WWE Royal Rumble: January 27, 2019 - Phoenix, Arizona The Road to WrestleMania charged through Royal Rumble 2019, where Seth Rollins won the Men’s Royal Rumble Match and Becky Lynch won the Women’s Royal Rumble Match to earn their right to step onto The Grandest Stage of Them All. Plus, Brock Lesnar defeated Finn Bálor, WWE Champion "The New" Daniel Bryan overcame AJ Styles, Miz & Shane McMahon captured the SmackDown Tag Team Titles, Shinsuke Nakamura recaptured the United States Title and so much more.WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy def. Kalisto, Akira Tozawa and Hideo Itami (Fatal 4-Way Match) (Kickoff Match)If the Cruiserweight Champion has proven anything during his extraordinary reign it’s this: anybody who can be defeated by Buddy Murphy, will be defeated by Buddy Murphy.
The musclebound Aussie beat not one, not two, but three of 205 Live’s most talented competitors on Royal Rumble Kickoff to maintain his grip on the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.
Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Kalisto couldn’t get it done, although he was the most creative combatant by a wide margin, utilizing his lucha background to use his opponents’ momentum against them and, in some cases, turn them into literal springboards for his own maneuvers.
Former champion Akira Tozawa was also no-go, despite a go-for-broke strategy that saw The Stamina Monster go high-risk at every possible opportunity, his war cries echoing through Chase Field as he threw caution to the wind.
Hideo Itami had the best strategy of the three challengers, playing into the quirks of a Fatal 4-Way by waiting until the competition had tired before making his move. He was gritty, too, kicking out of Kalisto’s Salida del Sol during a frantic scramble in the waning moments of the match.
Murphy’s raw power, however, was the deciding factor. The Best-Kept Secret escaped Itami’s Go to Sleep in a climactic slugfest with the hard-hitting legend, blasted his foe with several knees to the face — and then a few more for good measure — before quickly executing Murphy’s Law. That was enough to continue a reign of dominance that has long since passed a coincidence or a trend and is fast closing in on a law of nature.

WWE 205 Live: January 29, 2019 - Phoenix, Arizona Only two days removed from the critically acclaimed WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view event, the superstars of the Cruiserweight division took over the WWE Network once again for another exciting edition of 205 Live. After dispatching three other competitors at the Royal Rumble event, the search for Buddy Murphy’s next championship challenger is on. 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick started the broadcast by promising that he is looking for a worthy challenger for the Australian Juggernaut – a search that will span all WWE brands and the globe itself. And it all starts tonight on 205 Live!
Kalisto def. Mike KanellisMaria and Mike Kanellis have been pressing WWE 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick to give Mike Kanellis the opportunity to challenge the best the Cruiserweight division has to offer. Maverick obliged and Kanellis stood toe-to-toe with former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Kalisto. With Maria joining the commentary team and Kalsito coming off the grueling Fatal 4-Way Match during Royal Rumble Kickoff, Kanellis certainly had the odds stacked in his favor. Kanellis started the match aggressively, going after Kalisto with a show of force, but the lucha dragon was able to recover and shift momentum in his favor. Nevertheless, Kanellis regained his composure and unleashed on his opponent as Maria touted her husband’s experience to the WWE Universe.Kanellis decimated Kalisto on the outside, methodically striking and using the environment to maximize punishment. The resilience former champion eventually regained his composure and took control in a dizzying display of fast-paced offense, but it was not enough to secure victory. Kalisto pressed forward with an offensive, but as he dove to the outside to flatten his opponent, Kannellis tossed the luchador into the barricade.Back inside the ring, Kalisto and The Opportunist battled back and forth until Kanellis slammed his opponent from the top rope. As both Superstars struggled to their feet, Kanellis pressed forward, once again unleashing his fury with a series of suplexes that spelled certain doom for the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion. However, Kalisto managed to stay alive, only enraging Kanellis further. As Kanellis prepared another high-impact maneuver, Kalisto counter and managed to score a pinfall for the victory.Tony Nese suspended indefinitelyOn WWE 205 Live, footage taken with a cell phone revealed a brutal brawl between Tony Nese and Noam Dar in the parking lot before WWE 205 Live. WWE officials and other Cruiserweights broke up the melee, but Nese got the better of The Scottish Supernova after attacking him from behind.Kayla Braxton revealed that while Dar didn’t sustain any serious injuries, WWE 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick has indefinitely suspended The Premier Athlete.
