to walk before you can run, but Jeremy has a track record of thinking outside the box.Ā And AEW seems pretty willing to the same, and they've found some great ways to honor wrestling legends in the short time they've been on tv. Jeremy padawer took a big risk to launch jakks CS and without that, there would be no Mattel legends/flashbacks.

They used existing tooling, and had very recognizable names in the first series. Jakks came out with much riskier lines while they had the WWF/E license. Thatās ridiculous. Of course Mattel would have made flashback/Legends figures.

Warrior refused to work the WWE directly (This lead to the infamous Warrior DVD going from glowing retrospective to self destruction which was released a year after the Classics line launched), Jakks had to pay guys like Warrior. And Warrior isn't a cheap cat, he knows his value. Plus at the time, and we are talking 2004, no one really knew if there was a massive "collectors" market out there for wrestling figures. You're talking about a "sport" that is looked down upon by some member of society and top of that we are throwing toys into the mix. Grown ups with toys?! Nudge nudge wink wink. It was risky. Back to the topic here, I don't watch AEW. I know they have Jericho though, and if it means that somehow and someway we get a pre-WWE likeness of Jericho, I'm for it!

He might look to do a Legends spinoff line and sign wrestlers directly with no middleman if the main AEW line takes off. Give me a cartoony Fortnite style Glacier. I don't care if it's different from the other figures, it'll be cool and I want it.

Of course Mattel would have made flashback/Legends figures. They spent a ton of money signing guys like Warrior and Bret for a line that basically only existed because the Legends of Wrestling video games showed there was a market for older wrestlers. Without that line being a success, we probably wouldn't have gotten as much as we have from Mattel.
