Hello, markers and markettes.
No, you aren't seeing things. This is a brand new review and yes, it isn't PWN.com - that's because Ick is free lance, baby! No deadlines, no word limits, no nothing! I'm the ruler of my own destiny which means ZERO repercussions for my opinions so if I rustle your jimmies, don't cry at me for speaking the truth.
You’re probably wondering, “Hey Ick, what happened to you, man?”
The answer is: I took a sabbatical from pro wrestling. The last show I reviewed was so mediocre that I promised that if the following show was even worse I would never cover the WFWF again. Yes, I said ‘just kidding’ but goddamn – Resolution wasn’t as good as I had hoped.
Now you’re all probably asking yourself, “If you hate the WFWF so much, why cover it?”
Simple: Cash is king. Papa needs a new pair of synthetic leather boots and for as awful as the product is, the WFWF = clicks and clicks = money. People just love watching a trainwreck but more on trainwrecks later....
This review is for Stay Gold, the obvious reference to the Robert Frost poem which took place Sunday night in the BOK Center in Tulsa, OK and umm….it wasn’t worth watching.
The opening match was a dud.
The triple threat match was unimpressive with three nobodies.
Zmey vs. Nitta was such an odd match and the main event – well, there WASN’T one so that’s false advertising.
Daniel Knight got canned for what he did to good ‘ole Mesh Cakes at SuperBrawl (full disclosure – I only watched SB for that part) yet the company gave Knight too much camera time. Seriously, half the show was about him and for once, I happen to agree with all the complaining online.
Check out some of these tweets:
Some great stuff regarding the feedback for the show, or should I say - lack thereof. There wasn't much activity or buzz around this show on social media compared to most WFWF shows. "We've struck an iceberg but we should keep sailing!" - Lila Sleater, 2019
Yeah, this show sucked. Don't believe me? Check out the match reviews!

DAISY vs. BILLY BROOM - *1/2
Who is this “Daisy” and why should I care? That’s all I thought about when I watched the opener. Billy Broom looks the same as he always does - out of place. I gotta say though - I am loving the Twitter beef between Dais and the forgotten Shuggy but please, don't take that the wrong way. Their attempts at talking trash is entertaining but for all the wrong reasons. At least it's better than watching them try to actually wrestle, right?
STEVE ‘THE KNIFE’ STILETTO vs. JOHNNY MASON vs. ‘THE FATHER’ LUKE MARSHALL – 1/2
Right off the bat – Johnny Mason is the blandest wrestler I’ve ever seen. “Oh, I fight for my son” – yeah and so does every other RESPONSIBLE father so you’re not special, my guy. “Oh, I love my son” – John Wayne Gacy loved his children. "The Man" Bland McBlandson should be his name, my goodness.
I’ve never heard of this Steve Stiletto but I think it's safe to say that everyone will forget about him after this show. Just another "one and done" to join the WFWF ranks!
“The Father” reminds me of a video game villain – too over the top for my tastes. As an atheist, I find the religious types to be extremely phony so not a fan of this guy either.
Where the hell does Lila find these guys? discountwrestlers.com?

TUGARIN ZMEY vs. CAM NITTA - **
These two looked weird together. Now, I love a good David vs. Goliath battle but this wasn’t it. I will say that this was probably the best match of the show but that’s like saying, “I’d rather get stabbed than get shot".
DEVILKILLER vs. RYAN ‘NEEDLES’ PAYNE – 0 STARS
This was supposed to be the main event but what we got wasn’t even a match. Instead, we got a circle jerk where every babyface from the back came out to seek redemption for Mesh. I guess everyone involved wanted brownie points, their way of saying, “Look at me! I’m a good person and I care!”
Literally - it was Billy Broom Daphne, DevilKiller, Cameron Stone, Anne Ahriman and freakin' Frank Lynn were all out there, beating up on an announcer. Gee, what a tough bunch you all are.
Hands down, the worst main event in WFWF history.

But yeah, that was the show. Their next venture sees the WFWF going to Hell, Michigan which is hilarious considering the state of the company. The main event is already being promoted as Thunder vs. Frank Lynn for the WFWF International Championship as well as Frank's "chance to break Thunder's historic record" but again in typical WFWF fashion, they are incompetent. Why? I'll tell you why.
The WFWF typically sets up shows at a snails pace and their big, epic main event is being billed Frank's chance to break Thunder's record but this is how dumb they are....
BY THE TIME THEY GET TO HELL, FRANK WILL HAVE ALREADY BROKEN THE RECORD!
That's already false advertising but knowing them, they'll still promote and advertise the match that way because they are in desperate need for ratings.
Anyway, enough of that - it's time for my favorite part of the review....
THE RUMOR WINDMILL!
Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill, but we present it as fact. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt. Or not. Up to you.
- We all saw the return of David Brennan at Stay Gold but rumor has it that it wasn’t really David Brennan at all. According to rumors, that was actually a local bouncer that oddly enough, looks a lot like the former world champion and as a cost cutting measure (and a cheap way to pop a rating) the WFWF brought in the lookalike but he isn’t expected to compete in a match since he’s a liability. The real David Brennan is believed to have died in a plane crash but sightings of him living in a hut in Thailand have also surfaced. Is David Brennan a triplet?
- Frank Lynn is on his way to breaking Thunder’s record of being the International Champion but according to rumors, those numbers have been inflated since Thunder held the title more times. Rumor has it that the WFWF Marketing Department is using this as a way to “spice up” Frank Lynn’s merch sales, all focused on the record. Even though the main event for The WFWF Goes to Hell is Frank Lynn defending his title, Thunder is rumored to be paid “less than minimum wage” for his appearance. The discussion of Thunder's record apparently caused quite the stir backstage as WFWF historians and pundits argued about the validity of said record. If the Board of Directors can combine reigns to “officially” recognize Drakz as the longest reigning world champion of all-time, why not do the same to Thunder?
- Aside from being the most perfect man in the world, Kris Kash broke the internet when he showed up to Tulsa, OK but rumor has it that he’s not a contracted wrestler. He supposedly never signed a contract and showed up on his own merit. Kash has his hand in other business so he's not expected to hold any form of power in the WFWF although after seeing what Lila has done, I would prefer a new face to be in charge. As someone with a business degree, I do find it odd that Kash wouldn't expect some form of power in the company that he's helping keep afloat but then again, Kris Kash is perfect and I'm sure he has a plan.
- Maxwell Dachs was revealed to be Daniel Knight’s replacement, but rumor has it that he wasn’t the first choice. Calvin Lee, Johnny Valentine, Alexis Chavente, Future, and Diamond Jack Sabbath were some of the names mentioned. At one point, Valorie Evans was considered to replace Knight since the company wants to push more women for their broadcasts.