Hideo Itami def. Ray RosasWhile coming up unsuccessful in the WWE Cruiserweight Championship Fatal Four-Way match at the Royal Rumble, Hideo Itami looked to prove that he still has what it takes to one day reach the peak of 205 Live. The Don from Nihon was not too impressed by his victim this Tuesday night, taking no pity on the local competitor with vicious strikes that echoed throughout the Talking Stick Resort Arena. Itami’s ally Ariya Daivari cheered on every strike from ringside and encouraged the Japanese Legend to inflict even more punishment.Luckily for Rosas, he was soon put to sleep as Itami’s rage boiled over and signalled the end but marked the return of a long-forgotten maneuver that spells disaster. Rosas was forced to Go 2 Sleep while Hideo stood tall and asserted his dominance in Phoenix. With Daivari by his side and the return of his trusty finishing move, will Hideo Itami soon be able to finally become WWE Cruiserweight Champion in the near future?
Aleister Black def. TJP The search for a new contender brought WWE NXT’s Aleister Black to the 205 brand tonight. Hot off his appearance in the Royal Rumble Match, the former NXT Champion did battle with the first-ever WWE Cruiserweight Champion in a battle of might.
TJP’s dabbing style was a stark contrast to the calm and collective attitude of Aleister, who seemed to shrug off all of the Fil-Am Flash’s taunts to start the match. Luckily for TJP, he dodged a Black Mass kick to begin the match and soon targeted The Harbinger of Fury’s legs to keep any strikes grounded.
Black, however, used his cat-like agility to thwart TJP’s attacks outside the ring. Masterfully jumping onto the barricade after being irish whipped, Black executed a moonsault that wowed the crowd and firmly returned the momentum to his favour.
Back inside the ring, TJP desperately tried to find a way out of the oncoming punishment to no avail as Aleister was here on Tuesday night to make a statement. Following the Owari Death Stomp, Black dragged TJP to his feet using his foot and guided a Black Mass kick to the temple that knocked the WWE Cruiserweight Classic winner unconscious long enough for the match-ending pinfall.
Aleister Black came to 205 Live, represented WWE NXT, walked out victorious, and made a statement. While Wednesday nights have faded to black, will Tuesday nights and 205 Live follow suit should the Striking Man From Amsterdam ever return?

WWE 205 Live: February 5, 2019 – Everett, Washington With the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view looming in just two weeks, WWE 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick’s decision for a new number one contender is set to be made by the end of the night. After showing fire last week on 205 Live, Hideo Itami could earn another shot at the WWE Cruiserweight Championship if he can overcome the hurdle of his former friend Akira Tozawa in a Number One Contender’s Match. Plus, following an indefinite suspension last week, Tony Nese’s Cruiserweight division future will be decided!
The Brian Kendrick def. Mike KanellisAlthough Mike Kanellis lost to Kalisto last week on WWE 205 Live, his performance impressed WWE 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick enough to give The Opportunist another chance to prove himself. Once again, Kanellis squared off against a former WWE Cruiserweight Champion, The Brian Kendrick. With Maria Kanellis joining commentary, the match got underway with the two Superstars engaged in a showdown of technical prowess.
Kanellis grew irate with Kendrick and was forced to recalibrate with encouragement from his wife. As the battle raged to the outside, Kendrick and Kanellis exchanged blows, and The Man with a Plan took control until Maria put herself between her husband and the announce table.
Thanks to the assist from his wife, Kanellis fended off Kendrick. Showing off his aggression, Kanellis left Kendrick on defense and dished out a fair amount of punishment. Kendrick applied The Captain’s Hook, but Kanellis battled through the pain to reach the ropes and break the hold.
Kanellis grew increasingly frustrated with his inability to secure victory, and The Opportunist unloaded brutal elbow strikes and answered his opponent’s call to strike with savage kicks. Seemingly in control of the battle, Kanellis prepared to end the match, but Kendrick countered and executed Sliced Bread No. 2 for the shocking win.Tony Nese and Noam Dar to face off in a No Disqualification MatchDespite receiving an indefinite suspension following a parking lot brawl with Noam Dar, Tony Nese will have his chance to battle The Scottish Supernova next week when they collide in a No Disqualification Match.
