WTF AMBROSE?! Why did I turn the show off 😩😩 Come on... you don’t turn a wrestling show off until it’s off the air. Jericho vs Omega did nothing for me :/

Do you guys think WWE is watching. Of course they did. They don't care how good the matches were. If they did, WWE shows wouldn't suck. They will only make jokes about the tv production side of it, pyro (which they shouldn't say a damn thing about). And the HHH and Steph stuff. That was 5 hours straight of great ass wrasslin, something they don't give a crap about.

I like Kenny losing because that likely means Hangman beats Jericho for the title. Gives us a true heel/baby face title match without splitting the crowd over a Kenny/Page match. Just so much fun stuff. From Kong, to Bret, to Mox. MJF was on fire all night with heat. Cody and Goldust had the drama, grit and then the emotional ending. The tag match was ing amazing. That destroyer on the apron was great. I wasn’t overly impressed with Jericho tonight. The look is one thing, but the botches and pace and he kicked Kenny in the face in the corner. Just feels like wrestling hasn’t been his priority and it kind of ran into the ring tonight on him. Regardless, entertaining show from start to finish. I’m not sure what my expectations were for this but it definitely met them, at a minimum.

He's the most recognizable name they have, and having a heel champ sets up a chase storyline. Page is going to be a star. But right now he's someone that 90+% of people have ever heard of, and has zero main event experience. I think putting the belt on him this early would be a huge huge mistake. They have the iwc/smark audience. Being successful on tv means getting casual/lapsed fans, and Jericho is absolutely the perfect guy for that.

I've been watching wrestling for 25 years. I started when I was five years old. As a 10 year old in the attitude area, I had old NWA videotapes. Not many 10 year olds were interested in a Ric Flair match from 1977. I have never seen something so incredible from start to finish. It's super rare that you build something up in your mind and it actually delivers, but this exceeded my expectations in every way possible. I got everything I could have wanted from that show. Met a few new faces I'd never seen before and instantly became a mark for them, saw some guys we've been watching from the indies for years get opportunities to show their stuff on a broad scale, and got the most surreal moments ever from the main stars. I looked at the clock when Jericho hit the Judas effect, and at that point it was super obvious Moxley was coming, but I still popped like I couldn't believe. Legit teared up at the end of Cody/Dustin. Loved both the women's matches, and I went nuts when Awesome Kong showed up, and I loved the swerve of Brandi coming out in ring gear and then introducing Kong instead.

The show left me feeling like a kid again. It wasn't a perfect show, but it left me wanting more. Over the last few years, WWE PPV's at best left me feeling apathetic, and I often turned off the tv in frustration or anger over the booking. Whatever AEW becomes, it won't be perfect. And not every aspect of the product will be something I care for. But wrestling has always been a variety show, and I think tonight AEW went back to those roots.
This is how I remember wrestling in the 80's/90's. It's sort of crazy to me that there are adult fans out there who have only ever known WWE's homogenized product as their only perspective of wrestling. If the goal is to present an alternative presentation of pro wrestling, today was a really big first step.

Tons of people here wont even watch it because its not WWE.

I think we should have solo boards for the top 2, and just make everything else the indie thread. This forum is in need of some restructuring.

so i did not watch the show so im not gonna comment on match quality, results, etc.
but some of the things i did see.....for a company that's been pumping its chest for MONTHS, talking so much crap about the WWE, telling their prospective fans that they were going to be different, the alternate, they were going to do things better and not like Vince
they close the show with Dean Ambrose hitting "Dirty Deeds" on Chris Jericho, with JR screaming "good god almighty!"
Cody comes out and "breaks" a Triple H looking throne with a sledgehammer in the most cheesy looking smash i've seen in a long time...
Bret Hart is unveiling their World title,
like, seriously though if you want to be "different" than fine, but stop forcing the issue that you're this rebellious teen towards WWE, and that "vince better watch out!"....if they keep on with this stuff its going to get old fast, and then when the TV show hits, the ratings reflect the audience which probably is less than half of WWE, it's going to make them look REALLY stupid.
