In the packed city of Glasgow, Scotland there are numerous tall buildings.
So many in fact, that it was a hard time choosing one.
It was just a matter of finding one tall enough, with somewhat easy access to the roof.
In this case Johnny Mason has had a strike of luck. Or misfortune, if you ask someone else.
As he has found the tallest building in Scotland, the Glasgow tower.
Less than 10 minutes away from the sse hydro arena.
The same arena where last night, Mason faced off against one of the best in the business, Frank Lynn.
Johnny came into the match extremely confident, something that became his downfall.
Instead of a win and a championship match he has a broken nose for his efforts.
But none of that matters at this exact moment.
What matters is Johnny’s need to feel alive.
Johnny is standing on the top of the tower.
As the wind glides through his hair and around his body, it gives him goosebumps and makes the hair on his arms and the back of his neck stand up.
Frank you told me to walk before I could run,
But why do that when I can fly!
Johnny takes a step closer to the edge of the roof still with his eyes closed.
Everything I’ve lost, how do I recover from this?
There’s no coming back from this,
But I have nothing to go back to.
Bryce is gone.
I need to be with him again.
I have a need to feel something,
To feel... alive.
But I have the desire to be dead.
As Johnny contemplates on whether to end his life he’s interrupted by a phone call.
He thinks it’s probably Hannah, but isn’t sure so he pulls it out of his pocket and checks.
Johnny! I seen your match, didn’t go to well for you did it? Says a man laughing hysterically.
Why the f*ck are you calling me?
I haven’t spoken to you in almost a year!
I know you’re out of the US, but do you think you can meet me in Miami?
Why would I do that?
Why are you even calling me?
I have more important things to be worrying about then going all the way to Miami just to see your irrelevant ass!
Well Johnny, the way things are going you’re close to being almost as irrelevant as I am.
Johnny grits his teeth, but steps down from the ledge,
I’m on my way bunghole!
Johnny arrived in Miami about a half hour ago, more specifically at a sh*tty bar called scooters.
Where he parked his Range Rover right next to an old busted up black camaro
Okay, okay, I understand losing to Frank Lynn, I tagged with him once, did you know that?
But losing to a little girl! The man laughs obnoxiously.
Did you have me come all the way out here to make fun of me?
No, no Johnny. Listen,
I’m really really sorry about what happened with your son.
I remember when you first found out you were having him.
But you have to get your head on straight. You being angry like this is only going to lead to your downfall. Take it from me. I was in the same position as you and I had some personal issues going on at the time-
Whatever happened to your father?
Oh he died last year.
Poor bastard drank himself to death.
But what I’m trying to say is,
I don’t want you to go down the same path as me.
I was in the big leagues. The wfwf
And look at me now
Johnny looks across the booth at a man with a shaved head and long beard.
With an added 50 pounds since he’s seen him last on the Indy scene.
This man is Tyson Watts.
I know I’m not what I used to be Johnny, but let me help you.
I still have some tricks up my sleeve.
You know Tyson?
I don’t care
I don’t care at all
I really don’t give a f*ck if you help me or not
But I don’t have the energy to stop you
We should get going then
Old Friends/New Wounds
Old Friends/New Wounds
You have the f*cking audacity to ask me how it’s been going after my match
Did you watch the damn match that I just had?
Did you see my f*cking broken nose?
I’m not your “buddy”
And if you know what’s best for you, you better back the hell up.
I’ve been dealing with all of this alone,
My son passed away!
But you want to ask how I’m doing!?
I have some unfinished business with you anyways,
You beat me in my last match before I came to the wfwf.
The spotlight always has to be on you doesn’t it?
Well where have you been Jayson?
Johnny what the hell are you thinking about
You look like you want to kill somebody
Maybe I do Tyson
You don’t have it in you says Tyson as he bellows out an outrageous laugh
Why are you even here
You’re just a has been trying to leech off my success
Since when have you had any of that Johnny?
Now shut the f*ck up and listen
Your next match is one on one with “the father”
He beat you in the-
He didn’t beat me!
He beat whoever the hell that was in the match,
I don’t even remember.
Well you certainly didn’t win Johnny you were on your back when he got the pin fall.
I can’t get what he said to me out of my head
I need to get my hands on him
He’s going to wish I was in another profession after what he has said
That was awhile ago Johnny
I can only imagine what he’s going to say now...
What now that my son’s dead?
Now that he’s buried six feet under?
I don’t care what he has to say now.
None of that can hurt me.
But he has to pay for what he said in the first place
Man he lost to the little girl in his last match too!
What’s her problem?
I don’t know Tyson.
I’m not sure she’s old enough but if she is I’d be down
Johnny just looks at him disgusted
Anyways back to the father,
What about his “disciples”
How are you going to deal with them if one or more of them were to interfere in the match
I don’t know if you’ve noticed but i don’t really have any friends around the wfwf
So there’s nothing I can do about it
I’ll just handle it in the moment
I don’t know if that would work very good Johnny-
Johnny immediately fires back,
I don’t care, The father just needs to pay for his actions
Later in his hotel room, Johnny is finally alone
Alone with his thoughts
His recurring nightmares of Bryce coupled with not even talking to Hannah are met with an excruciating need of a revenge that in no way, shape, or form could ever be justified.
A revenge he plans to take out on anyone and everyone in his way
Including his former friend, Jayson Sykes.
And the so called father, Luke Marshall.