The match was made by WWE 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick after Dar approached him and voiced his desire to settle his bitter rivalry with The Premier Athlete. While Maverick was reluctant at first and aiming to uphold Nese’s suspension, he granted Dar his wish for the match.
Humberto Carrillo def. Alex ZayneWith potential mentors Gentleman Jack Gallagher and Drew Gulak sitting at ringside, Humberto Carrillo impressed the world with yet another dominant showing on WWE 205 Live against a local competitor.
While Gallagher and Gulak shouted instructions – and wished the Mexican Marvel would incorporate more submission maneuvers in his arsenal – from ringside, Humberto went to his bread and butter of breath-taking high-flying moves to decimate Zayne. It only took a few minutes for Carrillo to put things away with a beautiful Split-Legged Moonsault to secure the pinfall.
Hideo Itami def. Akira Tozawa to become Number One Contender for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship After clashing in the Fatal 4-Way Match for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship during Royal Rumble Kickoff, Akira Tozawa and Hideo Itami each wanted to prove they were still ripe for title contention. Looking to showcase their abilities in singles competition, the former partners had no love lost for one another. Itami has defeated Tozawa before and was looking to repeat that success.
When Itami sought advice from his ally Ariya Daivari, Tozawa attacked and took control of the match. With his own ally The Brian Kendrick looking on, The Stamina Monster remained one step ahead of his opponent until Itami countered the Senton. Rolling to the outside, Tozawa found himself on the receiving end of a brief assault from Daivari, helping to give Itami even more of an advantage.
Mounting an impressive offense, Tozawa ignored a distraction from Daivari, taking down Itami with a missile dropkick and a diving headbutt to the outside. Another assist from The Persian Lion aided Itami, but his inability to secure victory started to create frustration for the Japanese legend.
As the battle continued, Kendrick and Daivari continued to try and influence the match for their respective allies. After Daivari took out Kendrick and Itami took advantage and clobbered Tozawa, the Japanese legend attempted a basement dropkick, but Tozawa moved, causing Daivari to take the brunt of the move.
Itami’s miscalculation allowed Tozawa to execute a snap German suplex and his patented Senton to nearly earn the victory but Itami was not ready to lay down and lose – not anymore! The Don from Nihon stood right up and tapped into his old “King’s Road” background with some stiff strikes and a Go 2 Sleep to secure the victory for the Japanese legend.
Itami’s celebration was cut short with the arrival of WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy. The smug champion came face-to-face with his challenger at WWE Elimination Chamber and held the championship up high while looking at the WrestleMania sign looming in distance.
Could WWE Elimination Chamber be Hideo Itami’s last opportunity at climbing the mountain of the Cruiserweight division?

WWE 205 Live: February 12, 2019 – Toledo, Ohio As the road to WrestleMania enters hyperdrive before WWE Elimination Chamber this Sunday on the WWE Network, the Superstars of WWE 205 Live made a quick stop in Toledo, Ohio for another exciting night of the very best Cruiserweight action. Tensions have run high for weeks now betwixt Noam Dar and Tony Nese and that will all come to a close tonight when the two compete in a No Disqualifications Match to see which Superstar reigns supreme on the purple-and-orange brand.
Buddy Murphy def. Michael FaçadeAfter requesting a tune-up match ahead of his WWE Cruiserweight Championship match against Hideo Itami this Sunday, Buddy Murphy walked into “his” 205 Live ring with one goal in mind: to win, no questions asked.
While the local competitor put up a fight in his flashy ‘Neon Ninja’ garb, Buddy Murphy used his strength advantage to pick apart every limb available. After crashing and burning on a dive to the outside, Façade found himself on the wrong end of Murphy’s Law outside the ring. Mercifully, the champion rolled the local back into the ring only to connect with yet another Murphy’s Law for the pinfall victory. Statement made.
Hideo Itami promises to become WWE Cruiserweight ChampionThe Don from Nihon spoke to WWE.com earlier this week ahead of his big WWE Cruiserweight Championship match this Sunday at WWE Elimination Chamber. While he has been touted as an international superstar, Itami feels like his WWE resume does not line up with his credentials back in Japan. Once a final boss for Pro Wrestling NOAH, the Japanese Sensation has had a hard time finding the same success since he came to WWE NXT in 2014 and has felt like a failure since joining the 205 Live roster.
For Hideo Itami, this Sunday’s clash is the night he finally reaches the peak of the Cruiserweight mountain by becoming the WWE Cruiserweight Champion. But if he can’t do it, if he can’t surmount the juggernaut known as Buddy Murphy, then it may be time to leave WWE 205 Live once and for all. What will happen this Sunday at WWE Elimination Chamber? Find out only on WWE Network.
Tony Nese def. Noam DarThe bitter rivalry between Noam Dar and Tony Nese reached a boiling point as they battled in a wild No Disqualification Match two weeks after a parking lot brawl that resulted in Nese’s indefinite suspension. After Dar pleaded with WWE 205 Live Manager Drake Maverick to make the match, Maverick agreed, and it was official.
As Nese made his way to the ring, there was no ab-counting; there was just pure animosity, but The Scottish Supernova took the early advantage by attacking first. Dar wasted no time pushing the fight to the outside and using the environment to his advantage, leaping off the steel steps to knock Nese off the barricade and using the ring post as leverage to attack Nese’s limbs.
Despite Nese’s power and relentless attacks with a steel chair, the fury the Dar felt toward his opponent kept him in the battle and brought the WWE Universe to their feet in raucous anticipation of what this bitter rivalry would bring next. The Scottish Supernova satiated the WWE Universe’s desire for a table and pulled one from the ring before dropping Nese onto a pile of steel chairs. The exchange of punishment continued inside the ring with a single steel chair being used back and forth, most notably when Dar used it to add leverage to an armbar.
Battered and bruised, Nese and Dar continued to unload on each other outside the ring, with Dar applying an armbar on the apron, only to be slammed into steel steps in front of the announce table. When The Scottish Supernova reapplied the hold, Nese displayed his raw power and threw his opponent through the announce table.
Unbelievably, it was still not enough to secure victory, and after Nese missed his running knee strike, Dar applied a leg lock that left Nese desperate for relief and breaking the hold with a chair. Once again on the outside, The Premier Athlete returned the favor by drilling a steel chair into Dar’s knee. With The Scottish Supernova reeling, Nese charged forward and execute his patented running knee, driving himself and Dar through the barricade.
With Dar out, Nese mustered the energy to carry his foe back into the ring and secure the three-count for an incredible victory amidst chants of “This is awesome!” from the WWE Universe.

WWE Elimination Chamber: February 17, 2019 - Houston, Texas At the WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, Sasha Banks & Bayley made history by becoming the first-ever WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, and WWE Champion "The New" Daniel Bryan outlasted five of SmackDown LIVE's best inside the dreaded Elimination Chamber. Plus, a suspended Becky Lynch unleashed a brutal assault on Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair, The Usos and Finn Bálor captured championship gold, and so much more. WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy def. Hideo ItamiThe legend of Buddy Murphy continues, as the indomitable WWE Cruiserweight Champion stifled yet another challenge to his crown at WWE Elimination Chamber to extend what is already one of the most dominant reigns in the title’s very young history and may well end up being the longest.
The latest of Murphy’s would-be usurpers was Hideo Itami, looking to finally climb the WWE Cruiserweight mountain and become the fighter that he once was. It was not meant to be. Hideo Itami came out swinging and refused any help from his friend Ariya Daivari. In fact, after a few minutes in the bout, Hideo instructed Daivari to return to the back as The Don from Nihon wanted to try and win the championship on his own.
The Juggernaut from Melbourne took control early on by overpowering Itami, starting with some quick snap suplexes to get the match going. Itami fought back and showed his strong style roots with stiff strikes that resonated throughout Houston - prompting Murphy to take the fight to the outside.
Outside the ring, things went south for Hideo Itami as his body soon met the commentary, courtesy of a back body drop from the WWE Cruiserweight Champion. Buddy Murphy, looking to add insult to injury, dropped The Japanese Sensation on the group with Murphy's Law and decided to re-enter the ring wanting a count-out victory.
But Hideo Itami just would not quit by breaking up the count by, somehow, rolling back in the ring at the count of nine. After a few slaps from the Champion, the fight was on with an incensed Itami prompting Murphy to bring it on - and the champion did just that.
Escaping from the grasps of a Go 2 Sleep, Buddy Murphy hoisted Itami up in the air and planted him with another Murphy's Law in the middle of the ring for the pinfall victory to retain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. Buddy Murphy is unstoppable, but the question remained on everybody's mind after the bell: is this the end of Hideo Itami on WWE 205 Live?

WWE 205 Live: February 19, 2019 – New Orleans, Louisiana With the WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event firmly in the rear-view window, the Road to WrestleMania heats up once again on WWE 205 Live! Following another successful WWE Cruiserweight Championship defence against Hideo Itami, Buddy Murphy continues to reign supreme atop of the Cruiserweight division – what does he have in store for the Grandest Stage of Them All? Plus, with the announcement of the Cruiserweight Cash-In Ladder Match set for WrestleMania, who will advance and become the first Cruiserweight to qualify for a chance to earn a future WWE Cruiserweight Championship opportunity?
Ariya Daivari def. Johnny LyonsJust two days after the end of his friendship and business partnership with Hideo Itami, Ariya Daivari made his intentions to dominate the Cruiserweight division clear, setting his sights on Johnny Lyons. After taunting the WWE Universe, Daivari entered the ring ready for action, quickly striking his opponent with fiery aggression. Lyons tried to use Daivari’s ferociousness to his advantage with quick attacks, but The Persian Lion proved to be too much.
After decimating Lyons with a Hammerlock Lariat, Daivari applied a variation of The Million Dollar Dream for the submission win .Cedric Alexander def. Mike Kanellis to advance to the WWE Cruiserweight Cash-In Ladder MatchStill searching for an elusive victory that has been within reach, Mike Kanellis hoped to pick up tremendous momentum by defeating former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Cedric Alexander. However, The Soul of WWE 205 Live was determined to return to The Grandest Stage of Them All and once again earn a future opportunity for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.
As Maria Kanellis offered encouragement for her husband from ringside, Alexander displayed his legendary resilience and stamina by avoiding opponent’s strikes and executing a series of moves that ended with a Neutralizer. In control, Alexander prepared for a high-risk maneuver, but Kanellis moved, forcing the The Soul of WWE 205 Live to land awkwardly on his knee. Seeing the opportunity to strike, Kanellis targeted Alexander’s knee to maximize damage – a wise strategy that would come into play moments later when Alexander couldn’t execute the Lumbar Check.
Alexander scored several near-falls before the battle spilled to the outside with Kanellis delivering a cringe-worthy spinebuster on the entrance ramp. Kanellis attempted to win by count-out, but Alexander barely made the official’s 10-count, only frustrating Kanellis further. Refusing to tap out to a grueling Boston Crab, Alexander struck back with a huge dive to the outside that flattened his opponent. As Alexander prepared to re-enter the ring after Kanellis, Maria provided a distraction that allowed her husband to hit a superkick and a high-impact twisting DDT to secure the pinfall.
Despite Kanellis thinking he won the match, the official did not call for the bell, as Alexander narrowly got his shoulder up just in time. Maria and Mike Kanellis argued with the official, but the match continued. No doubt disoriented, Kanellis attempted to strike, but he was countered, and Alexander executed the Lumbar Check to secure a hard-fought victory.
Buddy Murphy’s WrestleMania Proclamation Was Interrupted by the O.G. Cruiser-GreatThe Juggernaut of WWE 205 Live was all smiles when he addressed the WWE Universe after yet another successful WWE Cruiserweight Championship defence this past Sunday at WWE Elimination Chamber. Buddy Murphy held the Championship over his shoulder and declared himself the Greatest Cruiserweight of All Time and that it is a shame that he would not represent the brand at WrestleMania “seeing as there is no one who can provide him with a sufficient challenge.”
Au contraire thought WWE 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick who was more than happy to crash the champ’s party. While Buddy may have run through the Cruiserweight division since his arrival to the purple-and-orange brand, Drake Maverick has been looking across the globe for a WrestleMania caliber challenger… but one came to him before he could make his pick. The WWE Universe welcomed the newest WWE 205 Live Superstar with open arms and glee.
Rey Mysterio is now a member of the Cruiserweight division and had a message for the WWE Cruiserweight Champion: never disrespect the O.G. Cruiser-Great because The Greatest Mask of All Time is here to stay. Mysterio touched on his epic battles with Eddie Guerrero in WCW and promised to be the one to dethrone Buddy Murphy from the mountain top of WWE 205 Live.
At WrestleMania, when WWE descends upon New York and New Jersey, the dream match will happen: Buddy Murphy vs. Rey Mysterio for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship!
